10 Labeling field and bill of material The labeling field is used to draw up text and is arranged in the lower corner of the drawing. After folding the drawing to DIN A4 format it is supposed to be on top and the text has to be readable in correct direction The bill of material can be either arranged on the assembly drawing or on a separate piece of paper Prof. Dr.-Ing. 20 Standard Parts Standard parts are usually dimensionless in drawings, but they are listed in the bill of material with their exact standard denotation. Standardized products are listed with their denotation, the standard number and the feature block. The feature block can exist of characteristics for shape and type, number, characteristical values (e.g. dimensions), material information and performance information (e.g. surface treatment). Examples: Hexagon head screws (DIN EN 24014) with thread M8, length L = 50 mm, strength category 8.8, and product category A: Hexagon head screw ISO 4014 M8 x A Round bar steel according to DIN 1013 with 20 mm made of C35 E: Round DIN C 35 E (Source: Hoischen, Technisches Zeichnen) Prof. Dr.-Ing. 21 Example: Hexagon head screw The labelling is e.g.: hexagon head screw DIN EN M8x This means: nominal diameter: d = 8mm Length (without head): l = 25mm strength category: 8.8 (tensile strength Rm = 800 N/mm 2, yield strength Re = 0.8*Rm) For screws according to DIN b = l. For screws with fine threads the standards DIN EN and DIN EN exist, as well. The new standards DIN EN... differ to the old standard DIN 931 mainly in the wrench sizes.
