(2) Always de-energize primary and secondary circuits if a circuit breaker cannot be removed to a safe work location. (3) Drawout circuit breakers should be levered (racked) out to the Disconnect position. (4) All circuit breakers should be switched to the off position and mechanism springs discharged. Failure to follow these steps for all procedures described in this instruction leaflet could result in death, bodily injury, or property damage. Warning The instructions contained in this IL and on product labels have to be followed. Observe the Five Safety Rules: Disconnecting Ensure that devices cannot be accidentally restarted Verify isolation from the supply Earthing and short-circuiting Covering or providing barriers to adjacent live parts Disconnect the equipment from the supply. Use only authorized spare parts in the repair of the equipment. The specified maintenance intervals as well as the instructions for repair and exchange must be strictly adhered to prevent injury to personnel and damage to the switchboard.

2 effective January 2011 Instructions for Series NR Neutral Current Sensor Type NF Section 1: Neutral Current Sensor Installation Ground Fault Trip Units detect ground fault currents through Residual Sensing. A different, round, torroidal sensor is required for source ground or zero sequence sensing. All further information is for residual ground fault sensing method only. If the system neutral is grounded and residual ground fault is desired, but no phase to neutral loads are used, a neutral current sensor is not necessary. In that case, no additional connections are required to circuit breaker secondary contacts. If the system neutral is grounded and phase to neutral loads are used, then the neutral current sensor (see Figure 2 and 3) must be used to account for this load in the residual ground fault sensing. It has the same turns ratio as the phase current sensors in the Series NR circuit breaker. The neutral sensor is an air core design and can be used with all Type NF rating plugs (Figure 1). IMPOrtant The polarity of the sensor connections is critical. Always observe the polarity markings on the installation drawings. The polarity markings are identified as white dots on the transformers. To insure correct ground fault equipment performance, conduct field tests to comply with National Electric Code requirements under Article C. See Performance Testing instructions on following pages. Section 2: Performance Testing For Ground Fault Circuit Breakers Code Requirements In the United States of America and certain other countries it is required that any ground fault protection system be performance tested when first installed (National Electric Code under Article C). Conduct tests in accordance with the approved instructions provided with the equipment. Make a written record of this test and make the results available to the authority having inspection jurisdiction. Standards Requirements In addition to the basic performance requirements stated above, UL Standard No requires that certain minimum instructions accompany each ground fault protection system. General Test Instructions The interconnect system shall be evaluated in accordance with the equipment assembler s detailed instruction by qualified personnel. The polarity of the neutral sensor connection (if used) must agree with equipment assembler s detailed instructions to avoid improper operations following apparently correct simulated test operations. 3 Instructions for Series NR Neutral Current Sensor Type NF IL E effective January 2011 The grounding points of the system shall be verified to determine that ground paths do not exist that would bypass the sensors. High-voltage testers and resistance bridges may be used. N L C R Using a low voltage (0-24v) high current AC source, apply a test current of 125% of the ground fault pick-up setting through one phase of the circuit breaker as displayed in Figures 4 and 7. This should cause the breaker to trip in less than 1 second, and if an alarm indicator is supplied, it should operate. Reset the breaker and the alarm indicator. Repeat the test on the other two phases. If the system is a 4-wire system with a neutral current sensor, apply the same current as described above through one phase of the breaker, returning through the neutral sensor, as displayed in Figures 5 and 8. The breaker should not trip and the alarm indicator, if supplied, should not operate. Repeat the test on the other two phases. Neutral Sensor If the system is a 3-wire system with no neutral current sensor, apply the same current as described above through any two phases of the breaker with the connections as displayed in Figures 6 and 9. The breaker should not trip and the alarm indicator, if supplied, should not operate. Repeat the test using the other two combinations of breaker phases. Record the test results on the test form provided with the equipment. Figure 2. 