1 PRESS RELEASE APG AND EPEX SPOT LAUNCH AUSTRIAN INTRADAY MARKET Important milestone for implementing the Pan-European Intraday Target Model achieved Vienna / Paris, 17 October 2012 The Austrian Transmission System Operator, Austrian Power Grid AG (APG), and the European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT SE have jointly launched an Intraday market in Austria on 16 October 2012 and connected it, via an open interface provided by APG, to the Franco-German Intraday markets. Physical and financial settlement of the new Austrian power contracts are provided by Europe s central clearing house for energy, European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC). The launch of the Austrian Intraday market in the control zone of APG constitutes an important milestone for implementing the Pan-European Intraday Target Model for continuous implicit Intraday trading, as described in the ACER Framework Guidelines on Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management. The Austrian Intraday market is henceforth connected to the French and German Intraday markets of EPEX SPOT: Market participants from the three countries will benefit from the pooled liquidity and more harmonized trading and operational rules. The existing mechanism for Austrian-German cross-border schedules nomination is not affected and remains available for all market participants. In a subsequent step of the integration process of the Austrian Intraday market, the cross-border Intraday lead-times for trading between Austria, France and Germany will be further improved: APG and EPEX SPOT, together with other concerned parties, are working on a synchronization of the local and cross-border trading gate closure times on the Power Exchange, in order to enable cross-border trading closer to real-time. These improvements are scheduled for 2013 subject to successful testing of systems and regulatory approvals. EPEX SPOT and APG have now set up the necessary infrastructure to ensure a smooth integration of the Austrian market into the Pan-European Intraday Target Solution, consisting of a Shared Order Book and a centralized Capacity Management Module.

The APG grid spans about km of power lines, which are constantly managed, maintained and further developed along the increasing economic needs by a team of 450 specialists. In close cooperation with the TSOs of fellow European states the APG grid lays the foundation for the realization of a free European electricity market. VERBUND AG holds 100% shares within APG. EPEX SPOT SE operates the power spot markets for France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland (Day Ahead and Intraday). Together these countries account for more than one third of the European electricity consumption. EPEX SPOT is a Paris-based company under European law (Societas Europaea) with a branch in Leipzig. A total volume of TWh has been traded in the first 9 months of 2012 on the EPEX SPOT power markets, of which 13.2 TWh on the Intraday markets. EPEX SPOT s members number 200. European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC) is the central clearing house for energy and related products in Europe. In its function as the central counterparty, ECC assumes clearing as well as physical and financial settlement of all transactions concluded on the EPEX SPOT markets, offering to market participants an integrated and automated clearing process, together with the benefits of a large partner network and maximum cross-margining effects. Currently, ECC provides clearing services for six European Exchanges. 3 PRESSEMITTEILUNG APG UND EPEX SPOT STARTEN ÖSTERREICHISCHEN INTRADAY- MARKT Wichtiger Meilenstein in der Umsetzung des gesamteuropäischen Intraday- Zielmodells erreicht Wien / Paris, 17. Oktober 2012 Der österreichische Übertragungsnetzbetreiber, Austrian Power Grid (APG), und die europäische Strombörse EPEX SPOT SE haben gemeinsam am 16. Oktober 2012 einen Intraday-Markt in Österreich gestartet und ihn mittels einer offenen Schnittstelle, die von APG bereitgestellt wird, mit den deutsch-französischen Intraday- Märkten verbunden. Physische und finanzielle Erfüllung der neuen österreichischen Intraday- Kontrakte werden von der European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC), Europas zentralem Clearinghaus für Energie, bereitgestellt. Der Start des österreichischen Intraday-Markts in der Lieferzone von APG stellt einen wichtigen Meilenstein für die Umsetzung des gesamteuropäischen Intraday- Zielmodells dar. Dieses schreibt entsprechend der Rahmenleitlinien zu Kapazitätszuweisung und Engpassmanagement eine europaweite Harmonisierung mit kontinuierlichem implizitem Intraday-Handel vor. Der österreichische Intraday-Markt ist künftig mit den deutschen und französischen Intraday-Märkten der EPEX SPOT verbunden: Marktteilnehmer in allen drei Ländern werden von der konzentrierten Liquidität und den stärker vereinheitlichten Handelsbedingungen profitieren. Der derzeitige Mechanismus für die Nominierung grenzüberschreitender Fahrpläne an der deutsch-österreichischen Grenze ist nicht betroffen und bleibt für alle Marktteilnehmer bestehen. EPEX SPOT und APG führen den Integrationsprozess des österreichischen Intraday- Markts fort. Die Handelsschlusszeiten für grenzüberschreitenden Intraday-Handel zwischen Deutschland, Frankreich und Österreich werden weiter verbessert: APG und EPEX SPOT arbeiten mit anderen beteiligten Parteien daran, die lokalen und die grenzüberschreitenden Handelsschlusszeiten an der Strombörse so weit wie möglich zu synchronisieren, um grenzüberschreitenden Handel näher am Lieferzeitpunkt zu ermöglichen. Diese

