4 Zu Beginn Systemanforderungen Für die Szenerie benötigen Sie XPlane 11 oder X-Plane Mit älteren XPlane-Versionen arbeitet unsere Szenerie nicht korrekt. Um die Szenerie möglichst störungsfrei anfliegen zu können, benötigen Sie: Mindestanforderungen für XPlane 11: Betriebssystem: Microsoft Windows 7 / 8 / 10 (64bit), Linux oder macos Prozessor: Dual-Core-CPU mit 3 GHz Arbeitsspeicher: 8 GB RAM Grafikkarte: 512 MB mit DirectX 11 Empfohlene Ausstattung für XPlane 11: Prozessor: Dual-Core-CPU mit 3,5 GHz oder besser Arbeitsspeicher: GB RAM oder höher Grafikkarte: 4 GB oder höher mit DirectX 12 Mindestanforderungen für XPlane 10.50: Betriebssystem: Microsoft Windows 7 / 8 / 10, Linux oder macos Prozessor: Multi-Core-CPU mit 3 GHz Arbeitsspeicher: 8 GB RAM Grafikkarte: 2 GB Für den animierten Marshaller wird zusätzlich das Plugin AutoGate von Marginal benötigt. Installation Nach dem Kauf des Produktes erhalten Sie einen Link zum Download des Archivs mit den Szenerie-Dateien. Sie können diesen Link auch über Ihren Shop-Account aufrufen. Entpacken Sie die Szenerie-Dateien in Ihr XPlane-Hauptverzeichnis. Sie müssen sie nicht in den Ordner Custom Scenery kopieren, da dieser Ordner im Archiv bereits enthalten ist. Nach dem Entpacken sind zwei neue Scenery-Pack-Ordner unter Custom Scenery zu finden: Aerosoft ENVY Vaeroy und zzz_aerosoft ENVY Vaeroy Mesh. Scenery_packs.ini Die Scenery_packs.ini Datei, welche sich im Custom Scenery -Ordner befindet, wird von XPlane genutzt, um die Reihenfolge festzulegen, in welcher Ihre Erweiterungen geladen werden. Damit diese Szenerie richtig funktioniert, muss sie in dieser Datei über allen anderen Erweiterungen stehen, welche Sie für diese Region installiert haben. Deutsch 6 7

5 Der Flughafen Værøy Geschichte Die Insel Værøy liegt an der Südspitze des Lofoten-Archipels in Nordnorwegen. Sein Name leitet sich vom altnordischen veðrøy ab, der erste Teil des Namens veðr bedeutet Wetter und øy Insel. Die Siedlungen auf der Insel lassen sich bis in die Bronzezeit zurückverfolgen, mit 3000 Jahre alten Höhlenmalereien, die 1997 entdeckt wurden. Gegenwärtig hat die Insel nur 748 Einwohner, die meisten von ihnen leben auf der Südseite der Insel namens Sørland (Südliches Land). Dieses Gebiet umgibt den Haupthafen und ist auch der Ort, an dem sich der Hubschrauberlandeplatz befindet. Der erste Flugdienst nach Værøy wurde 1965 mit der DHC-3 Otter Widerøe durchgeführt, die zwei- bis dreimal wöchentlich von und nach Værøy startete. Später wurde dies mit Hubschrauberrouten zwischen Bodø und Værøy erweitert. Diese Hubschrauber wurden auch für Such- und Rettungseinsätze in der Region eingesetzt. Bereits in den 1960er Jahren wurde über den Bau eines Flughafens auf der Insel diskutiert. Der Fokus lag auf dem rauen und unvorhersehbaren Wetter und wie sich dies auf die Planmäßigkeit auswirken würde. Drei Gebiete, Kvalnes, Røssnesvågen und Nordland wurden als geeignet für den Bau eines Flughafens angesehen. Von diesen war Nordland die billigste Variante. Bei Umfragen des norwegischen Meteorologischen Instituts kam man zu dem Schluss, dass Nordland auch das günstigste Wetter hatte genehmigte der Bürgermeister Nordland als Standort des neuen Flughafens, obwohl Testflüge gezeigt hatten, dass das Wetter nicht so günstig war, wie zunächst angenommen. Viele befürchteten, dass der Flughafen nicht in der Lage sein würde, die gleiche Regelmäßigkeit wie der Hubschrauberdienst aufrechtzuerhalten, und viele Kommunalpolitiker wolten lieber den Flughafen schließen und die Hubschrauber behalten. Der Bau des Flughafens begann 1985, dies war Teil einer großen Investition der norwegischen Regierung, um kleine und abgelegene Orte mit dem Flugzeug zu verbinden. Unter den anderen Flughäfen, die gebaut wurden, befand sich auch Røst, die Nachbarinsel von Værøys im Süden. Der Flughafen Værøy und der Flughafen Røst wurden 1986 eröffnet, beide sehen fast identisch aus. Værøy hatte eine 800 Meter lange Start- und Landebahn, die nördlich des Berges Teisthammeren lag,die den Flugverkehr zum und vom Flughafen durch starke Turbulenzen und Abwärtsbewegungen erschwerten. Aus diesem Grund hatte der Flughafen eine der niedrigsten Regelmäßigkeiten in Norwegen, bei den höchsten 50 % der Flüge wurden gestrichen. Um die Probleme