Wenn ein neuer Typ Zylinderkopf an Zylinder 3 installiert ist oder nachgerüstet wird (spätestens bei Triebwerkstausch), Wechsel des Kühlmittels von Propylenglykol (EVANS) auf Ethylenglykol / Wasser Gemisch und dazu Umrüstung auf getrennte Öl- und Wasserkühler. Damit läuft die Ersatzteilversorgung für das alte Kühlsystem (kombinierte MAHLE - Kühler) demnächst aus. Außerdem Absenkung der Betriebsgrenze für maximal zulässige Zylinderkopftemperatur auf 120 C. Auf Halterwunsch oder bei Defekt des kombinierten MAHLE - Kühlers kann die Umrüstung auf getrennte Öl- und Wasserkühler und Ethylenglykol / Wassergemisch auch unabhängig vom neuen Typ der Zylinderköpfe durchgeführt werden. 3 DOA Nr.: EASA.21J.025 Seite/Page: 3 of 5 Anlass: Wenn ein neuer Typ Zylinderkopf (Rotax TNr ) an Zylinder 3 (mit Zylinderkopftemperatursensor) vorhanden ist oder nachgerüstet wird, zeigt die CHT-Anzeige nicht mehr die Werkstofftemperatur des Zylinderkopfes sondern direkt die Kühlmitteltemperatur an. Das Wasser- / Glykol-Gemisch darf physikalisch maximal 120 C bei einem Druck von 1,2 bar warm werden bevor es verdampft. Die Kühlleistung ist nicht betroffen, da nur zu einer geänderten Sensorposition der Bereich der zulässigen Temperatur-Werte angepasst wird. Historie: Das Kühlsystem der Baureihe AT01 mit kombiniertem Wasser- und Ölkühler wurde 2001 nach dem damals gültigen Einbauhandbuch für den Rotax 912 vom LBA zugelassen. Basierend auf dem Rotax SB wurde die LTA D R1 herausgegeben, die eine Herabsetzung der maximalen Zylinderkopftemperatur oder die Verwendung eines geeigneten Kühlmittels erforderte. Um eine Neuauslegung des Kühlsystems zu vermeiden, wurde das für höhere Temperaturen geeignete EVANS erprobt und nachgewiesen, dass die Rotax Grenzwerte damit eingehalten werden können. Mit Einführung der neuen Zylinderköpfe (basierend auf 912iS) für den 912 schließt nun Rotax SB R1 die Verwendung von wasserfreiem Kühlmittel aus. Die Kühlleistung der Baureihe AT01 ist für die Verwendung von Wasser- / Glykol-Gemisch zu gering. Aktuell: Wenn ein neuer Typ Zylinderkopf (Rotax TNr ) an Zylinder 3 (mit Zylinderkopftemperatursensor) vorhanden ist oder nachgerüstet wird, ist eine Umrüstung auf das leistungsfähigere Kühlsystem der Baureihe AT mit getrennten Kühlern und Wasser- / Glykol-Gemisch erforderlich. Außerdem wird die Betriebsgrenze für maximal zulässige Zylinderkopftemperatur auf 120 C gesenkt. Die Kühlleistung ist andernfalls nicht ausreichend und Folgeschäden können nicht ausgeschlossen werden. Eingeschränkte Lieferbarkeit / hohe Kosten für kombinierten MAHLE - Kühler. Reason: If a new type of cylinder head (Rotax P/N ) at cylinder no. 3 (with CHT-sensor) is existent or retrofitted, the CHT-gauge shows no longer the material temperature of the cylinder head but directly the coolant temperature. The water / glycol mixture has a maximum physical operating temperature of 120 C / 248 F at a pressure of 1,2 bar before vaporization occurs. Cooling performance is not affected, because for a new sensor position the range of allowable temperature values is adopted only. History: The cooling system of Model AT01 with combined water- and oil radiator was certified by German LBA according to the effective installation manual for Rotax 912 at that time. Based on Rotax SB AD (LT R1 was issued, which mandated to lower the limit for CHT or the use of a suitable coolant. To prevent a redesign of the cooling system, EVANS - which is suitable for higher temperatures - was tested and compliance was shown with the Rotax limitations. With introduction of the new cylinder heads (based on 912iS) for the 912 Rotax SB R1 now rules out the use of EVANS. The cooling performance of model AT01 is too low for use with water / glycol mixture. Now: If a new type of cylinder head (Rotax P/N ) at cylinder no. 3 (with CHT-sensor) is existent or retrofitted, a retrofit to the more efficient cooling system of model AT with separated radiators and water / glycol mixture is required. In addition the Limitation for maximum allowable cylinder head temperature is lowered to 120 C (248 F). Otherwise cooling performance is not sufficient and subsequent damages cannot be ruled out. Limited availability / high cost for combined MAHLE radiator.
