1. I n t r o d u c t i o n The LAN/USB Cable Tester is designed to easily read the correct cable pin out configuration. The cables include the USB (A/A), USB (A/B), BNC 10Base-T, 100Base-TX, 1000Base-TX, Token Ring, AT&T 258A, Coaxial, EIA/TIA 568A/568B, and RJ11/RJ12 modular cables. You can connect cable if you want to test BNC, Coaxial, RCA modular cables, if you want to test cable installed far away, either on patch panel or wall plate, use the Remote terminator. The LAN/USB Cable Tester tests RJ11/RJ12 cable, please use the appropriate adaptors and follow the procedure below to use it very easily and correctly. 2. W a r n i n g Please do not use in live circuits. When the POWER LED does not light, you must change the battery for testing. 3. O p e r a t i o n 1. Using the master tester, plug one end of the tested cable (RJ45/USB) to the marked with TX, and another end of tested cable to the marked with RX, or Remote terminator RJ45/USB connector. 2. Turn the power switch to TEST. In the step by step mode, the LED for pin 1 with light up. With each press of the TEST button, the LED will scroll in sequence. In the AUTO scan mode, the upper row of LEDs will begin to scroll in sequence from pin 1 to pin 8, and ground. 3. Reading the result of the LED display tells you the correct status of the tested cable. If you read out the incorrect LED display, the tested cable is short open, reversed, miss-wired, or crossed. Note: If the battery is low on power the LEDs will be dimmed or will not light up and the tester result will be incorrect. 1
4. R e m o t e 1. Using the master tester, plug one end of tested cable to the marked with TX STECKER and another end on the receiving of Remote terminator. Turn the power switch to Auto mode and use the adaptor cable, if the cable terminates into a patch panel or wall plate. 2. The LED on the Remote terminator will begin to scroll, in relation to the master tester indicating the cable s pin out. Correct: Open: Crossed: 2

1. I n t r o d u c t i o n Der LAN/USB Kabel Tester ist für das einfache Auslesen der korrekten Kabelanschlussbelegung entwickelt worden. Folgende Kabel können getestet werden: USB (A/A), USB (A/B), BNC 10Base-T, 100Base-TX, 1000Base-TX, Token Ring, AT&T 258A, Koaxial, EIA/TIA 568A/568B, und RJ11/RJ12 Modular-Kabel. Wenn Sie bereits verlegte Kabel oder aber Kabel auf einem Patch Panel oder einer Anschlussdose testen wollen, verwenden Sie bitte den Remote Terminator. Wenn Sie RJ11/RJ12 Kabel testen wollen, verwenden Sie bitte den dazugehörigen Adapter und befolgen den unten angegebenen Ablauf. 2. W a r n u n g Nicht in aktiven Netzen verwenden. Wenn die POWER LED nicht leuchtet, tauschen Sie bitte die Batterien. 3. B e t r i e b 1. Verbinden Sie ein Ende des zu testenden Kabels (RJ45/USB) mit dem mit TX, und das andere Ende mit dem mit RX gekennzeichnetem Anschluss des Hauptgerätes, oder mit dem RJ45/USB Anschluss des Remote Terminators. 2. Stellen Sie den Schalter auf TEST. Im Schritt für Schritt Modus, beginnt die LED für Pin 1 zu leuchten. Mit jedem drücken des TEST Knopfes schaltet die LED Anzeige der Reihe nach weiter. Im AUTO Modus beginnt die obere Reihe der LEDs der Reihe nach von Pin 1 bis Pin 8 und G (Ground) aufzuleuchten. 3. Den Verbindungsstatus des Kabels können Sie anhand der LED Anzeige ablesen. Wenn Sie die falsche LED-Anzeige erhalten, ist das geprüfte Kabel kurzgeschlossen, verdreht, falschverdrahtet oder gekreuzt. Hinweis: Wenn die Batterie fast leer ist, werden die LEDs dunkler oder leuchten nicht und die Testergebnisse können falsch sein. 4
4. R e m o t e 1. Verbinden Sie ein Ende des zu testenden Kabels (RJ45/USB) mit dem mit TX, gekennzeichnetem Anschluss des Hauptgerätes und das andere Ende mit dem mit RX gekennzeichnetem Anschluss des Remote Terminators. Stellen Sie den Schalter auf AUTO und benutzen Sie das Adapterkabel, wenn das Kabel auf ein Patch Panel oder einer Anschlussdose endet. 2.