in den Griff zu bekommen, wurde der Localizer weiter vom Flughafen entfernt und Widerøe beschränkte seine Flugbesatzungen mit selbst auferlegten Einschränkungen, denen sie folgen mussten. Die Piloten durften nicht landen oder starten, wenn der Wind aus südlicher Richtung mit Geschwindigkeiten von über 20 Knoten kam. Im Jahr 1989 kam es zu einem Zwischenfall mit einem der beiden Flugzeuge von Widerøes Twin Otter, der den Flugbetrieb der Fluggesellschaften weiter einschränkte. Das Flugzeug verlor bei heftigen Turbulenzen die Kontrolle und erlangte erst in weniger als 300 Fuß Höhe über dem Wasser wieder die Kontrolle. Am 12. April 1990 landete Widerøes Flug 839 nach dem Flug von Bodø-Røst-Værøy auf Værøy. Während der Annäherung meldete der Turm von Værøy die Winde von 270 und 23 kts, obwohl die Piloten nach der Landung den Wind kommentierten, da er von überall her wehte. Da die Winde nicht innerhalb des südlichen Sektors lagen, galt die Sonderbeschränkung für den Flughafen nicht. Nach einem schnellen Umschlag war das Flugzeug bereit für die Rückreise nach Bodø. Als das Flugzeug auf die Start- und Landebahn rollte, wurden Windgeschwindigkeiten von 57 Knoten gemeldet, die die Flugzeuggrenze für den Bodenbetrieb überschritten (50 Knoten). Deutsch 8 9

6 Unmittelbar nach dem Start verschob sich der Wind wieder, Augenzeugen berichteten, dass das Flugzeug schnell stieg und dann fiel, gefolgt von einem weiteren schnellen Aufstieg, bevor es in den Wolken verschwand. Während des Steigfluges hat der CVR ein lautes Klappern im Cockpit und das Geräusch von nicht synchronisierten Propellern aufgenommen. Weniger als eine Minute nach dem Start gab der Co-Pilot an, dass der Flug in Schwierigkeiten war. Sekunden später erhielt der Værøy-Turm ein Notsignal, gefolgt von einem lauten Knall. Der Unfallbericht ergab später, dass die Winde die strukturellen Begrenzungen des Flugzeugs überschritten haben, was zu einem Riss im Seitenruder führte und das Flugzeug unkontrollierbar machte. Der Flughafen Værøy wurde nach dem Unfall geschlossen und nie wieder für den gewerblichen Verkehr geöffnet. 7 Landung/Abflug Eine Landung/Abflug darf nicht geplant oder durchgeführt werden, wenn Windrichtungen und Windstärken auf Bodenhöhe (TWR) angegeben werden als: VARIABLE WITH STRENGTH OVER 15KTS (including gust ) PIC-Anforderungen PIC erhält einen speziellen Flugcheck von standardisierenden Instruktoren, es sei denn, PIC ist innerhalb der letzten 12 Kalendermonate als PIC am Flughafen geflogen. 8 Technische Hinweise Polarlichter (Aurora Borealis) Der Norden Norwegens ist bekannt für seine beeindruckenden Nordlichter im Winter und trotz des kalten Klimas reisen viele Touristen dorthin, um dieses Naturschauspiel zu bestaunen. Auch in dieser Szenerie wurde der Aurora-Borealis-Effekt umgesetzt. Um die Nordlichter zu sehen, schauen Sie nachts bei klarem Wetter in den Himmel in nördlicher Richtung. Der Effekt wird durch den Einstrahlwinkel der Sonne unter dem Horizont ausgelöst, weshalb er nur zu sehen ist, wenn der Himmel dunkel genug ist. Bei eingeschränkter Sichtweite ist der Effekt ebenfalls oftmals nicht sichtbar. Stellen Sie daher die Sichtweite im Wettermenü auf mindestens 20 Meilen. Wenn Sie die Polarlichter abschalten möchten, können Sie dies mit dem mitgelieferten Aurora Tool tun. Kompatibilität mit Höhendaten von Drittanbietern Diese Szenerie verändert die Höhendaten des umliegenden Terrains und beinhaltet Höhendaten, welche mit den Standard-Höhendaten und Andras Fabian s HD-Mesh Scenery V3 kompatibel sind. Um zwischen den beiden Varianten zu wählen, nutzen Sie bitte das in dieser Szenerie mitgelieferte Mesh Tool. Nachteffekte Diese Szenerie nutzt XPlanes HDR-Beleuchtung für die Echtzeitbeleuchtung während der Nacht. Aus diesem Grund ist es empfehlenswert, die HDR-Beleuchtung in den Grafikoptionen zu aktivieren. HDR-Einstellungen in XPlane 11 Deutsch Saisonale Texturen Obwohl sowohl X-Plane 10 als auch XPlane 11 keine saisonalen Variationen der Bodentexturen beinhalten, werden oftmals Drittanbieter-Plugins genutzt, um den Simulator um dieses Feature zu erweitern. Diese Szenerie beinhaltet Wintertexturen, die mit solchen Plugins genutzt werden können. Marshaller Ein Marshaller steht an der Parkposition, um Ihnen den richtigen Haltepunkt anzuzeigen. Um dieses Feature zu nutzen, wird das AutoGate Plugin benötigt. Einstellungen Die einzige Einstellung, welche für die vollständige Darstellung der Szenerie relevant ist, ist die bereits vorgestellte HDR-Beleuchtung. Die restlichen Einstellungen können Sie anhand Ihrer eigenen Präferenzen anpassen

