4 Introduction This section briefly describes the possibilities of the PRE16/26 Preamplifier. T he PRE16/26 Preamplifier was developed as an easy to use, flexible solution for multifunctional use. During the development of the PRE16/26, the AUDAC-engineers wanted to achieve four goals: - Delivering a flexible audio solution to control multiple functions - Easy to use - Excellent sound quality - Modern and advanced design The Audac PRE16/26 stereo preamplifiers are designed to be used in combination with the Audac D, T, Q and CPA Series Amplifiers, but can also be used for various other applications. It has 2 balanced XLR microphone inputs which are both equipped with a gain control, a 3-band tone control, phantom power and a talk over function. Channel 1 is constructed as a balanced stereo line input channel, fitted with 2 balanced XLR connectors, a stereo/mono switch and a gain control. Channels 2, 3 and 4 are constructed as unbalanced stereo line input channels, each fitted with 2 RCA/Cinch connectors and a gain control. The output section features 2 balanced XLR connectors and a stereo/mono switch for every output zone. The PRE16/26 can be used in commercial applications such as restaurants, hotels, shops, warehouses, professional offices, public buildings, and many more. 3

5 Chapter 1 Environment Do not place this unit in an enclosed environment such as a bookshelf or closet. Ensure that there is adequate ventilation to cool the unit. Do not place the unit in environments which contain high levels of dust, heat, moisture or vibration. Do not use the unit near water or other liquids. Make sure no water or other liquids can be spilled, dripped or splashed on the unit. This unit was developed for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Do not place objects on top of the unit. Place the unit on a stable base or mount it in a stable 19 rack. 4

6 Safety Requirements Always handle the unit with care. Only use a grounded socket outlet and a power cord with grounding plug to plug in the unit. This unit is not a toy. It should not be operated by children. Do not stick objects through the openings. Do not open the unit (risk for electrical shock). CAUTION SERVICING This unit contains no user serviceable parts. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Do not perform any servicing unless you are qualified to do so. 9 Front panel description 1. Input Volume Control: The Input Volume Control knobs allow you to adjust the individual level for each input channel. 2. Clip LED indicator: These indicator LED s warn against clipping on the input signal. When the clip LED indicator is flickering, the input signal level is 3dB below clipping level and the gain control potentiometer on the back of the amplifier has to be reduced. 3. Signal routing buttons (ONLY PRE26): These buttons allow you to select the routing of every input channel to one or both output channels. By pressing this button, the corresponding input signal will be routed to the selected output zone. By pressing the same button again, the routing of the signal will be repealed. 4. Routing indication LED s (ONLY PRE26): These LED s indicate to which output zones the corresponding input signal is routed. The Z1 LED represents Output 1, and Z2 represents Output Segment LED bar: This LED bar indicates the level of the output signal for the corresponding output zone. 6. Output channel EQ control: Every output channel has a two band tone control whereby specific frequency ranges of the signal can be amplified or attenuated. It can be adjusted over a range of ± 15 db. 7. Master volume control: With this knob, the overall volume of the corresponding output channel can be adjusted. 8. Power button and power indicator LED: The power switch has to be used for turning the device on/off. A blue power indicator LED lights up when the PRE16/26 is turned on. 8

