4 Cardiac Surgery in the 21 st Century The field of Cardiac Surgery is changing drastically Interventional approaches are progressing rapidly (TAVI, MitraClip, etc.) The number of teaching cases decreases (CABG vs. double valve endocarditis) Changing demographics / Woman in surgery Generation Y and the work-life-balance
