Equipment, intended for the use at work / by consumer According to the German product safety act (ProdSG), consumer products are not only products which are intended for the use by consumers, but also products which can be used by consumers under conditions which are reasonably foreseeable. For consumer products, essential aspects which are determining the risk analysis of commercial used products need to be assessed differently. These are: - instruction of the employees - operation only by persons older than 14 years - the foreseeable erratic behavior is limited to commercial environment - duty of supervision of the employer within the scope of her/his responsibility - frequent test of safety precautions By law, these risk analysis criteria can only be used in the course of the GS-test mark granting, if the user information (operations manual) does specify the age and qualification of an operator and the fact that the product is for commercial use only within the description of the intended use. In all other cases, we are obliged to apply the test criteria for consumer products including the increased safety measures. Electrical equipment For electrical commercial catering equipment with heating elements and dishwashing machines, the test can be performed on site, if the electrical equipment complies with the requirements of EN for machines (such as separate installation room, degree of protection IP54, main switch provided, etc.). If the electrical equipment merely complies with the requirements EN for household machines (such as deep fat fryers, grill plates, stoves, grill units, etc.), the tests can be performed at our test laboratory in Mannheim. The increased effort for testing according to EN will get considered in our quote.

5 Process of the testing of occupational safety Manufacturer contacts the test and certification body in Mannheim Tel: or Mainz Tel: 06131/ The test and certification body sends an inquiry form for a detailed description of the equipment Appointment of a date for testing between our inspector and the manufacturer The manufacturer returns the filled inquiry form to the test and certification body Assessment of the equipment by the inspector at one of our test laboratories or at any other agreed location Preparation of a quote with respect to the provided information When the test is passed: Issuance of the inspection document (certificate) Is the manufacturer accepting the quote? yes If applicable: authorization for using a test mark no NV no test and certification; no costs!
