3 Synapse, a complex system based on a simple module A product halfway between object and architecture. An intelligent module for grouping in infinite configurations, to create luminous dividers, partitions and suspended ceilings. Francisco Gomez Paz drew inspiration from nature to develop this innovative lighting concept that combines functional quality and beauty, putting them at the service of human beings and their spaces. The Argentine designer has decided to transfer the process that facilitates communication among neurons into a luminous creation. The connection between cells is called a synapse, and it plays a fundamental role in the formulation of our ideas and emotions. Synapse is surprising for its essential form and simplicity of use. The modules connect together with extreme speed, thanks to a basic mechanical attachment that also provides the passage for electricity from one module to the next. A single electrical wire powers a large number of modules. The final result is a self-supporting surface, free of structures, that can be vertically suspended thanks to a kit, or applied to the wall or ceiling. Francisco Gomez Paz ha tratto ispirazione dalla natura per sviluppare un innovativo concetto d illuminazione che associa funzionalità e bellezza mettendole al servizio dell uomo e dei suoi spazi. Il designer argentino ha scelto di trasferire in una creazione luminosa il processo che favorisce la comunicazione tra i neuroni. Questa congiunzione tra una cellula e l altra prende il nome di sinapsi ed è alla base delle nostre idee ed emozioni. Synapse sorprende per la sua essenzialità formale e semplicità d uso. I moduli si collegano tra di loro con estrema rapidità grazie a un semplice aggancio meccanico che stabilisce anche il passaggio di elettricità tra un modulo e l altro. Un singolo cavo elettrico alimenta un grande numero di moduli. Il risultato finale è una superficie autoportante libera da strutture che può essere sospesa verticalmente mediante un kit di sospensione oppure applicata a parete o soffitto. Francisco Gomez Paz hat sich von der Natur inspirieren lassen bei der Entwicklung eines innovativen Beleuchtungskonzepts, das Funktionalität und Schönheit vereint und sie in den Dienst des Menschen und seiner Lebensräume stellt. Der argentinische Designer entschied sich für die Übertragung des Prozesses, mit dem die Neuronen Kommunikation unterstützt wird, auf eine Kreation aus Licht. Diese Art der Verbindung von einer Zelle zur anderen trägt die Bezeichnung Synapse und steht an der Basis unserer Ideen und Gefühle. Synapse überrascht durch ihre essentielle Form und den einfachen Einsatz. Die Module lassen sich dank einer einfachen, mechanischen Verbindung, über die auch die Stromversorgung von einem Modul zum anderen sichergestellt wird, ungewöhnlich rasch zusammenstellen. Mit nur einem einzigen Stromkabel wird eine große Anzahl Module gespeist. Das Endergebnis ist eine selbsttragende, frei schwebende Struktur, die mit Hilfe des entsprechenden Zubehörs vertikal aufgehängt oder auf der Wand bzw. auf der Decke angebracht werden kann. Un seul câble électrique alimente un grand nombre de modules. Le résultat final est une surface autoportante libre de toute structure qui peut être suspendue verticalement avec un kit de suspension ou appliquée à un mur ou au plafond. El diseñador argentino ha decidido transferir a una creación luminosa el proceso que favorece la comunicación entre las neuronas. Esta conjunción entre dos células recibe el nombre de sinapsis y es la base de nuestras ideas y emociones. Synapse sorprende por su esencialidad formal y su simplicidad de uso. Los módulos se unen entre sí muy rápidamente gracias a un simple enganche mecánico que establece también el paso de la electricidad entre dos módulos. Un solo cable eléctrico alimenta un gran número de módulos. El resultado final es una superficie autoportante, libre de estructuras, que puede suspenderse verticalmente mediante un kit de suspensión o bien, aplicarse a la pared o al techo. 4 5

In keeping with the Luceplan philosophy of always translating technological complexity into ease of use, Synapse is a luminous cell with a trilobate form, composed of two polycarbonate shells containing a printed circuit and three RGB LEDs of variable color. Thanks to its simple connection method and refined sculptural organization, the Synapse system just like the physiological structure of the same name is capable of producing surprising, elegant decorative effects, creating spaces and volumes in keeping with unusual geometric forms and effects, to generate a luminous atmosphere that can be shaped by the user. Synapse offers an intelligent response to the needs of contemporary living. Thanks to its total compositional freedom, it can adapt to small spaces in the home, or the large spaces typical of the contract market. Coerente con la filosofia di Luceplan, che si propone da sempre di tradurre la complessità tecnologica in semplicità d uso, Synapse è una cellula luminosa di forma trilobata, composta da due gusci in Bayblend, nella quale sono racchiusi un circuito stampato e tre sorgenti LED RGB a colore variabile. In virtù della sua elementare connettività e della sua raffinata trama scultorea, il sistema Synapse, proprio come la struttura che lo ha ispirato, è in grado di produrre sorprendenti ed eleganti effetti decorativi, articolando spazi e volumi secondo inedite geometrie estetiche e dando luogo ad atmosfere di luce caratterizzabili dall utente. Gracias a su conectividad elemental y a su trama escultórica sofisticada, el sistema Synapse, al igual que la estructura de la que toma inspiración, consigue producir efectos decorativos sorprendentes y elegantes, articulando espacios y volúmenes según unas geometrías estéticas inéditas, que dan lugar a atmósferas de luz que puede personalizar el usuario. Synapse responde de un modo inteligente a las necesidades del estilo de vida contemporáneo.