11 Rear panel description 9. Unbalanced stereo line inputs: These unbalanced line level inputs can be connected to equipment with unbalanced line level outputs. A gain control potentiometer is provided to control the level of the input signal. There are three stereo unbalanced line inputs available on the PRE16/ Balanced stereo line input: The balanced stereo line input allows connecting a music source with balanced line outputs. A gain control potentiometer is provided to control the level of the input signal and a mono/stereo switch allows to select the output mode. When switched to mono, the stereo signals are mixed to mono and are available on both Left and Right output channels Band tone control: Every microphone input channel has a separate three band tone control, whereby specific frequency ranges of the signal can be amplified or attenuated. It can be adjusted over a range of ± 15 db. 12. Balanced microphone input: There are two balanced microphone inputs available 13. Microphone phantom power switch: If a microphone requires phantom power, the phantom power switch of the corresponding Mic channel can be switched ON. This applies +15 V DC phantom power to the microphone. 14. Microphone talk over switch: When the talk over switch is turned ON, all other connected music sources will be suppressed when a signal is present at the corresponding Mic channel. This function is mainly used for paging purposes. 15. Balanced stereo line output: The output zone(s) have balanced stereo XLR output terminals. The main amplifier can be connected to these output terminal. 16. AC power inlet with fuse: The mains power supply (110~240V AC / 50~60 Hz) has to be applied to this AC power inlet. The connection is made by an IEC power connector and is fitted with a fuse. When replacing the fuse, make sure that the value of the replacement fuse matches the value of the original fuse (500 ma / 250V). 10

12 Chapter 3 Connections and Connectors The in- and output connections of AUDAC audio equipment are performed corresponding to international wiring standards for professional audio equipment. Cinch (RCA): tip = signal (left or right) ring = ground XLR: 1 = ground / shield 2 = +sig 3 = -sig XLR female: XLR male: 6.3mm (1/4 ) balanced jack plug: tip = +sig ring = -sig sleeve = ground / shield 6.3mm (1/4 ) unbalanced jack plug: tip = signal sleeve = ground / shield 11

13 Chapter 4 Getting Started The PRE16/26 Preamplifier can be switched on by pressing the power button on the front panel. The blue ON LED will light up if the device is powered-up. On the front panel, every channel has a Clip LED indicator to control the input levels. Each input channel also features 2 buttons and a series of green indication LED s to control the routing of the input signal (Only PRE26). For the output section, every zone has its own 6 segment LED bar, master volume control knob and 2 band control knobs to control the output signal. The volume of the input signals can be controlled by turning the volume knobs of the input signals on the front panel of the PRE16/26. The master volume knob and the 2 band tone control knobs allow you to adjust the volume, bass and treble of the output signal. A VU-bar indicates the signal level of the output signal. 12

20 Einleitung Dieser Abschnitt gibt einen kurzen Überblick über die Ausstattungsmerkmale des PRE16/26 Vorverstärkers. Der PRE16/26 Vorverstärker wurde entwickelt wie eine benutzerfreundliche, flexible Lösung für multifunktionale Verwendung. Während der Entwicklung des PRE16/26 wollten die AUDAC Ingenieure zum 4 Ziele kommen: - Eine flexible Audio Lösung lancieren um mehrfache Funktionen zu kontrollieren. - Benutzerfreundlichkeit. - Ausgezeichnete Tonqualität. - Modernes und fortschrittliches Design Die AUDAC PRE16/26 Stereo Vorverstärker wurden entwickelt für Verwendung mit die Audac D, T, Q und CPA Serien Verstärker, aber man kann sie auch verwenden für verschiedene andere Anwendungen. Es hat 2 balancierte XLR-Mikrofoneingänge beide ausgestattet mit Verstärkungskontrolle, eine 3-Band Tonregelung, Phantomspeisung und Crossover Funktion. K1 setzt sich zusammen aus einen balancierten Stereo Linie Eingangskanal, ausgestattet mit 2 balancierten XLR-Anschlüssen, einen Stereo/Mono Schalter und eine Verstärkungskontrolle. K2, 3 und 4 sind ausgestattet mit unbalancierten Stereo Linie Eingangskanälen. Jede ausgestattet mit 2 RCA/Cinch Anschlüssen und eine Verstärkungskontrolle. Der PRE 16/26 können Sie verwenden in kommerzielle Anwendungen wie Gaststätten, Hotels, Geschäfte, Kaufhäuser, Professionelle Büros, offenbare Gebäude, und so viel mehr. 4

