4 Report No.: NT1/2001/en/ Handling: RESTRIKTIV 1 Background The purpose the INTERWELD project is to enlight important questions concerning weld residual stresses in austenitic stainless steel welds under neutron irradiation. The practical relevance is the assessment the service behaviour welded core shroud structures in BWR plants. 5 Report No.: NT1/2001/en/ Handling: RESTRIKTIV 2.4 Temperature records during welding In the original plan the project, it has been planned to perform a finite element analysis to numerically determine the weld residual stresses. This objective has been removed to meet the budget constraints the EC (see item 6 chapter 6.4 in Annex I - Description Work). The temperature records would have been a part this task, because the data would have been necessary to do the calculations. However, during the preparation the proposal it was forgotten, to remove this point from the task list WP Dye penetrant results The dye penetrant tests after welding did not show any surface cracks.
