1 ROMPA INFRARED SQUASH SWITCH INTRODUCTION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS In common with all the switches in the range, the Squash Switch is an infra-red transmitter and works in a similar manner to the remote control for a television receiver or video recorder: it squirts out a specific code of pulses of invisible infra-red light. The squash switch operates on channel 4 (See Switching Controller instructions). On the side facing you is an on/off switch and on the far side emerges a flexible plastic tube which is terminated in the squash pad E. Also on the far side are a jack socket C and the infrared emitter D. The switch is primarily intended for use with the ROMPA infra-red switching controller (in the red box), but it will work equally well with the earlier ROMPA switching controller, model SC3, though not in infra-red mode. It is also compatible with the React controller, but again not in infrared mode. The switch is supplied with a coiled cable H having a jack plug on each end. This serves two purposes: - 1. When used with the earlier SC3 controller or the React controller, the switch needs to be connected to the controller using this cable. 2. Because it is a freestanding transmitter, the switch contains batteries. These are of the rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium type, and by leaving the switch connected to the

2 controller, assuming that the controller is switched on, they will be charged. To fully charge the batteries from completely flat takes 15 hours. It is impossible to overcharge the batteries, so leaving them to charge overnight is perfectly safe. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE WITH THE ROMPA INFRARED SWITCHING CONTROLLER Upon receipt, the batteries will not be charged, but if you are naturally impatient to try it out, the switch can be used with the coiled cable. Simply plug one end into the switch and the other into the controller. The controller needs to be connected to the 230 Volts supply (115 Volts where applicable), and switched on. When the squash pad is depressed, the red light on the Controller will be illuminated. If a Panel, Bubble Tube, Fibre Optic Light source etc. is plugged into the Controller, it will be energised. (See Controller instructions). As noted above, the Squash Switch has an on/off rocker switch on the side. Press the white spot to turn it on and the other side of the rocker to turn it off. The switch does not need to be on for the Squash Switch to operate in the cable connected mode; however, it does for infrared operation. The main purpose of the rocker switch is to prevent the batteries being flattened or the infra-red emitter burning out if the Squash Switch is put away carelessly e.g. with something on the squash pad; this will activate the switch. So switch it off when not in use. Battery life (between charges) is dependent upon usage. When operation becomes erratic in infrared mode, but not when the coiled cable is used, the batteries need charging.

3 CONTACTEUR À PRESSER FONCTIONNEMENT Comme tous les contacteurs de la gamme ROMPA, le contacteur à presser est un transmetteur à infrarouge. Il fonctionne en la même façon qu une commande à distance pour la télévision il fait sortir une série de pulsations de lumière infrarouge. Le contacteur à presser fonctionne à la chaîne 4 (voir les notices pour l appareil de contrôle pour le récepteur à infrarouge). Il y a un bouton pour allumer et éteindre sur un côté. Sur l autre côté il y a une prise femelle jack C, l émetteur à infrarouge D et un fil avec un petit coussinet E à son extrême. Ce contacteur est conçu pour l usage avec l appareil de contrôle pour le récepteur à infrarouge (la boîte rouge), mais il marche aussi avec les appareils de contrôle précédents, le SC3 et React, mais il ne marche pas à infrarouge avec ces appareils. Ce contacteur comprend un fil enroulé H avec un fil jack à chaque bout. 1. Si vous avez l appareil SC3, ou l appareil React, connectez le contacteur à l appareil en vous servant de ce fil. 2. Le contacteur est un transmetteur, et par conséquent, il comprend les piles. Ces piles sont de nickel-cadmium, et elles sont rechargeables. Connectez le contacteur à l appareil de contrôle pour le récepteur à infrarouge, et allumez l appareil de contrôle

4 pour recharger ces piles. Il faut 15 heures pour recharger les piles qui sont à plat. On ne peut pas surcharger les piles par conséquent on peut les laisser recharger pendant la nuit sans danger. L USAGE DE CE CONTACTEUR AVEC L APPAREIL DE CONTRÔLE DE RECEPTEUR À INFRAROUGE Quand vous recevez le contacteur, les piles sont à plat. Si vous n avez pas envie de recharger les piles, vous pouvez utiliser le fil enroulé. Connectez un bout de ce fil au contacteur et l autre à l appareil de contrôle de récepteur à infrarouge. Branchez l appareil de contrôle et allumez. Appuyez doucement sur le petit coussinet du contacteur pour l activer et pour allumer la lumière rouge de l appareil de contrôle. Vous pourriez connecter un autre produit directement à l appareil de contrôle pour brancher (voir les notices de l appareil de contrôle). Pour allumer le contacteur, poussez le bouton sur le côté (appuyez sur le point blanc pour allumer, et sur l autre côté pour éteindre). Il n est pas nécessaire allumer ce contacteur pour l activer quand le fil enroulé est attaché. Le contacteur devrait être allumé pour le faire fonctionner à infrarouge. Éteignez le contacteur quand il est hors d usage. Sinon, il faut le recharger plus souvent. Rechargez les piles pour faire fonctionner le contacteur à infrarouge quand vous en avez besoin.