21 Umgebung Stellen Sie den Apparat nicht in einer abgeschlossenen Umgebung wie ein Büchergestell oder einen Schrank. Sorgen Sie für ausreichende Ventilation um den Apparat ab zu kühlen. Stellen Sie diesen Apparat nicht in einer Umgebung wo es viel Staub, Hitze, Feuchtigkeit oder Vibration gibt. Benutzen Sie den Apparat nicht dicht zu Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten. Sorgen Sie dass kein Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten auf den Apparat gekleckert, getropft oder gespritzt werden. Dieser Apparat wurde entwickelt nur für Gebrauch im Hause. Benutzten Sie es nicht auβer Hause. Stellen Sie keine Gegenstände auf den Apparat. Stellen Sie das Apparat auf eine feste Basis oder montieren Sie es in einem 19 Gestell. 5

22 Sicherheitshinweise Hantieren Sie diesen Apparat immer mit Sorge. Gebrauchen Sie nur eine Steckdose mit Erdung und ein Stromkabel mit einem Stecker mit Erdung um den Apparat ein zu schalten. Dieser Apparat ist kein Spielzeug. Kinder dürfen es nicht bedienen. Stechen Sie keine Gegenstände in den Öffnungen. Machen Sie den Apparat nicht auf (Risiko auf Stromschlag). WARNUNG WARTUNG Dieser Apparat enthält keine Zubehörteile die den Gebraucher unterhalten muss. Nur spezialisiertes Wartungspersonal soll den Apparat unterhalten. 25 Beschreibung Frontblende 1. Lautstärke Kontrolle Eingang: Die Lautstärke Kontrolle Eingang Knöpfe erlauben Sie das individuelle Niveau jedes Ausgangskanals an zu passen. 2. Clip LED Lämpchen: Diese Kontrollelämpchen warnen vor clipping auf das Eingangssignal. Wenn das Clip LED Kontrollelämpchen blinkert, ist das Niveau des Eingangsignals 3dB unter das Clippingsniveau und muss man das Potentiometer auf die Geräterückseite der Verstärkungskontrolle verringern. 3. Signal routing Knöpfe (NUR PRE26): Diese Knöpfe erlauben Sie die Routing jedes Eingangskanals aus zu wählen nach einen oder beiden Ausgangskanälen. Wenn Sie auf diesen Knopf drücken, wird das ähnliche Eingangssignal routiert nach der ausgewählte Ausgangszone. Wenn Sie nochmals drücken, wird die Routing des Signals rückgängig gemacht. 4. Routing Kontrolle LEDs (NUR PRE26): Diese LEDs bezeichnen nach welchen Ausgangszonen das ähnliche Signal routiert ist. LED Z1 vertretet Ausgang 1 und LED Z2 vertretet Ausgang Segment LED bar: Dieser LED bar bezeichnet das Niveau des Ausgangssignals für die ähnliche Ausgangszone. 6. Ausgangskanal EQ Kontrolle: Jedes Ausgangssignal hat eine 2-Band Tonregelung wobei spezifische Frequenzbereiche des Signals verstärkt oder gedämpft werden kann. Man kann es anpassen über einen Bereich von ± 15 db. 7. Haupt Lautstärke Kontrolle: Mit diesem Knopf kann man die allgemeine Lautstärke des ähnlichen Ausgangskanals anpassen. 8. Stromknopf und LED Stromindikator: Der Stromschalter muss man anwenden um das Gerät ein/aus zu schalten. Wenn der PRE16/26 eingeschaltet ist wird einen Blauen LED Indikator erleuchten. 9

