2 Welcome to Nanotech Germany Nanotechnology has an increasing influence on the technological performance and international competitiveness of German industries. Almost all branches profit from nanotechnology innovations. Germany sees nanotechnology as a key technology to open the door to the future. It is an important basis for new products, processes and services in several sectors - including health, energy and environmental protection. Therefore, the German government has set a priority on shaping the future with nanotechnology. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research supports the use of nanotechnologies to secure a safe, sustainable and successful economic and social progress in Germany. Under the umbrella of the High-Tech Strategy, the German Federal Government s Action Plan Nanotechnology 2015 focuses on research and research funding in order to improve technological performance and enhance the international competitiveness of German science and industry. In 2015, Germany is showcasing its competence in nanotechnology in the context of the Welcome to Nanotech Germany initiative. The aim is to encourage the cooperation between German and international enterprises and research institutions. 3 Welcome to Nanotech Germany Nanotechnologie gewinnt zunehmend Einfluss auf die technologische Leistungsfähigkeit der deutschen Industrie und ihre Position im internationalen Wettbewerb. Nahezu alle Branchen profitieren von Innovationen aus der Nano-Welt. Für Deutschland ist Nanotechnologie eine der zukunftsprägenden Schlüsseltechnologien. Sie dient als wichtiger Grundpfeiler für neue Produkte, Verfahren und Dienstleistungen in unterschiedlichen Wirtschaftszweigen wie Gesundheit, Energie und Umweltschutz. Die deutsche Bundesregierung weist Nanotechnologie deshalb eine besondere Bedeutung bei der Gestaltung der Zukunft zu. Das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung fördert ihren Einsatz um sichere, nachhaltige sowie erfolgreiche wirtschaftliche und soziale Fortschritte in Deutschland zu ermöglichen. Unter dem Dach der Hightech-Strategie konzentriert sich der Aktionsplan Nanotechnologie 2015 der deutschen Bundesregierung auf Forschung und Forschungsförderung. Ziel ist es, die technologische Leistungsfähigkeit und damit auch die internationale Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der deutschen Wissenschaft und Industrie zu verbessern. Im Jahr 2015 stellt Deutschland im Rahmen der Kampagne Welcome to Nanotech Germany seine Kompetenz auf dem Gebiet der Nanotechnologie auf internationalen Messen vor. Ziel der Präsentation ist, die Zusammenarbeit zwischen deutschen und internationalen Unternehmen und Forschungseinrichtungen zu stärken. AHC provides functional coating of technical surfaces as a service. Components e.g. for the automotive industry, the mechanical engineering market or for the electrical and elec-tronic industry are protected against corrosion and wear or given special properties by using patented and in-house-developed processes. Well established processes are hard anodising (HART-COAT ) and Electroless Nickel plating (DURNI-COAT ). With the first process, a hard oxide layer is produced on aluminium alloys, whereas with the second process, a nickel-phosphorus alloy of specific composition is de-posited on metallic materials. Further coatings are suited for magnesium (MAGOXID-COAT ) or aluminium and titanium materials (KEPLA-COAT ), serve as dry lubricant anti-friction coatings (GLISS- COAT ) or are used in case of loads by friction and vibration corrosion (DURALLOY ). AHC Benelux with its two locations in Eindhoven and Venlo, The Netherlands, extend the range of services by a number of special anti-friction coatings as well as processes such as nickel sulfamate plating, tin plating, silver plating and gold plating. Another feature is the portfolio of hard-anodised AHC cylinder tubes made of aluminium, which are primarily used in pneumatic industry as well as in the low-pressure hydraulics. All CLOU production operations are located in the city of Offenbach am Main in Germany where more than tons of varnishes, dyes, stains, waxes and oils are manufactured and filled. The origin of the company dates back to Since 1998 the grandson of the company s founder, Alfred Clouth, runs the company as managing director. As one of the first companies in the chemical industry, Mr. Clouth introduced a certified eco-management system in 1997 at its facilities in Offenbach. In addition, Mr. Clouth expanded the range of products including products based on renewable raw materials. Upon request the functional films were produced by using the environmentally friendly coating technology Physical Vapor Deposition ( PVD ). Most product materials can be refined metal, glass, ceramic and even plastics or textiles. The coatings are to be produced either in a vacuum chamber or can be applied with a laser directly on the product surface at Ara-Coatings or on site at the customer. This laser coating technology ARA-LT is our newest innovation and allows the application of PVD films on product surfaces very fast and cost efficient just by using a standard laser system. Three variants of ARA-LT existing: metallic coatings, functional coatings and forgery proof markings. The product surface itself is not affected by the laser beam. Zur Herstellung der dünnen Schichten wird das umweltfreundliche Beschichtungsverfahren Physical Vapor Desposition ( PVD ) verwendet, mit dem sich die gewünschten optischen Eigenschaften einer Beschichtung hervorragend mit den notwendigen, funktionellen Aspekten kombinieren lassen in einer einzigen Schicht. Eine Veredelung von nahezu allen Produktmaterialien ist möglich neben Metall, Glas, Keramik sogar Kunststoff und Textilien. Die Beschichtungen von Produkten können entweder in einer Vakuumkammer erfolgen oder sie werden mit einem Laser auf die Produktoberfläche aufgebracht bei Ara-Coatings oder direkt bei Ihnen. Diese Laserbeschichtungstechnologie ARA-LT ist unsere neueste Innovation, mit der PVD- Schichten sehr schnell und kostengünstig auf Produktoberflächen appliziert werden können. Es gibt drei verfügbare Varianten: Metallische Beschichtungen, funktionelle Markierungen oder fälschungssichere Kennzeichnungen.
