1. Technical description The rain-separator with installed drop-separator-profiles is an alternative to the traditional blowing or intake components. A significant advantage is the low pressure reduction. The rain-separator is available in two designs: Rain-separator design 1: Rain-separator design 2: For escaping air and supply air. For supply air in snowfall regions. Because of the low height of the rain-separator the design is a self-supporting construction and does not require fasting devices. The assembly occurs on the roof-support-flange to the roof-frame or directly to the roof. Installing on or between the air duct is possible by flange-connection. Design 1 Design 2 1.1 Mode of action / Efficiency The rain is captured by the inclined drop-separator-profiles to send it over the water-collection-box to the roof or in a pipe-system. The efficient of separation is 99,9% and the velocity must have minimum 4 m/s and maximum 9 m/s. 1.2 Pressure-drop Pressure-drop for escaping air Velocity: 4 m/s 5 m/s 6 m/s 7 m/s 8 m/s 9 m/s Pressure-drop: 20 Pa 35 Pa 50 Pa 70 Pa 90 Pa 110 Pa Pressure-drop for supply air Velocity: 4 m/s 5 m/s 6 m/s 7 m/s 8 m/s 9 m/s Pressure-drop: 40 Pa 68 Pa 100 Pa 150 Pa 190 Pa 230 Pa Page 2
1.3 Materials The rain-separator can be ordered in the following non-corrosive plastic-materials: Case: PE-HD, PPS, PVC-U plus electroconductive materials: PE-el, PPs-el Profile: PP-TV / PVC-U 2. Construction examples 2.1 Rain-separator design 1 (escaping and supply-air) In the following some ways of installation; all dimensions are variable. Special designs are possible. Design 1-A: Installation directly on a roof-frame. Design 1-B: Installation with flange on the air duct. Page 3
Design 1-C: Installation with flange on the air duct and support on a roof-frame. Design 1-D: Installation between the air duct with flange-connection. Rain is drained off by an exterior drainage pipe. Page 4
Design 1-E: Installation between the air duct is with flange-connection. Rain is drained off by an interior drainage pipe. Design 1-F: Installation with flange on the air duct and support on the roof. This model is not self-sealing! (After installation, a sealing-material such as roofing-paper needs to be placed up to the rain-lip). Page 5
2.2 Rain-separator design 2 (Supply air in snowfall regions) In the following some ways of installation; all dimensions are variable. Special designs are possible. Design 2-A: Installation directly on a roof-frame. Design 2-B: Installation with flange on the air duct. Page 6
Design 2-C: Installation with flange on the air duct and support on a roof-frame. The rain-separator design 2 can also be ordered in configuration D, E and F. Page 7
