Dabei sollen sowohl die ethnische Quartiersbildung (Judenviertel, Christenviertel, die europäische ville nouvelle ) als auch die sozioökonomische Entwicklung der Medina und der außerhalb liegenden neuen Viertel, insbesondere der Bidonvilles näher betrachtet werden. Abschließend wird in einem Ausblick die Zukunft der orientalischen Stadt angesprochen werden. Dabei soll insbesondere die Tendenz zur Überbevölkerung der orientalischen Städte und die damit verbundenen Probleme der Beschaffung von Wohnraum und Arbeitsplätzen sowie die Zukunft der Stadtentwicklung besondere Beachtung erfahren.