5 ROMPA INFRAROT DRUCKSCHALTER EINLEITUNG UND BEDIENUNGSANLEITUNG Wie alle anderen Schalter in der Reihe, ist der Druckschalter ein Infrarotsender und funktioniert ähnlich wie die Fernbedienung eines Fernsehers oder Videorekorders: er gibt ein spezifisches Signal von unsichtbarem Infrarotlicht aus. Der Druckschalter läuft auf Kanal 4 (siehe Anleitung für das Empfänger/Schalterkontrollgerät). Aus der Seite des Schaltergehäuses kommt ein biegsames Kunststoffrohr an dessem Ende das Druckkissen E angebracht ist und an der Ihnen zugerichteten Seite befindet sich der Ein/Aus Schalter. An der entfernteren Seite befinden sich eine Klinkenbuchse C und der Infrarotsender D. Der Schalter ist in erster Linie für den Gebrauch mit dem ROMPA Infrarot Empfänger/Schalterkontrollgerät (in der roten Kiste) gedacht, kann aber genausogut, wenngleich nicht im Infrarotprogramm, mit dem älteren ROMPA Empfänger/Schalterkontrollgerät, Modell SC3, benutzt werden. Es funktioniert auch mit der React Control Einheit, auch hier nicht im Infrarotprogramm. Der Schalter wird mit einem Spiralkabel H geliefert, daß an jedem Ende einen Klinkenstecker hat. Dieses Kabel dient zwei Zwecken:- 1. Wenn der Schalter mit dem älteren SC3 Empfänger/Schalterkontrollgerät oder der React Control Einheit benutzt wird, muß der Schalter über dieses Kabel mit der Kontrolleinheit verbunden werden.

6 2. Da es ein freistehender Sender ist, enthält der Schalter Batterien. Diese sind vom Nickel-Kadmium Typ und werden, wenn der Schalter durch das Kabel mit der eingeschaltenen Kontrolleinheit verbunden ist, aufgeladen. Es dauert 15 Stunden die Batterien voll aufzuladen. Da es nicht möglich ist die Batterien zu überladen, kann man sie beruhigt über Nacht aufladen lassen. BEDIENUNGSANLEITUNG FÜR DEN GEBRAUCH MIT DEM ROMPA INFRAROT EMPFÄNGER/SCHALTERKONTROLLGERÄT Bei Lieferung sind die Batterien nicht geladen. Wenn Sie den Schalter testen möchten, können Sie den Schalter mit dem Kabel benutzen. Stecken Sie einfach ein Ende des Kabels in den Schalter und das andere in die Kontrolleinheit. Die Kontrolleinheit muß mit der Stromzufuhr verbunden und dann eingeschaltet werden. Wenn das Druckkissen des Schalters gedrückt wird, leuchtet das rote Licht an der Kontrolleinheit auf. Wenn eine Einheit, Blasensäule, Fiberglaslichtquelle usw. mit der Kontrolleinheit verbunden ist, so wird sie mit Strom versorgt. (Siehe Anleitung für das Empfänger/Schalterkontrollgerät). Dieser Schalter hat einen Ein/Aus Kippschalter an der Seite. Drücken Sie die weiße Seite, um einzuschalten, und die andere Seite des Kippschalters, um auszuschalten. Bei Kabelverbindung braucht dieser Schalter nicht gedrückt zu sein, damit der Druckschalter funktioniert, für den Infrarotgebrauch ist es jedoch notwendig. Die Hauptaufgabe dieses Kippschalters ist es, ein Verbrauchen der Batterien zu vermeiden und das Durchbrennen des Infrarotsenders zu verhindern. Wird der Schalter achtlos z.b. mit etwas auf dem Druckkissen liegend weggetan wird, so wird er aktiviert. Schalten Sie daher das Gerät aus, wenn es nicht benutzt wird. Die Lebensdauer der Batterie (zwischen dem Aufladen) hängt vom Gebrauch ab. Wenn der Schalter im Infrarotgebrauch unzuverlässig ist, im Kabelgebrauch jedoch funktioniert, so müssen die Batterien aufgeladen werden.
