Exercise 1: Understanding the lyrics First of all, read through the song lyrics on the Liedtext sheet. You can find the English translations of the underlined words on the right hand side. Use a dictionary to look up any other words you don t understand. Pump up the volume! Listen to the song as loud as you like. You can follow the lyrics on the Liedtext sheet. Exercise 2: Fill in the gaps Turn over the Liedtext sheet so you can t read the lyrics. Play the song again and try to fill in the missing words in the text below. Exercise 3: Karaoke To do karaoke, it s important to overcome the worry of making a fool of yourself in front of others. It s the same with learning a language. So... now it s time to sing along to the song! Play the song again. First, sing all the words you have filled in in the text above and sing along to the chorus. When you ve got the hang of it, you can sing all of the verses, too. Why not split up into groups and take a verse each? Top points for the best singers! Exercise 5: What s it all about?... As the Germans say, In der Kürze liegt die Würze. (Literally: In shortness lies the spice. ). See if you can sum up the song, one sentence per verse. You can use a dictionary to look up the words you don t understand, and don t be afraid of taking a guess!
