Neben vielen anderen Faktoren darf die Bedeutung der Stimme beim Flirten und der Partnerwahl zwischen Mann und Frau nicht vernachlässigt werden. Oft wird der Partnerkontakt bzw. der Flirt durch rein mündliche Kommunikation (z.b. telefonisch) hergestellt. Bei einer solchen Begrenzung haben die Stimme und Sprechweise einen großen Einfluss darauf, ob man die gewünschte Wirkung beim Gesprächspartner erzielt. Es geht dabei um Gefühle, die durch die Stimme auf Seiten des Sprechers ausgedrückt und beim Hörer hervorgerufen werden. In der zwischenmenschlichen Kommunikation ergeben sich allein durch den Sprechausdruck ziemlich große Variationsmöglichkeiten in der Wahrnehmung einer Äußerung. Weil die Berücksichtigung sämtlicher Variationsmöglichkeiten den Rahmen dieser Untersuchung gesprengt hätte, wird in dieser Arbeit die Aufnahme und Verarbeitung von sprachlichen Äußerungen nur in einem Ausschnitt ihrer Komplexität dargestellt. Der erste Teil der Arbeit enthält einen kurzen Überblick über die bisherigen Studien zu Partnerwahl, Persönlichkeitsmerkmalen, Frauenstimmen sowie allgemeinen akustischen Merkmalen der Stimmen. Im zweiten Teil wird die empirische Studie zur Auswahl der Partnerin anhand ihrer Stimme präsentiert. Als Material dienten Stimmaufnahmen von Frauen aus einer Flirt-Fernsehsendung. Die Sprechsignale werden darin auf seine Hörerwahrnehmung untersucht. Danach erfolgt eine verbale Beschreibung der Sprechaufnahmen. Anschließend werden die Ergebnisse der akustischen Analyse dargestellt. Tabellen, Graphiken und der Fragebogen werden im dritten Teil, dem Anhang dargestellt.
