COMPARISON of SMART HBA1C Analyser against Central Laboratory Analysis 12-14. November 2008 K.Danzmayer Estermannstraße 17 A-4020 Linz Tel.+43/732/77 10 77 Fax.+43/732/77 10 77-391 mail:diagnostika@diateam.at www.diateam.at Objective: To asses the SMART HBA1c assay for point of care measurements with respect to correlation and within run precision against the central laboratory methode used in the university laboratory of Salzburg. (Adams A1c HA8160 ARKRAY-Menarini) Methods: Within run precision was assessed by analysis of a medium and high concentration of HbA1c containing patient sample. Each sample was measured with 4 different analysers 5 times each and therfore includes the instrument to instrument variation. Instrument correlation was assessed by measuring 45 relativelly fresh (1-2 days old) patient blood samples taken from EDTA venous tubes (Sarstedt). Samlpes have been measured with 4 SMART A1c Analysers Material: SMART700/340 Analysers SMART 1...SNO Aa 0249 SMART 2...SNO Aa 0853 SMART 3...SNO Ab 0732 SMART 4...SNO Aa 0248 SMART HBA1c testkits Article Code ST0110 LOT: 408-3 Exp. 09/2009 Suppliers additional information: New Stabilized Enzyme Format HBA1c Testkits Factory Calibrated, no recalibration or control measurement before analysis. Data Reduction/Statistical Methodes: Data Reduction was made by using Excel Software and several statistical methods: Passing and Bablok Regression Passing and Bablok Residuals Band and Altman Plot Author: Karl Danzmayer Diateam Diagnostika und Arzneimittel GmbH Estermannstrasse 17 4020 Linz Austria

Clinicians should take note of eventual discrepancy between methods seen for individual samples in various evaluations made for HBA1c platforms. For a given patient, variabilities can be minimised by consistent use of a single analytical methode.
