1 ca Geschichte des Wintertourismus in Mürren Mürren (1640 m) ist mit 320 Einwohnerinnen und Einwohner die höchste Dauersiedlung im Kanton Bern. Das autofreie Dorf liegt über einer senkrechten Felswand rund 800 m über dem Talboden. Die Walser besiedeln Mürren, wahrscheinlich aus Richtung Süden Das Bergdorf Mürren, welches eine eigene Bäuert ausmacht, verfügt über einen sehr steilen und beschwerlichen Zugang. Im Dorf stehen 33 Häuser, mit 26 Haushaltungen und 92 Einwohnern. Diese Bergbauern sind die bemittelsten unter allen in der ganzen Talschaft. Sie haben 110 Küh-Winterungen, ziemlich gutes, trockenes Bauland, das aber den Schneelawinen und Bergbrüchen ausgesetzt ist. Deutsche wie Erich Mendelsohn, Friedrich Nietsche und Johann Wolfgang Goethe kommen nach Mürren in die Ferien Das erste Hotel wird in Mürren gebaut, am Standort der heutigen Post Christian Gurtner eröffnet das Hotel «Des Alpes» welches 1884 abbrennt. Das erste Haus Montana wird gebaut Natureisbahn beim Hotel Palace. 1911/12 Die ersten Engländer kommen nach Mürren. 1912, 20. Januar 1922, 21. Januar Gründung des Skiclub Mürren (SMC). Einweihung der Allmendhubelbahn Hotel Alpenruhe brennt im Oktober ab. Der erste Slalom in der alpinen Skigeschichte, so wie wir diesen heute noch kennen, wird neben dem Hotel Jungfrau in Mürren ausgeflaggt Gründung des britischen Ladies Skiclub in Mürren durch die skibegeisterten Engländerinnen Lady Mabel Lunn, Doreen Elliott und Duncan Harvey mit Unterstützung von Sir Arnold Lunn im Hotel Palace. 1924, 30. Januar 1926, 18. November 1928, 29. Januar 1931, 19. bis 22. Februar Gründung des britischen Kandahar Skiclubs und des Schweizerischen Akademischen Skiclubs (SAS). Brandnacht in Mürren. In dieser Nacht brennen u.a. das Hotel Des Alpes, der Fremdenbasar Amstutz und das Photografenatelier Martin. Eine Woche nach dem Grossbrand fallen in Mürren 30 cm Schnee und die Allmendhubel-Bobbahn, die Schlittelbahnen und die Eisfelder werden eröffnet. Durchführung des ersten Infernorennens mit 18 Teilnehmern, darunter vier Frauen. Sieger wird Harold Mitchell (1 Std. 12 Min.), den vierten Rang belegt Doreen Elliott (1 Std. 22 Min.), dies obwohl sie unterwegs eine verunglückte Kollegin versorgt hat. Das zweite Haus Montana wird gebaut Gründung des Schweizerischen Damen-Skiclubs (SDS) durch Elsa Roth in Mürren Gründung der ersten Skischule der Schweiz in Mürren. Austragung der ersten alpinen Weltmeisterschaften im Slalom und in der Abfahrt unter der Leitung von Sir Arnold Lunn.
