2 DIN a Norm in Transit

3 DIN Scope This norm applies only to remanufactured toner modules. It defines the properties and the functions after the manufacturing process as well as the tests for the proof of the application of toner modules, which are refilled with black toner. The objective of the norm is to guarantee a constant print quality and a flawless function over the whole length of use of the modules.

5 DIN Manufacturing Process remanufactured toner cartridges have to pass a manufacturing process which contains the following steps: Incoming Inspection Dismantling and cleaning Exchange of wearing parts Refill of toner and performance test

7 DIN Test Procedures Property of the prints The prints produced with the prepared toner modules ("Testprints") have to pass a direct comparison test, determined in in this norm, in which they have to correspond without important changes, according to the properties determined in part up to 5.5.9, to the prints produced with an original module ("Comparing Prints"). Not fundamental according to this norm is a deviation, that influence the use properties insignificantly.

9 DIN Packaging The toner modules according to this norm have to be protected individually against external influences through packaging. The packaging has to be suitable to pallets, it has to pass the drop test according to DIN EN and it has to be recyclable. The inner packaging has to be a protection against light and moisture. The packed modules have to be stored according to the instructions given on the outer packaging.

10 DIN Marking The marking of the toner modules according to this norm has to include at least Name of the producer or trade mark Type/ model of the toner module Range of application (original machine [s]) and/ or group number Determined number of productiveness Security advises (if necassary) Information that the toner module is prepared according to DIN Date of preparing Information of the passed preparations of the module

11 DIN Marking Date of preparing The date consists of three numbers, the first one is the number of year whereas the following two numbers stand for the week (01-52) (e.g. 344 means the year 2003 and the week 44 of year).

12 DIN Marking Information of the passed preparations of the module through a marking in the margin of the label: up for the first, right for the second, down for the third and left for the fourth preparation.
