PhD project Introduction Definition of the project: Simulation and control of solar cooling systems in buildings Aims of the project: Optimize the operating conditions of the solar cooling plants by implementation of novel control strategies Develop a direct access to real building and energy plant data by using internet communication tools Have a better estimation of the cost of solar cooling systems Determine primary energy saving potential of solar cooling installations

16 II.2. PhD project Festo project Application project : Festo company (Esslingen) New buildings with low energy consumption: Passive energy concepts Geothermal energy for cooling in summer 1 MW of adsorption chillers cooling capacity

18 II.2. PhD project Festo project Geothermal cooling: Earth heat exchangers that supply a cooling capacity of 216 kw to the concrete floors and walls

19 II.2. PhD project Festo project Adsorption cooling: 3 adsorptions chillers ADR100 MYCOM (350 kw each) At the moment, powered by cogeneration heat and additional conventional heat. In the future a solar thermal plant will supplement the waste heat.
