3 Grosstanklager-Ölhafen Mineral oils, liquid products Grosstanklager-Ölhafen (GÖR) is a joint venture of SHRU and TOTAL Deutschland GmbH. The company has three tank farms with a total capacity of 700,000 m 3 for storing and handling mineral oils and other liquid products. Oils and fuels are handled via six berths and are stored, supplemented with additives, if necessary, and forwarded by tank lorry, tank wagon or pipeline. GÖR also has a modern tank lorry filling stations. The oil port handles mineral oils, naphtha, ethanol, methanol, pyrolysis petrol, biodiesel, rapeseed oil, soybean oil and xyloltoluol. Modern plants with six lanes such as the vapour recovery units and the fully automated dispatch system comply with the high safety and environmental standards and ensure safe storage and speedy handling. The berths and tanks are connected by pipeline with the refineries at Schwedt, Böhlen and Leuna. Five loading and unloading rail tracks are available for loading the tank wagons. 5 Getreide Service GRAIN, FEEDSTUFFS, OILSEEDS, BUILDING MATERIALS, FERTILIZER This port section handles the import and export of grain, oilseeds and malt and the import of building materials and fertilizer at three berths, of which two are suitable for ships of 100,000 tdw carrying capacity. A ship loader with an hourly performance of 1000 tons is available at the grain terminal. The ships are discharged via unloaders capable of moving up to 300 tons of cargo per hour. An integrated conveyor belt system takes care of moving the grain from the stores to the ships. The silo capacity for the valuable cargo amounts to 360,000 tons. Receiving gutters for trucks and wagons assure a speedy unloading of the grain. The building materials coming in by sea are loaded by crane onto separate open-air storage areas and onto means of surface transport. For companies established at the port, for instance for the neighbouring malt-house of Malteurop, Getreide Service handles brewer s barley from northern Europe which they turn into malt and export as the finished product. For this Getreide Service has developed an integrated system between the port s own silos and the malt-house. With this service we offer locational advantages for the establishment of companies who place the delivery of raw materials and the removal of their finished products into our competent hands. 7 Düngemittel Dienstleistung Fertilizer This subsidiary handles the export of fertilizers. The fertilizer quay is equipped with a ship loader, a wagon loading station, a conveyer belt system and two special halls for fertilizer with a storing capacity of 60,000 tons. The ship loader has a capacity of 1,000 tons per hour. Cargoes can reach this terminal by rail or lorry. The products which are handled at this quay are potash, SSA, KAS and sulfan. 400,000 tons up to 500,000 tons are handled per year. The facility also serves as a location for distribution which can provide for both the overseas export of fertilizers and the German market. 9 Bulk Terminal Dry Bulk cargo Bulk Terminal (BTR) is a port cargo handling company specialising in the handling of dry bulk cargoes suitable for grab loading. The location at Rostock sea port means a short approach from the roads to the berths and a very good connection with the railway and road network. The specialised facilities allow for each cargo type to be handled according to its specific needs on a high level of quality and technology. Apart from hard coal the company currently handled ores, building materials, fertilizer, gypsum, peat and wood chips. Two hopper gantry cranes and two ship unloading plants with performance rates of up to 2,000 tons per hour are available. All of them are fitted with belt conveyor scales and magnetic belt separators. Extensive storage capabilities add to the handling capacities. Right next to the berths and thus within reach of the cranes there are 20,000 m 2 of quay storage. In addition further 100,000 m 2 of storage areas are available in the 2nd line of storage. All these areas are connected among themselves by conveyor belt systems and devices for putting into and retrieval from storage. The hard coal storage capacity is around 300,000 tons. Also available is a wagon loading station with a maximum loading performance of 800 tons per hours. Loading onto trucks is not only performed by the cranes but also by wheel loaders, and there are separate truck scales for weighing the trucks. The conveyor belt and loading systems are controlled and monitored by a modern control room. The discharging capacity for coal vessels is 20,000 tons per day. 11 General Cargo Terminal GmbH General Cargo This most all-round part of the port, the Hansa quay, has 13 berths where conventional general cargo, heavy lift cargo and bulk cargo vessels are handled, mostly in tramp traffic. Besides a number of heavy-duty cranes of up to 100 tons hoisting capacity and forklifts up to 32 tons capacity GCT operates dedicated terminals for scrap and bags. General Cargo Terminal GmbH (GCT), with an annual cargo handling volume of more than 1 million tons, is the leading company for handling of all kinds of conventional cargo in the port of Rostock. Main commodities are steel products, nonferrous metals, plaster boards, project cargo, heavy cargo, bags, scrap and cement. Furthermore the handling and storage of container and bulk cargo are belonging to the range of services. For storage, distribution and value added services there are three quay sheds (63,000 m 2 ) and ca. 105,000 m 2 open storage, all connected by rail, road and water. 13 PLU Papier- Lager- und Umschlaggesellschaft mbh Paper, Ferry, RoRo PLU Papier- Lager- und Umschlaggesellschaft mbh is the cargo handling company on Pier I. This port section is characterised by ferry and RoRo traffic. The direct rail and road connections enable a speedy supply and dispatch of the goods. PLU owns 3 storehouses with ca. 30,000 m 2 storage facilities especially for storage of RoRo cargo and paper. PLU is equipped with modern scanner technology, state-of-the-art stackers, clamps, tugmaster, RoRo-trailer and cassettes systems for the handling of paper as well as for terminal operation of ferries and handling of other RoRo cargo. Currently PLU handles approx. 500,000 tons per year from paper mills in Scandinavia, Germany, France and Austria. Next to paper imports from Finland there are regular shipments to the United States and Great Britain. 15 Rostock Trimodal GmbH Intermodal The terminal for intermodal traffic with an area of more than 20,000 sqm is located next to the RoRo terminals and ferry berths on Pier 1 in the port of Rostock. The fact that train schedules are fixed in direct combination to vessel schedules as well as a spot connection to motorways A19 to Berlin and A20 to Hamburg guarantees a very short handling time of units of all kinds. Specialised lift trucks with a handling capacity of up to 45 tons are able to fulfil customers needs in an excellent manner. 20 block trains per week pass through Rostock.
