2 Bewerbung Die Bewerbung um einen Studienplatz für das ganze Studienjahr oder eines der beiden Semester muss bis 15. April (genauere Informationen und Bewerbungsformular erhältlich unter ) beim Koordinator Thomas Dillinger einlangen. Folgende Unterlagen sind für die Bewerbung notwendig: Bewerbungsformular des Fachbereichs Portfolio über die wichtigsten bisher erfolgten Tätigkeiten im Studium (Entwerfen, Projekte,...) Motivationsschreiben über die Gründe warum sie einen Aufenthalt an einer ausländischen Universität absolvieren wollen Lebenslauf inklusive Sprachkenntnisse (ggf. mit Nachweis) Sammelzeugnis über den bisherigen Erfolg im Studium Weitergehende Informationen: Dipl. 3 National Technical University of Athens Studienprogramm 1 Studio Courses - Theory and project courses - Division of courses There are five categories of compulsory courses: - Studio - History and Theory - Visual Arts and Representation - Urban and Regional Planning - Architectural Technology The first two categories are present throughout the studies. Urban and Regional Planning includes courses mainly offered in the last five semesters, while the other two categories offer basic knowledge usually acquired in the first four semesters. In most Studio courses, and especially those of the last semesters, there is collaboration of more than one thematic areas and the project requires creative combination. History and Theory includes information from the fields of History of Architecture, History of Art, Urban History and Theory of Architecture. The elective courses correspond to the thematic areas of the Departments, they are addressed to all students, but teaching takes place in small groups who choose them in order to go into more a detailed study on particular topics of the curriculum, or to specialise according to their personal interests. Every Department offers each semester a number of elective courses. Elective courses may be offered by several Departments in collaboration, but one Department assumes organisational responsibility. Elective courses are taught for three hours per week, in groups of 10 to 60 students, by one to three teachers, and they are organised like Theory and Project courses. The particular content of lectures and assignments, the teaching method and the course requirements are announced by the teachers at least one week before lectures begin. During the first week of term students sign up for the course by applying both to the secretary's office and to the teachers who are in charge of controlling the number of students. During the second week lists of names are drawn up for each course, and if a course does not have ten students or more, it is suppressed or integrated with another one of similar content. The above lists are fixed once they are compiled. No enrolment or change is acceptable after the third week. At the end of the academic year there is exhibition or presentation of student work from all elective courses, to create opportunities for information and evaluation concerning the educational process, from the part of both students and teachers. The categories of courses above, offered by the School of Architecture, are supported by general instruction courses offered by the School of Applied Mathematics and Physics and by the School of Surveying: -either as compulsory courses (Mathematics) -or as elective courses (Elements of Law and Technical Legislation, Philosophy-Aesthetics, Surveying, Statistics, Physics). Teaching collaborations - Courses based on inter-departmental collaboration Teaching collaborations involve a large number of courses, Studio or Theory and Project, while it is thought useful that they should also take place in elective courses. In the course curriculum: - "Offered by more than one Department in collaboration" means that the teaching process involves groups of teachers coming form different Departments and thematic areas. The teaching group, based on the educational objective of the course, decides jointly on its content (field, subject, aims, bibliography) and its procedure (lectures, visits, mid-term project submissions, presentations, evaluation), and offers feedback collectively. The subject may be common for all the students, or there may be various topics, all however in equivalent fields and with equivalent aims bibliography etc. There is one single mark for this course. - "Offered with an option" means that different teaching groups teaching the same course submit their topics to the students, who select a topic and a teaching group. In this case, even though the topics are different, they serve or supplement in their own way the general educational objective of the course. The mark is given by the Department offering the option chosen. The students' choice may be based on the following criteria: - either the different method of approaching the general educational objective of the course proposed by each of the collaborating groups - or the particular form in which every group present their proposed topic, as well as the general educational aim or the educational object of the course. - "Participation" means that the participating Department or thematic area follows the course throughout the semester and has a role supplementary to that of the Department mainly offering the course. The duties of teachers from the participating Department include lectures for all the students taking the course and participation in feedback and criticism, but not in the marking of the project. "Partial participation" means that the above teaching activity takes place for a period of time which is equivalent to part only of a semester and not to a complete one

4 Informationen zum Aufenthalt 2 Accommodation Student accommodation is not currently available in the NTUA. However, the Erasmus Office of the University can assist students in finding private accommodation. Courses Teaching normally starts the last week of September. The contact person of your university or Ms I. Efesiou will help you choose the courses you can attend during your stay in the NTUA. Once you have made your choice you have to report it to the Erasmus Office of the Faculty (Tositsa building, 3rd floor, room 301). A special feature of our Faculty is its method of teaching through projects in the majority of the courses offered, particularly at the advanced levels. Problem oriented project work in teams and close contact with teachers may be different from the teaching you are accustomed to. It is advisable that you form groups with local students, so that you can become better acquainted with the methods and have an easier access to the necessary material and field work areas. Language The Foreign Language Centre of the NTUA offers Greek language courses for in-coming students, with two sessions in each semester: an intensive one for beginners and a follow up for continuing students. Exams and Grades In some of the courses you have to take written or oral exams. The respective teachers will advise you how this can be arranged. At the end of each academic semester, the Erasmus Office of the Faculty will issue a cerificate including the courses you have taken and the grades you have obtained. This has to be signed by the Dean of Faculty and presented to your University.