4 Weiterentwicklungen sollen 2013 umgesetzt werden, sofern die Tests der Systeme reibungslos verlaufen und die Zustimmung der Regulierungsbehörden vorliegt. Das gesamteuropäische Intraday-Zielmodell soll letztendlich aus einem sogenannten Gemeinsamen Orderbuch und einem Modul zum Engpassmanagement bestehen. EPEX SPOT und APG haben nun die nötige Infrastruktur aufgebaut, um eine reibungslose Integration des österreichischen Marktes in das Zielmodell zu gewährleisten. * * * Die Austrian Power Grid AG (APG) ist der unabhängige Übertragungsnetzbetreiber Österreichs und für das heimische Übertragungsnetz auf der Hochspannungsebene verantwortlich. 6 COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE APG ET EPEX SPOT LANCENT LE MARCHÉ INFRAJOURNALIER EN AUTRICHE Un étape importante franchie dans la mise en œuvre du modèle cible Infrajournalier paneuropéen Vienne / Paris, 17 octobre 2012 Le Gestionnaire de réseaux de transport autrichien, Austrian Power Grid AG (APG), et la Bourse Européenne de l Electricité EPEX SPOT SE ont lancé conjointement un marché infrajournalier en Autriche le 16 octobre 2012 et l ont connecté aux marchés infrajournaliers franco-allemands grâce à une interface ouverte fournie par APG. Le règlement physique et financier des transactions des nouveaux contrats Intraday autrichiens est assuré par la chambre de compensation centrale européenne pour l énergie, European Commodity Clearing AG (ECC). Le lancement du marché infrajournalier autrichien dans la zone d APG est une étape essentielle de la mise en œuvre du modèle cible paneuropéen pour la négociation infrajournalière continue implicite, tel que décrit dans les orientations-cadres de l ACER sur l allocation de capacité et la gestion de la congestion. Le marché infrajournalier autrichien est désormais connecté aux marchés infrajournaliers allemand et français d EPEX SPOT : Les membres de marché des trois pays bénéficieront d une liquidité consolidée et de règles commerciales et opérationnelles plus harmonisées. Le mécanisme germano-autrichien de nomination transfrontalière n en est pas affecté et reste disponible pour tous les acteurs du marché. Les horaires de fermeture de la négociation infrajournalière transfrontalière entre l Allemagne, l Autriche et la France se verront encore améliorés à lors d une prochaine étape d intégration du marché autrichien. APG et EPEX SPOT travaillent à la synchronisation de l heure de clôture de la négociation transfrontalière avec les heures de clôture locales sur la Bourse de l électricité avec les autres parties concernées, afin de permettre une négociation transfrontalière toujours plus proche du temps réel. Ces

7 améliorations sont prévues en 2013 sous réserve de la réussite des tests systèmes et de l obtention des autorisations réglementaires. EPEX SPOT et APG ont actuellement mis en place l infrastructure nécessaire pour assurer l intégration du marché autrichien dans la solution cible infrajournalière paneuropéenne, qui consiste en un carnet d ordres partagé et un module centralisé de gestion des capacités. * * * Austrian Power Grid AG (APG) est le gestionnaire de réseaux de transport indépendant en Autriche et est responsable du réseau haute-tension national.
