Schnitzeljagd - english Kurzbeschrieb Die Schnitzeljagd in englischer Sprache führt die Schülerinnen und Schüler durch die Hallen des Verkehrshauses der Schweiz. Sie sollen dabei die Hallen und wichtige Exponate mit ihren faszinierenden Details entdecken, die sie als Schnitzel-Hinweise für den nächsten Schritt benötigen. Dazu ist auch Inhaltliches ein Thema (content based). So müssen die Lernenden nicht nur den richtigen Weg finden, sondern zusätzlich noch Fragen zu den einzelnen Hinweisen beantworten können. Die Aufgabe wird für die Schülerinnen und Schüler dadurch etwas vereinfacht, dass im Verkehrshaus der Schweiz sämtliche Anschriften auch in englischer Sprache verfügbar sind. Vorbereitung des Besuchs Vokabular zum Thema Verkehr mit den SuS aufbauen. Durchführung des Besuchs Die Aufgabe ist als Gruppenarbeit konzipiert. Die SuS starten die Schnitzeljagd (Schülerblatt) und beantworten die Fragen zu den Posten auf Englisch. Es besteht die Möglichkeit an drei verschiedenen Punkten in den Parcours zu starten. Wenn sich die Lernenden nicht zu sehr in die Quere kommen sollen, sollten die unterschiedlichen Starts unbedingt genutzt werden. Die Schnitzeljagd ist als geschlossener Rundgang konzipiert. Wenn man also auf der letzten Seite angekommen ist, geht es auf der ersten Seite wieder los. Es sollte vor dem Start ein Treffpunkt und ein Zeitlimit und vereinbart werden. Nach der Schnitzeljagd soll die Klasse schliesslich wieder komplett sein. Lösung Start 1: Entrance Hall, in front of the Information desk Look out for a Member sign. Close by you find a spyglass. Take a look! Go exactly to the place the spyglass points at. What is the highest number you find on one of the cable cars? 24 Sit into the one with the most letters S on it. Go where you look at now. Take as many steps down as the number you found above. When you enter the next room, be a captain on the MS Adelboden. Where did this ship operate? The MS Adelboden operated on the Rhine between Basel and Rotterdam. When the captain of the ship turns around, he or she can see something from outer space. Go there! What is this thing from outer space? It s a European carrier rocket How tall is it? 8,65 meters Walk that many meters into the building on your left. Start 2: Aircraft Hall, orange gondola: Breitling Orbiter 2 Look around and find Breitling Orbiter 2. Who travelled in this gondola? Bertrand Piccard What was it made for? The gondola was made for a balloon. Bertrand Piccard wanted to travel around the world in it. Look through the back window (the bigger one) of Orbiter 2 and right though the gondola. What do you see? What else happened in 1969? Find out on the 2 nd floor of that building. Hint: You have to look for a newspaper. The first man (Louis Armstrong) landed on the moon. It was an american success. Next to the newspaper you find two objects on a piece of wood. Draw them into the boxes below. A small and dark stone and a Swiss flag. What do these objects have in common? Both objects were on the moon. In 1969, the airline Swiss was called: Swissair When you look out the window, you see a big airplane from that airline. Go and have take look at it! Enter the plane Swiss*** Coronado. Count 31 windows on the right side and look through that window. You ll see a big sign with a number on it. Go follow that sign! Enter the building at the closest entry. Follow the white line on the ground. Stop when you see the year of the first man on the moon. (Hint: look left and don t leave the building!) This car runs with petrol. Petrol is produced out of fossile energy. Go upstairs and find the touch-screen about fossile energy. Answer the following exercises and questions: The potential of fossile energy in Switzerland is very limited. What type of stone goes with fossile energy? Anthracite coal Describe the stone: It s black. It glitters at some parts. It s not flat. It has got structure. What means of transport ran on coal at beginning? Motorcycle Steamboat Car Steam locomotive Find out more about the one running on fixed tracks. Steam locomotive Go outside the building and watch out for coal. (Don t worry, you don t have to shovel it.) On the right side of the coal is an information board. On that board you can see a picture of a steam locomotive. What s its name? The C 5/6 Elephant Go inside the building and find that locomotive. (Don t look to far, it s very big and really close!) Why do you think it s called like that? It is very big/huge, like an elephant.