27 Beschreibung Geräterückseite 9. Unbalancierte Stereo Linie Eingänge: Diese unbalancierte Stereo Linie Eingänge kann man verbinden mit Anlage mit unbalancierte Linie Niveau Ausgänge. Einen Verstärkungskontrolle Potentiometer ist ausgestattet um das Niveau des Eingangssignals zu kontrollieren. Es gibt 3 Stereo unbalancierte Linie Eingänge auf den PRE16/ Balancierte Stereo Linie Eingang: Der balancierte Stereo Linie Eingang erlauben Sie eine Musikquelle mit balancierte Linie Ausgänge zu verbinden. Einen Verstäkungskontrolle Potentiometer ist ausgestattet um das Niveau des Signaleingangs aus zu wählen und einen Mono/Stereo Schalter erlauben Sie den Ausgangsmodus aus zu wählen. Wenn das Gerät in Mono geschaltet ist, sind die Stereo Signale gemischt mit Mono und sie sind vorhanden auf beiden Linke und Rechte Ausgangskanäle Band Tonregelung: Jedes Mikrofon Eingangskanal hat einen separaten 3-Band Tonregelung, wobei spezifische Frequenzbereiche des Signals verstärkt oder gedämpft werden kann. Man kann es anpassen über einen Bereich von ± 15 db. 12. Balancierter Mikrofon Eingang: Es gibt 2 balancierte Mikrofon Eingänge. 13. Mikrofon Phantom Stromschalter: Wenn ein Mikrofon Phantomspeisung braucht, kann man die Phantomspeisung Schalter des ähnlichen Mikrofons einschalten. Man braucht +15 V DC Phantomspeisung nach dem Mikrofon. 14. Mikrofon Crossover Schalter: Wenn der Crossover Schalter eingeschaltet ist, werden alle andere angeschlossen Musikquellen blockiert wenn ein Signal auf den ähnlichen Mikrofonkanal gibt. Diese Funktion gebraucht man hauptsächlich für Paging Ziele. 15. Balancierte Stereo Linie Eingang: Die Ausgangszone(n) haben balanciertes Stereo XLR-Ausgangsterminals. Der Hauptverstärker kann man verbinden mit diesem Ausgangsterminal. 16. AC Speisungseingang mit Sicherung: Die Haupt Netzspannung (110~240V AC / 50~60 Hz) muss man verbinden mit diesem AC Speisungseingang. Die Verbindung macht man durch einen IEC Stromanschluss und ist ausgestattet mit einer Sicherung. Wenn Sie die Sicherung ändern, sorg dafür dass den Wert der geänderten Sicherung übereinstimmt mit dem Wert der originalen Sicherung (500mA / 250V). 11

28 Verbindungen und Anschlüsse Die Ein-und Ausgänge der Verbindungen der Audac Audio Equipment funktionieren ähnlich den internationalen Verdrahtung Richtlinien für professional Audio Equipment. Cinch (RCA): Tip = Signal (links oder rechts) Ring = Erdung XLR: 1 = Erdung, Schutz 2 = + sig 3 = - sig XLR weiblich : XLR männlich: 6.3mm (1/4 ) balancierte Steckdose: Tip = +sig Ring = -sig Hülse = Erdung / Schutz 6.3mm (1/4 ) unbalancierte Steckdose: Tip = Signal Hülse = Erdung / Schutz 12

29 Sich an die Arbeit machen Der PRE16/26 kann man einschalten wenn man drückt auf den Stromknopf auf die Frontblende. Der blaue EIN LED wird erleuchten wenn Sie das Gerät einschalten. Jeder Kanal hat einen Clip LED Kontrollelämpchen auf die Frontblende, so können Sie die Eingangsniveaus kontrollieren. Jeder Eingangskanal hat auch 2 Knöpfe und eine Serie von grüne LED Indikatoren, so können Sie die Routing des Eingangssignals (nur PRE26) kontrollieren. Jede Zone hat für den Ausgangsteil seinen eigenen LED bar mit 6 Zonen, Hauptlautstärke Kontrolleknopf und 2-Band Kontrolleknöpfe, so können Sie das Ausgangssignal kontrollieren. Die Lautstärke der Eingangssignale können Sie kontrollieren wenn Sie die Lautstärke Knöpfe des Eingangssignals auf die Frontblende des PRE16/26 herumdrehen. Die Hauptlautstärke Knopf und die 2-Band Tonregelung erlauben Sie Lautstärke, Bass und Diskant des Signals an zu passen. Ein VU-Bar bezeichnet das Signal Niveau des Ausgangsniveaus. 13
