9 Strahlung der Sonne Energie wird in der Sonne durch Fusion von Wasserstoff in Helium erzeugt (seit 1939): Jede Sekunde werden 564 Mio. Tonnen Wasserstoff fusioniert 560 Mio. t Helium! Dieser Energievorrat reicht für 11 Mrd. Jahre. Abstrahlung von der Oberfläche: 63 MegaWatt/m² Einstrahlung am Rande der Erdatmosphäre: 1361 Watt/m² (SORCE) = Solarkonstante auf der Erdoberfläche kommt weniger an!

24 Sonnenüberwachung Kanzelhöhe Das Observatorium Kanzelhöhe für Sonnen- und Umweltforschung ist eine spezielle Sternwarte zur täglichen Beobachtung der Sonnenaktivität. Es befindet sich im Süden Österreichs oberhalb der Kanzelhöhe, einem 1463 m ü. A. hohen Vorgipfel der Gerlitzen, etwa zehn Kilometer nordöstlich von Villach im Bundesland Kärnten. Das Observatorium Kanzelhöhe für Sonnen- und Umweltforschung der Universität Graz wurde während des Zweiten Weltkrieges (Baubeginn 1941, Fertigstellung 1943) als eines von vier Gebirgsobservatorien der deutschen Luftwaffe gegründet (neben Wendelstein in Oberbayern, Schauinsland im Hochschwarzwald und Zugspitze in Oberbayern). Vordergründige Aufgabe war die Beobachtung und Erforschung von Sonneneruptionen und ihrer Auswirkungen auf den Funkverkehr, um in weiterer Folge eine Funkberatung bereitstellen zu können.

31 Chromosphärische Fackeln (= helle Gebiete auf der Sonnenoberfläche), auch Plages, sind Gebiete in der Chromosphäre der Sonne, die man im Licht der CaII K- Linie als helle Bereiche auf der Sonnenoberfläche erkennen kann. Sonnenflecken erscheinen als dunkle, Fackeln als helle Gebiete, weil das sie umgebende Gas kälter bzw. heißer ist als die Photosphäre selbst.

39 GREGOR Teleskop auf Teneriffa GREGOR ist ein Sonnenteleskop auf dem Berg Izaña auf der Insel Teneriffa, das vom Observatorio del Teide in 2400 m Höhe betrieben wird. Das Teleskop ist eine neue Bauart des Gregory-Teleskoptyps mit drei Spiegeln und einer effektiven Brennweite von 55,6 m. Der Hauptspiegel (1,5 Meter Durchmesser) wurde von der SCHOTT AG aus dem Nullausdehnungs-Material Zerodur gegossen und wird im Teleskop zusätzlich aktiv gekühlt. Es wird hauptsächlich zur Untersuchung kleiner Strukturen auf der Sonne eingesetzt werden, wobei es durch seine adaptive Optik eine Auflösung von ca. 0,1 arcsec erreichen wird, so dass Objekte ab etwa 70 km Durchmesser auf der Sonne erkannt werden können. Die Erforschung dieser kleinen Strukturen ist wichtig, um die grundlegenden Prozesse der Wechselwirkung von Magnetfeldern mit den Plasma-Turbulenzen auf die Sonne zu verstehen.

Rev. in Solar Phys The sun spends about 70% of its time at moderate magnetic activity levels, about 15 20% of its time in a grand minimum and about 10 15% in a grand maximum. Modern solar activity corresponds to a grand maximum. Grand minima are a typical but rare phenomena in solar behavior. Their occurrence appears not periodically, but rather as the result of a chaotic process within clusters separated by years. Grand minima tend to be of two distinct types: short (Maunder-like) and longer (Spörer). The modern level of solar activity (after the 1940s) is very high, corresponding to a grand maximum. Grand maxima are also rare and irregularly occurring events, though the exact rate of their occurrence is still a subject of debates.

112 Attempts to measure the TSI began in earnest in the 1830 s, with independent measurements by Claude Pouillet and John Herschel, yet were nearly a factor of two low because of atmospheric absorption. Even balloon-borne measurements in the 1900 s lacked the instrumental accuracy to detect the ~0.1% changes in the TSI. It was not until longduration measurements from space were available that changes in TSI were accurately measured and the misconception of a solar constant changed. TSI monitoring using electrical substitution radiometers (ESRs) from the vantage point of space began with the launch of the Nimbus 7 satellite in November This was soon followed by an Active Cavity Radiometer Irradiance Monitor (ACRIM) instrument on the Solar Maximum Mission and by the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE). More recently, second and third ACRIM instruments have been launched, in addition to the launch of the VIRGO on the NASA/ESA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SoHO). The various data sets are in basic agreement and show conclusively that variations of TSI track the passage of sunspots across the solar disk with an amplitude of about 0.2%, and that long-term solar cycle variations are only on the order of 0.1%. The SORCE TSI data set continues these important observations with improved accuracy on the order of ±0.035%. [Quelle: SORCE]

The Solar Radiation and Climate Experiment (SORCE) is a NASAsponsored satellite mission that is providing state-of-the-art measurements of incoming x-ray, ultraviolet, visible, nearinfrared, and total solar radiation (TSI), launched on January 25, The measurements provided by SORCE specifically address long-term climate change, natural variability and enhanced climate prediction, and atmospheric ozone and UV-B radiation.

125 Zusammenfassung Sonneneinstrahlung (TSI) variiert dauernd durch Fleckenaktivität, seit 1978 durch Satellitendaten belegt: Flecken (Abdunklung) & Fackeln (hell). Nach neuesten Daten bringt der 11-Jahres- Zyklus eine Variation von 1 W/m². Rekonstruktion bis Maunder-Minimum nach heutiger Klimasensitivität eine Temperaturvariation von 0,1 C, gering im Vergleich zur Erwärmung von 0,8 C seit der Industrialisierung. Variabilität auf längeren Zeitskalen? 230-Jahres-Zyklus, 1000-Jahres-Zyklus?