10 Starting Off System Requirements Our scenery requires XPlane 11 or X-Plane It will not work with previous versions of XPlane. Installation After purchasing the scenery you will receive a link to the archive containing the scenery files. You can also find that link in your order history. Unpack the scenery files into your X-Plane root folder. You don t need to copy it into the Custom Scenery folder as this folder is already included in the archive. After unzipping the file you will find two new scenery pack folders in your custom scenery folder: Aerosoft ENVY Vaeroy and zzz_aerosoft ENVY Vaeroy Mesh. Scenery_packs.ini The Scenery_packs.ini file located inside the Custom Scenery folder is used by X-Plane to establish the load order of the different add-on products you have installed. For this scenery to be shown correctly it has to be above any other scenery you have installed for the area. English 18 19

11 The History Værøy island is located on the southern tip of the Lofoten archipelago in Northern Norway. It s name is derivative from the old Norse name of veðrøy, the first part of the name veðr meaning weather and øy island. Settlements on the island can be traced back to the bronze ages, with 3000 year old cave paintings that were discovered in Currently the island has a population of only 748, most of them living on the southern side of the island named Sørland (Southern land). This area surrounds the main harbor and is also where the heliport is located. The first air service to Værøy was in 1965, using the DHC-3 Otter Widerøe started seaplane flights to and from the island two or three times a week. This was later expanded with helicopter routes between Bodø and Værøy in These helicopters were also used for search and rescue in the area. Discussions of building a hard surface airport on the island were happening as early as the 1960 s. The focus were on the harsh and unpredictable weather and how this would affect regularity. Three areas were considered as suitable for an airport to be built, Kvalnes, Røssnesvågen and Nordland. Out of these Nordland (Northern land) was the cheapest option. During surveys done by the Norwegian Meteorological institute they concluded that Nordland also had the most favorable weather. In 1984 the Mayor approved Nordland to be the location of the new airport, though test flights had shown that the weather was not as favorable as first thought. Many feared that the airport would not be able to keep the same regularity as the helicopter service, and many local politicians would rather scrap the airport and keep the helicopters. Construction of the airport began in 1985, this was part of a large investment by the Norwegian government to connect small and remote locations by air travel. Among the other airports being build was Røst, Værøys neighboring island to the south. Værøy and Røst airport opened in 1986 both of them looking close to identical. Værøy had one runway of 800 meters (2.626ft) laying just north of the mountain of Teisthammeren, making flights to and from the airport difficult due to heavy turbulence and downdrafts. Due to this the airport had one of the lowest regularity in Norway, at it s highest 50% of the flights were canceled. To try to address the problems the Localizer was moved further away from the airport and Widerøe restricted its flight crews even further with self imposed limitations they had to follow. The pilots were not allowed to land or take-off if the wind was from a southerly direction with speeds above 20kts. In 1989 an incident with one if the Widerøes Twin Otter aircraft further restricted the airlines operation to the airport. The aircraft lost control in heavy turbulence and did not regain control before less than 300 feet above the water. On the 12. April 1990 Widerøes flight 839 landed at Værøy after it s flight from Bodø-Røst-Værøy. During the approach the tower at Værøy reported the winds from 270 and 23kts, though after landing the pilots commented on the wind as it was blowing from everywhere. After a quick turnover the aircraft was ready to depart back to Bodø. As the winds were not inside the southern sector the special limitation for the airport did not apply. When the aircraft was taxiing to the runway winds were reported as 57 knots, exceeding the aircraft limit for ground operations (50 knots). Right after take-off the winds shifted again, eye witnesses reported the aircraft rapidly climbing then falling, followed by another rapid climb before it disappeared into the clouds English

