3 Textilscreens The impact of your colour choice on the properties of your blinds With the choice of fabric you are not just choosing the colour but also the properties of your textile sun protection. To help you with your choice, it is a good idea to prioritise what aspects are the most important to you. The main factors to consider are: heat protection, visibility to the outside, glare protection and privacy at night. ROMA blinds are also a very effective UV filter. Light coloured fabrics reflect light and heat better than darker coloured fabrics - but light coloured fabrics don't have as good a visibility to the outside than darker coloured fabrics. Darker coloured fabrics absorb light better, reduce glare and have a better vision to the outside. Other factors to consider when talking about glare protection Fabric type and their hole sizes The degree of glare protection is largely controlled by the size and amount of holes in the fabric. The fewer and the smaller the holes, the less glaring light can enter the room. Glare can further be influenced by the choice of colour; using the same fabric classification, a lighter colour can pass on more light to a room compared to a darker colour. The darker colour supports glare protection and in addition, increases the visibility from the inside to the outside. Orientation of the fenestration & angle of entry of the sun A textile screen cannot direct sunlight towards the ceiling as venetian blinds can. The light enters the room depending on the angle of the sunlight hitting the small holes in the blind, which in itself is governed by the orientation of the house. East, north and west facing blinds are exposed to direct solar irradiation and hence there is a risk of glare. The risk of glare for south east, south and south west facing directions is minimal. 6

Soltis 86 and Soltis 92 (rigid fabric) Fabric made of high tenacity polyester threads using preconstraint technology. Polyester - Soltis 92 Offers the ideal compromise between heat protection, glare protection, privacy and visibility to the outside. The fabric may exhibit waviness along the rails when using zip.screen technology. It comes with a limited maximum height of the blind unit. Polyester - Soltis 86 Enables great visibility to the outside and heat protection, but little privacy during night time and low glare protection. 6 Textilscreens Overall How to choose the right fabric for your needs The properties explained on this page allow you to choose your fabric type and colour (listed on the following pages). Different fabric types and colours allow you to choose from varying degrees of heat protection, glare protection, visibility to the outside and privacy during night time. Heat protection, external installation 0 (bad) to 4 (very good) Measures how well the blind prevents the room from heating up. The classification follows DIN EN 1450 in combination with a representative thermal glazing U=1.2 W/ m 2 K; gv=59%; glazing C). The value that indicates how much total energy is allowed through is calculated following DIN EN part 1. Heat protection, internal installation 0 (bad) to 4 (very good) Measures how well the blind prevents the room from heating up. The classification follows DIN EN 1450 in combination with a representative thermal glazing U=1.2 W/ m 2 K; gv=59%; glazing C). The value that indicates how much total energy is allowed through is calculated following DIN EN part 1. All fabrics are maintenance free and easy to care for (see page 41). The blinds can be used to cover large windows and the vast choice of colours allows you to math your blind colours to your facade. All fabrics are weather proof, faderesistant and with high durability. Glare protection 0 (bad) to 4 (very good) Indicator for the ability to reduce glare. Light coloured fabrics scatter light more effectively into a room than dark coloured fabrics with the same classification. Subjective judgment is required to decide if a lighter surface with less visibility to the outside or a darker fabric with better visibility (but possibly more direct glare) is desired. The direction the fenestration unit faces has a significant impact. East, north and west facing directions are exposed to direct solar irradiation and here there is a risk of glare. The risk of glare for south east, south and south west facing directions are minimal. Privacy at night 0 (bad) to 4 (very good) Indicator for the degree of privacy at night when the blinds are down (how much the blinds prevent others to see from the outside) Visibility to the outside 0 (bad) to 4 (very good) Indicator for the degree of visibility from the inside to the outside when the blinds are down. Reflexion % (RS) Absorption % (AS) Absorption measures how much light energy can be absorbed by a surface. The higher the percentage of reflected light, the less light and thermal energy enters the room. A high percentage equals to a better sun and heat protection. Transmission % (TS) TS measures the transmissibility of fabric for electromagnetic waves (light etc.) The sum of transmission, absorption and reflexion equals to the total energy hitting the blinds fabric. UV Protection % The Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) is an indicator of how much UV light can filter through the fabric. It is measured in percentage as per EN The higher the UPF percentage, the better the UV protection of the blind. 10

Je kleiner der Wert, desto geringer ist der Energieeintrag in ein Zimmer. Der -Wert wird wie folgt berechnet: = x g Fensterglas -Wert Der -Wert gibt den Energieabminderungsfaktor beim Durchdringen eines Mediums bei Sonnenschutzanlagen und damit den Abminderungsfaktor der Beschattung an. g Fensterglas g Fensterglas ist der Energiedurchlassgrad des Fensterglases allein. Der Wert setzt sich zusammen aus dem Teil der Strahlung, der im Glas absorbiert wurde und zeitversetzt über Wärmestrahlen, Wärmeleitung und Konvektion nach innen gelangt. Auf den nachfolgenden Seiten finden Sie die technischen Werte der Gewebe. Die Tabellenangaben und basieren auf Verglasung C nach DIN EN (U = 1,2 W/m 2 K; g = 0,59). Andere Verglasungen sind entsprechend neu zu berechnen. 27 Einbau Gewebe Einbau in die Sonnenschutzanlage Ein Gewebe ist immer speziell auf eine Anlage und ihre Einbauart zugeschnitten. Es sollte in der Anlage nicht gedreht werden, weil dadurch optische oder funktionale Nachteile entstehen. Unser Gewebe wird so in die Sonnenschutzanlagen eingebaut, dass die Sonnenseite der Sonne zugewandt ist. Bei den zipscreens trägt es links und rechts die eine Hälfte eines Reißverschlusses mit sehr kleiner symmetrisch aufgebauter Spirale. Die rollscreens besitzen typenabhängig verschiedene Randverstärkungen, um ein Ausfransen zu verhindern. In der Breite können seitlich nicht geführte Gewebetypen in Einbaulage größere Abweichungen vom Theoriewert bzw. eine gewisse Taillierung, die auf halber Höhe am stärksten ist, aufweisen. 29 Care In order to guarantee longevity, we recommend you to clean the surfaces of textile screen and the guide rails regularly - at least once at year. Note: Remove dirt or foreign objects from the guide rails. Use suitable cleaning agent to clean the surfaces of the textile screen. The revision opening has to remain unobstructed at all times.
