4 Einführung Der Flughafen Svolvær, Helle (SVJ, ENSH) ist ein kleiner Regionalflughafen in der Region Lofoten im Norden Norwegens. Dank seiner malerischen Lage, umgeben von Fjorden und in die Höhe ragenden Bergen, ist dieser Flughafen ein wunderschönes Reiseziel, der jedoch gleichzeitig wegen seiner harten Winter Ihr Können als Pilot auf die Probe stellt. Svolvær ist eine Stadt in der nördlichen Gegend Norwegens, dem Land der Mitternachtssonne. Sie beherbergt eine Gemeinde von etwa Einwohnern und umfasst 2,33km² Stadtgebiet. Geschichte Historiker gehen davon aus, dass das Lofoten-Archipel seit etwa 200 v. Chr. bewohnt ist. Die erste bekannte Ansiedlung in Nordnorwegen, Vågar, lag in der Nähe der heutigen Stadt Svolvær. Während der Wikingerzeit lebten und durchwanderten Wikinger diese Ländereien und gründeten eine Stammesherrschaft bei Borg, die auch über die Svolvær-Region herrschte. Später unterstanden die Länder von Svolvær dem norwegischen König. Gegen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts erlebte Svolvær erste Tendenzen einer städtischen Entwicklung. Eine Telegrafenstation wurde 1861, die erste Schule 1874 erbaut wurde Svolvær zu einem Anlaufhafen für Hurtigruten, einem Passagier- und Frachtbeförderungsdienst, der die norwegische Küste entlangfuhr. Das bedeutete, dass der Großteil des Personen- und Güterverkehrs durch den Hafen von Svolvær befördert wurde, was die Bedeutung dieser Gemeinde für die Region erhöhte. Der Anstieg der Bevölkerung und Aktivität brachte Svolvær 1918 den Stadt-Status ein; zudem wurde der Ort zum Transport- und Kommunikationszentrum des Lofoten-Archipels. Die Nähe zum Meer und der natürliche Hafen waren die Grundlage für die Ansiedlung in Svolvær. Die großen Schwärme des arktischen Kabeljaus in den Fjorden und dem offenen Meer zogen jedes Jahr während der Laichzeit von Januar bis April Fischer aus ganz Norwegen an. Kabeljau gilt als Norwegens erstes Exportgut in großen Mengen, dessen wirtschaftliche Bedeutung erst durch die Entdeckung von Öl und Gas auf Norwegens Kontinentalschelf 1969 übertroffen wurde. Beschreibung des Flughafens Der Flughafen in Svolvær wurde 1972 erbaut. Er wird von Widerøe mit Flügen zu den nahen Flughäfen in Bodø, Stokmarknes, Leknes und saisonalen Routen nach Tromsø bedient. Der Flughafen liegt auf einer kleinen Halbinsel, was die Landebahn auf etwa 800 Meter einschränkt. Svolvær ist Teil der Milchmann-Route, betrieben von Widerøe, die Nordnorwegen durchkreuzt und somit eine wertvolle und schnelle Verbindung für die Bevölkerung bereitstellt, welche häufig in recht abgelegenen Regionen lebt. Da nur ein geringer bis gar kein Profit für Widerøe auf diesen Routen abfällt, werden sie eher als öffentliche Dienstleistung angesehen und von der norwegischen Regierung subventioniert. Daher auch der Spitzname Milchmann- Route. 5 Installation Nach dem Kauf des Produktes erhalten Sie einen Link zum Download des Archivs mit den Szenerie-Dateien. Sie können diesen Link auch über Ihren Shop-Account aufrufen. Entpacken Sie die Szenerie-Dateien in Ihr XPlane-Hauptverzeichnis. Sie müssen sie nicht in den Ordner Custom Scenery kopieren, da dieser Ordner im Archiv bereits enthalten ist. Nach dem Entpacken sind zwei neue Scenery-Pack-Ordner unter Custom Scenery zu finden: Aerosoft ENSH Svolvaer und Aerosoft ENSH Svolvaer Mesh. Scenery_packs.ini Die Scenery_packs.ini Datei, welche sich im Custom Scenery - Ordner befindet, wird von XPlane genutzt, um die Reihenfolge festzulegen, in welcher Ihre Erweiterungen geladen werden. Damit diese Szenerie richtig funktioniert, muss sie in dieser Datei über allen anderen Erweiterungen stehen, welche Sie für diese Region installiert haben. Auch in dieser Szenerie wurde der Aurora Borealis Effekt umgesetzt. Um die Nordlichter zu sehen, schauen Sie nachts in den Himmel nördlicher Richtung bei klarem Wetter. Der Effekt wird durch den Einstrahlwinkel der Sonne unter dem Horizont ausgelöst, weshalb er nur zu sehen ist, wenn der Himmel dunkel genug ist. Bei eingeschränkter Sichtweite ist der Effekt ebenfalls oftmals nicht sichtbar. Stellen Sie daher die Sichtweite im Wettermenü auf mindestens 20 Meilen. Wenn Sie Aurora Borealis abschalten möchten, können Sie dies mit dem mitgelieferten Aurora Tool tun. Saisonale Texturen Obwohl sowohl X-Plane 10 als auch XPlane 11 keine saisonalen Variationen der Bodentexturen beinhalten, werden oftmals Drittanbie ter-plugins genutzt, um den Simulator um dieses Feature zu erwei tern. Diese Szenerie beinhaltet Wintertexturen, die mit solchen Plugins genutzt werden können. 7 Nachteffekte Diese Szenerie nutzt XPlanes HDR-Beleuchtung für die Echtzeitbe leuchtung während der Nacht. Aus diesem Grund ist es empfehlens wert, die HDR-Beleuchtung in den Grafikoptionen zu aktivieren. HDR-Einstellungen in XPlane 11 Einstellungen Die einzige Einstellung, welche für die vollständige Darstellung der Szenerie relevant ist, ist die bereits vorgestellte HDR-Beleuchtung. Die restlichen Einstellungen können Sie anhand Ihrer eigenen Präferenzen anpassen. Marshaller Ein Marshaller steht an der Parkposition, um Ihnen den richtigen Haltepunkt anzuzeigen. Um dieses Feature zu nutzen, wird das AutoGate Plugin benötigt. Introduction Svolvær airport Helle (SVJ, ENSH) is a small regional airport located in the Lofoten area in northern Norway. Its scenic location, surrounded by both fjords and towering