8 gültig ab Januar 2011 Montageanweisung für Series NR Neutralwandler - Baugröße NF Abschnitt 1: Installation des Neutralwandlers Die Fehlerstrommessung ist die Standardmethode für Erdschlussmessungen in NR-Leistungsschaltern. Für die Fehlerstromquellenmessung oder die Nullmessung wird ein anderer Wandler-Typ benötigt. Die folgenden Informationen betreffen nur die Fehlerstrommessung. Wenn das Neutralsystem geerdet ist und als Messmethode die Fehlerstrommessung verwendet wird, aber keine Phase zu Neutrallasten verwendet wird, dann ist der Einsatz eines Neutralwandlers nicht erforderlich. In diesem Falle sind auch keine weiteren Verbindungen zu den Steuerleitungsanschlüssen nötig. Wenn das Neutralsystem geerdet ist und eine Phase zu Neutrallasten verwendet wird, dann ist der Einsatz des Neutralwandlers (siehe Abbildung 2 und 3) erforderlich. Dieser hat das gleiche Verhältnis wie die Stromwandler. Der Neutralwandler hat einen Luftkern und kann mit allen für die Baugröße NF kompatiblen Bemessungsstrommodulen verwendet werden (siehe Abbildung 1). Abschnitt 2: Funktionsprüfung für Leistungsschalter mit Erdschlussschutz Prüfanforderungen für Nordamerika und andere Länder In Nordamerika und bestimmten anderen Ländern ist es vorgeschrieben, dass jedes Erdschlussgerät vor der ersten Inbetriebnahme einer Funktionsprüfung unterzogen wird (siehe National Electric Code Artikel C). Führen Sie die Prüfung gemäß der genehmigten und mit der Ausrüstung gelieferten Anleitung durch und fertigen Sie einen schriftlichen Bericht über die Durchführung des Tests an. Normen Als Zusatz zu den grundlegenden von der NEC vorgeschriebenen Leistungsanforderungen wird durch UL -Norm 1053 gefordert, dass jedem Erdschlussschutzsystem eine Anleitung mit einem bestimmten Mindestumfang beigelegt werden muss. ACHTUNG Fehlerhaftes AnschlieSSen der Stromwandler kann zu Fehlauslösungen führen. Beachten Sie immer die Polmarkierungen der Montagepläne. DIe Polmarkierungen sind als weisse Punkte auf den Wandlern markiert. 9 Montageanweisung für Series NR Neutralwandler - Baugröße NF Instruction Leaflet IL E gültig ab Januar 2011 Allgemeine Prüfhinweise Das vernetzte System muss von qualifizierten Fachleuten gemäß den detaillierten Anweisungen des Geräteherstellers beurteilt werden. Um einen nicht ordnungsgemäßen Betrieb nach offensichtlich korrekt simulierten Prüfoperationen zu vermeiden, muss die Polarität der Neutralwandlerkontakte (falls verwendet) mit den detaillierten Anweisungen des Geräteherstellers übereinstimmen. Wenden Sie sich bei Fragen an den zuständigen Ingenieur und/oder den Gerätehersteller. Prüfen Sie die Erdungspunkte des Systems mithilfe von Hochspannungsprüfern und Widerstandsbrücken, um sicherzustellen, dass keine an den Wandlern vorbeiführenden Erdleitungen existieren. N L C R Verwenden Sie eine Niederspannungs- (0 bis 24 V), Hochstrom-AC- Quelle, um einen Prüfstrom von 125 Prozent des Ansprechwertes des Erdschlussauslösers an eine Phase des Leistungsschalters anzulegen (siehe Abbildung 4 und 7). Dies sollte zu einer Auslösung des Schalters innerhalb einer Sekunde führen und die Alarmanzeige (falls vorhanden) aktivieren. Setzen Sie Schalter und Alarmanzeige in den Ausgangszustand zurück. Wiederholen Sie diese Prüfung für die anderen beiden Phasen. Um ein 4-Poliges System mit einem Neutralwandler zu prüfen, legen Sie denselben Strom (s.o.) an eine Phase des Schalters mit Rückführung durch den Neutralwandler an (siehe Abbildung 5 und 8). Der Schalter sollte nicht ausgelöst werden und die Alarmanzeige (falls vorhanden) sollte nicht in Betrieb sein. Um ein 3-Poliges System ohne Neutralwandler zu prüfen, legen Sie denselben Strom (s.o.) an zwei beliebige Phasen des Schalters an (siehe Abbildung 6 und 9). Der Schalter sollte nicht ausgelöst werden und die Alarmanzeige (falls vorhanden) sollte nicht in Betrieb sein. Wiederholen Sie diese Prüfung für die anderen beiden möglichen Phasenkombinationen Halten Sie die Prüfergebnisse auf den Prüfformular fest. Stellen Sie nach der Funktionsrpüfung alle EInstellungen des Leistungsschalters in ihren Ausgangszustand zurück und entfernen Sie alle für die Prüfung vorgenommenen Verbindungen zu den Prüfgeräten bevor der Schalter wieder in Betrieb genommen wird.
