This brochure contains information on tickets, how and where to purchase them and on some special means of transport. Furthermore, this brochure will give you suggestions for day trips and tours by public transport, as well as information on timetables and maps of Dresden and the entire. 3 About us About us One ticket. For everything. Simply use busses, regional trains, trams and most ferries as you wish. Your ticket is valid almost everywhere and it does not matter where you purchase it. Just change wherever you like. Convenient connections and synchronised timetables make it easy. Modern vehicles, train stations and park-and-ride-facilities ensure that your journey by public transport in Dresden and the Upper Elbe Region is easy and convenient. The The region of the VVO is divided into 21 tariff zones. No matter which service you use or how often you change between various modes of transport: these zones that can be distinguished by numbers and different colours are the basis for your fare rate. Just count the number of zones you are travelling through. The price of your ticket is displayed in the fare overview on page 6. Busses, trains, trams and ferries connect more than 3,800 stops along 310 lines. We are here to ensure you enjoy the best possible public transport experience while travelling in the Upper Elbe Region. 6 Dresden Card Dresden-City-Card (in EUR) 1 day days Dresden city centre Brühlsche Terrasse Out and about with the Dresden Card The Dresden City Card is your ticket on busses, trams, trains and ferries within the city of Dresden and on tram line 4 to Weinböhla. The card entitles you to buy reduced tickets for the Dresden mountain railways and offers discounts at over 90 partner establishments. The Dresden Regio Card provides unlimited travel on all local public transport services throughout the entire Upper Elbe public transport network (see VVO map last page) except on our historic means of transport and on the Meißen sightseeing bus. It entitles holders to purchase discounted fares on Dresden s mountain railways, the Meißen sightseeing bus, the Lößnitzgrundbahn and the Weißeritztalbahn trains, as well as the Kirnitzschtalbahn tram. 7 Elbe Labe Ticket Belvedér viewing point Cross-border journeys with the Elbe-Labe ticket Purchase your ticket at service centres of the transport companies at the ticket machines of the German railways (DB) at stations and aboard selected trains from the bus driver of regional bus services The Elbe-Labe tickets are valid from validation until 4 am the next day. Further information on timetables in English can be found at: The Elbe-Labe ticket offers you unlimited mobility. The ticket is valid in the entire, on all cross-border busand train services, the cross-border ferry Schöna-Hřensko and on all trains and most bus services in the Ústí nad Labem region (Czech Republic). Since 2014, the rail line U 28 has been connecting Rumburk with Sebnitz, Bad Schandau and Děčín and is making it even easier to visit both Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland. Order your brochure in our shop at: or via the InfoHotline +49 (0) Lößnitzgrundbahn Narrow-gauge railway SPECIAL MEANS OF TRANSPORT Kirnitzschtalbahn In 1898 the tram set out on its first tour. Between the starting point in the heart of the town park of Bad Schandau and the end point next to the Lichtenhain Waterfall, the tram winds its way along the Kirnitzsch river. On its way there are nine stops, including the mills in Ostrau and Mittelndorf and the Beuthenfall, a waterfall. The valley of the river Kirnitzsch is the starting point for wonderful hiking tours through the rock formations of Saxon Switzerland. Dresdner Schwebebahn Take a trip with the world s oldest mountain suspension railway and enjoy a spectacular view from the hill-top terrace. Dresdner Standseilbahn The funicular was taken into service in 1895 to link the elegant residential area atop the Elbe hills with the city of Dresden. Both mountain railways offer guided tours of the engine house which offer interesting insights for everyone. The funicular is suitable for wheelchairs. 120 years Dresdner Standseilbahn Experience by yourself that the funicular railway is still pretty young. 9 Inspiring journeys Journeys with a view special means of transport The Meißen Cathedral Lößnitzgrundbahn The narrow-gauge railway is one of the oldest in Germany and travels at a leisurely pace from Radebeul Ost, via Moritzburg to Radeburg. Travel along vineyards, see the impressive hunting palace of Augustus the Strong at Moritzburg and enjoy the lakes around it. Meißen Sightseeing Guided tours through the narrow cobbled streets of Meißen offer an attractive overview. Among the highlights of the tours are the MEISSEN manufactury, the Cathedral and the mighty Albrechtsburg Castle. The Meißen seightseeing tour is suitable for wheelchairs. Ferries Get aboard the ferry from Bad Schandau to Hřensko, enjoy spectacular views of the rocks of the Saxon Switzerland an see the beauty of the Elbe valley. Information on fares and timetables is available online at: Weißeritztalbahn Germany s oldest narrow-gauge railway runs through the Eastern Ore Mountains. The beauty of many nature reserves along the tracks with their scenic variety makes this one of the most picturesque routes in Europe. It connects the city of Freital with the wild, romantic Rabenauer Grund (a valley of the Rote Weißeritz stream) and the hilly landscape of the upper Ore Mountains. Ferry boat Saxon Switzerland