mountains, makes this airport a beautiful destination, but due to its harsh winter it will also challenge your skills as a pilot. Svolvær X features a highly detailed recreation of Svolvær airport and its surroundings. Svolvær is a town located in the northern region of Norway, the land of the midnight sun. It is populated by about 4500 inhabitants and covers 2.33 km2. History Historians presumes that the Lofoten archipelago has been inhabited since 200 BC. The first known town formation in Northern Norway, Vågar, was situated close to the modern-day town of Svolvær. Vikings lived and roamed the lands through the Viking age, establishing a chiefdom at Borg which also ruled over the Svolvær region. Later, the lands of Svolvær were owned by the Norwegian king. During the late 19th century, Svolvær experienced the first signs of urban development. A telegraph station was built in 1861, and the first school was built in In 1893 Svolvær became a port of call for Hurtigruten, a passenger and freight shipping service trafficking the Norwegian coast. This meant that the majority of traffic of people and goods came through the port in Svolvær, which increased the importance of the community in the region. Because of the increase in population and activity, Svolvær was given town status in 1918, and became the transport- and communication center of the Lofoten archipelago. The proximity to the sea and the natural harbor was the foundation for the settlement in Svolvær. The large habitats of arcto-norwegian cod in the fjords and open sea drew fishermen from all over Norway during the spawning period between January and April each year. English 12 13

8 Cod is seen as Norway s first large-volume export article, only overcome in economic influence by the discovery of oil and gas on the Norwegian continental shelf in Airport Description The airport in Svolvær was built in It is serviced by Widerøe with flights to nearby airports in Bodø, Stokmarknes, Leknes and seasonal routes to Tromsø. The airport is located on a small peninsula which limits the runway to roughly 800 meters. Svolvær is part of the milk-man route operated by Widerøe, crisscrossing northern Norway and providing a valuable and fast connection for the local population, often living in rather secluded areas. Due to the slim to none profits Widerøe have on these routes it s seen more as a public service and subsidized by the Norwegian government hence it s milk-man route nickname. You can also find that link in your order history. Unpack the scenery files into your X-Plane root folder. You don t need to copy it into the Custom Scenery folder as this folder is already included in the archive. After unzipping the file you will find two new scenery pack folders in your custom scenery folder: Aerosoft ENSH Svolvaer and Aerosoft ENSH Svolvaer Mesh. Scenery_packs.ini The Scenery_packs.ini file located inside the Custom Scenery folder is used by X-Plane to establish the load order of the different add-on products you have installed. For this scenery to be shown correctly it has to be above any other scenery you have installed for the area. A custom Aurora Borealis effect is therefor included with the scenery. To see the lights look towards the northern part of the sky at night during clear weather. The effect itself is triggered by the sun angle bellow the horizon, that way it will only be visible when the sky is dark enough, regardless of the seasonal variation of dusk and dawn. There s also a reported visibility trigger to prevent the lights from showing during low visibility conditions, so if you re unable to see the northern lights increase the visibility in the weather menu to 20 statute miles or higher. If you wish to turn this effect off you can do so by using the Aurora Tool included with this scenery. Seasonal Textures Even though X-Plane 10 and X-Plane 11 does not include seasonal variations in it s current state many use third party plugins to add this feature to the simulator. The scenery therefor includes a set of winter textures to be used with this kind of plugin. Compatibility with Third Party terrain Mesh. VDF MHz The scenery makes changes to the surrounding terrain mesh of the LOC RWY MHz (SV) airport and includes mesh files compatible with the default X-Plane mesh and Andras Fabian s fantastic HD-Mesh Scenery V3. DME RWY 01 Paired with LOC RWY 01 To switch between the terrain mesh files please use the Mesh Tool L (Helle) KHz (HL) included with this scenery. L (Skrova) KHz (KN) English

10 Night-time effects The scenery uses X-Planes HDR lighting for real time lighting during night-time, it s therefor recommended to have HDR lighting enabled in the graphics settings for optimal visuals. HDR settings in X-Plane 11 Settings The only settings that s required to see all the features of the scenery is the HDR lighting option discussed in the previous paragraph. All other graphics options can be set as you wish depending on your computer specifications and personal preferences. Aircraft Marshaller An Aircraft Marshaller is located at the parking location to help guide you to the correct stopping point. To utilize this feature the AutoGate plugin is required. (For the AutoGate plugin to work properly the aircraft needs to have a valid Boarding Door location in the ACF file. This can be added inside X-Plane s Plane Maker.) 18
