Entstanden sind archetypische Häuser, in denenvier Wände, Satteldach, Tür und Fenster Raum für etwas ganz Wesentliches umschließen: Wohnen in seiner reinsten Form. category 6 maria Vine, vicky daroca gladbachstrasse 71 ch-8044 zurich T. + 41 79 3048848 The building for storage of wine bottles is the first phase of the extension of the winery Martin Berdugo. It is amidst a field of vineyards in an arid landscape with a raw climate, large fluctuation of temperature and has to protect against aggressive natural factors. At the same time these factors represent a contextual reference. The consistency of the earth, its texture, the colours furnish the material of the project. The new volume emerges as hermetic fortress. The silhouette underlines this image. With its archaic presence the building reacts to the intense exposition of the light and filters it through a façade that acts on several levels. Some panels even lose themselves from the façade, in the sense of a fortress they even remind of shields, the tight gaps allow the entrance of indirect light and natural cross ventilation. The whole two-layered outer skin was produced with prefabricated concrete panels of different dimensions and sections that are all multiple of one base module. The two-layered outer walls have good thermic behaviour; the interior climate is relatively constant, it is possible to avoid on additional acclimatisation most of the year. In contrast to the solid appearance of the outside the interior has an industrial character with its metallic roof structure. The heterogeneous colouring was obtained by using different pigmented masses that were poured into the panels and mixed by mechanic vibration and also manually as to create very different patterns. The abstract patterns can evoke different kinds of images and underline the appearance of an archaic building fitting to the harsh landscape. situation elevations section a winery martin berdugo, aranda de duero (spain)
