1 Kandinsky 1c Primary School Wichtelgasse Dipl.Päd. Barbara Krauthaufer & Sandra McGregor Position relationship in form of a self-produced Kandinsky picture Part 1: Painting of the picture. (Arts and crafts) 1. Short introduction of the artist Wassily Kandinsky ( ) Three pictures were introduced to and discussed with the children; 2. Work steps were discussed and materials were prepared; Children were given an A4 sheet of drawing paper where six fields had been previously added; Requirements: four circles with different colours in each field were drawn and coloured in with oil crayons. The background was completed with colouring pencils.

2 3. The teacher then laminated the finished pictures and attached board magnets to the back of the picture. Part 2: Working with and practising the positions. (mathematic) Preperation: Each small picture was laid together to make a large picture of a rectangle or square. Prepared exercises: Repeating UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT in a playful way.

4 Experience with the picture: - Children looked for different fields (left, right, up and down) with the help of the teacher and described the colours in this particular field. - The teacher chose a starting point and an ending point and put a blackboard magnet on the starting point. The children then had to verbally guide a child standing at the board, with help of, for example, 3 steps right, 2 steps left 4 steps down etc, to the ending point. - 1 Child chooses a field and describes it, the child does not say which field he or she is describing and decides on an ending point. Another child then has to try to find the ending point and asks the child that chose the field whether it is right or not. - A child hunts another child over the fields until one or the other makes a mistake. For example: the child at the blackboard goes in the wrong direction, or the child that chose the way goes off of the end of the picture. Other possibilities: In the free study hour or in the break, the children were able to set each other tasks. A selection of cards gave instructions so that one or more children could read the instructions. Closing comments: With little preparation, children could practice moving around in a grid. Due to the crafting of the pictures the children were able to build an emotional relationship to them. Considering that they were able to describe which picture belonged to them and were very proud when one of their own fields was chosen. Due to the magnets on the back of the pictures we can reorganise the smaller pictures into a larger one over and over again always creating new and different works of art that can very much be compared to the artist Wassily Kandinsky s works themselves. 5 Lagebeziehungen erleben im selbst gestalteten Kandinsky Bild Teil 1: Gestalten des Bildes (bildnerische Erziehung) 1. Kurzes Vorstellen des Künstlers Wassily Kandinsky ( ); drei Bilder werden gezeigt und mit den Kindern besprochen; 2. Arbeitsschritte und Materialien werden festgelegt; Kinder bekommen ein A4 Zeichenblatt, auf dem sechs Felder eingezeichnet sind; Auflagen: vier Kreise mit unterschiedlichen Farben pro Feld mit Ölkreiden malen; das Feld mit Buntstift ausmalen; 3. Die Lehrerin laminiert und magnetisiert die Bilder der Kinder; Teil 2: Erarbeiten und üben von Lagebeziehungen (Mathematik) Vorbereitung: Einzelne Bilder werden zu einem großen Bild zusammengefügt (quadratisches oder rechteckiges Bild); Vorbereitende Übungen: Wiederholung oben, unten, links, rechts in spielerischer Form.

6 Begegnung mit dem Bild: - Kinder suchen nach Anweisung der Lehrerin das Feld links oben, recht unten, und beschreiben seine Farben; - Die Lehrerin wählt einen Ausgangspunkt und einen Endpunkt. Die Kinder müssen nun mit einem Magneten den Weg zum Ziel abgehen und verbalisieren, z. B.: drei Schritte rechts, vier Schritte nach unten -> Ziel; - 1 Kind sucht sich ein Feld aus und beschreibt es; es verrät nicht, welches Feld es meint; ein Ausgangspunkt wird festgelegt; ein Kind versucht nun an der Tafel, den Weg zum richtigen Feld zu finden; ist es am angenommenen Ziel, fragt es das Kind, das gewählt hat, ob es richtig liegt; - Ein K jagt das andere Kind über das Feld, solange bis einer der beiden einen Fehler macht, z. B. das Kind an der Tafel geht in die falsche Richtung; das Kind, das ansagt, hat einen Weg gewählt, der aus dem Bild hinaus führt; Weitere Einsatzmöglichkeiten: In der Freiarbeit oder in der Pause können zwei oder mehrere Kinder sich gegenseitig Aufgaben stellen; Eine Kartei gibt Anweisungen, sodass sich ein Kind seinen Auftrag erlesen kann; Abschließende Bemerkung: Mit wenig Aufwand können Kinder spielerisch üben, sich in einem Raster sicher zu bewegen. Durch das eigene Gestalten des Materials ist ein emotionaler Zugang gegeben; die Kinder betonen immer wieder, welches Bild von ihnen ist und sind stolz, wenn eines ihrer Felder ausgewählt wurde. Durch die Magnete an der Rückseite kann man die großen Bilder immer wieder neu zusammensetzen, und es entstehen immer neue Kunstwerke, die sich durchaus mit denen des Künstlers Wassily Kandinsky messen können.