12 During the climb-out the CVR picked up a loud rattling in the cockpit and the sound of un-syncronized propellers. Less than a minute into the flight the co-pilot indicated that the flight was in trouble. Seconds later Værøy tower received a distress-signal followed by a load bang. The accident report later revealed that the winds exceeded the structural limitations of the aircraft, causing a crack in the rudder leaving the aircraft uncontrollable. Værøy airport was closed after the accident and never opened again for commercial traffic. Approach No PIC shall plan/execute an approach if observations exceeds one or more of the following items: a) Mean winds Røst /20kts (through S) b) Winds aloft /30kts (through S) English

13 Landing/Departure A landing/departure shall not be planned or executed if wind directions and strength at ground level (TWR) is reported as: VARIABLE WITH STRENGTH OVER 15KTS (including gust ) PIC Requirements PIC shall be given a special flight check from standardizing Instructors, unless PIC has flown as PIC at the airport within the last 12 calendar months. General The above mentioned wind limitation is still up to critical assessment by the individual pilot. The pilot must at all times adapt to the conditions and make sure safety is never compromised. 14 Technical advice Aurora Borealis Northern Norway is well known for its impressive display of the Northern Lights during its winter season and despite the cold climate many tourists travel there in hopes of witnessing it in person. A custom Aurora Borealis effect is therefore included with the scenery. To see the lights look towards the northern part of the sky at night during clear weather. The effect itself is triggered by the sun angle below the horizon, that way it will only be visible when the sky is dark enough, regardless of the seasonal variation of dusk and dawn. There s also a reported visibility trigger to prevent the lights from showing during low visibility conditions, so if you re unable to see the northern lights increase the visibility in the weather menu to 20 statute miles or higher. If you wish to turn this effect off you can do so by using the Aurora Tool included with this scenery. (For the AutoGate plugin to work properly the aircraft needs to have a valid Boarding Door location in the ACF file. This can be added inside XPlane s Plane Maker.) Compatibility with 3 rd Party Terrain Mesh The scenery makes changes to the surrounding terrain mesh of the airport and includes mesh files compatible with the default XPlane mesh and Andras Fabian s fantastic HD-Mesh Scenery V3. To switch between the terrain mesh files please use the Mesh Tool included with this scenery. Night-time Effects The scenery uses XPlanes HDR lighting for real time lighting during night-time. It s therefore recommended to have HDR lighting enabled in the graphics settings for optimal visuals. HDR Settings in X-Plane 11 English Seasonal Textures Even though X-Plane 10 and XPlane 11 do not include seasonal variations in their current states many use third party plugins to add this feature to the simulator. The scenery therefore includes a set of winter textures to be used with this kind of plugin. Aircraft Marshaller An Aircraft Marshaller is located at the parking location to help guide you to the correct stopping point. To utilize this feature the AutoGate plugin is required. Settings The only settings that s required to see all the features of the scenery is the HDR lighting option discussed in the previous paragraph. All other graphics options can be set as you wish depending on your computer specifications and personal preferences
