Asmelash Teka Hadgu Making sense of Microposts (Bachelor/Master) The goal is to advance the state of the art in named entity extraction from microposts such as Twitter. This builds on ideas from the #MSM challenges 2013 1 and 2014 2. The specific tasks include: Implementing, testing and comparing existing approaches for entity extraction in Twitter. Taking the best components of existing methods and proposing a new approach to improve the state of the art in entity extraction. Asmelash Teka Hadgu Analysing German Tweetosphere for Social Good (Labor/Bachelor) The aim of the project is to analyse German tweets from Twitter to make an impact for social good. The application domain is open for the student to choose. B.Sc./M.Sc. Thesis project MWS-Web Goal Extend the current functionalities including better search capabilities, better visualization and simplification of the user interface. Task requirements Work will be done in Java for the main algorithms, and in JSF or Javascript for the interface.
