3 English Manual Overview The LINDY CPU Switch LITE allows control of up to 4 PCs from one keyboard, monitor and mouse. The keyboard and mouse connectors on the PC both have to be PS/2 style. With this unit you can save the cost of additional keyboards, monitors and mice. At the same time you will save space and you will eliminate the problems of using the wrong keyboard or mouse and all the trouble connected with this. This unit is a pure hardware solution and therefore it is not dependant on the operating system. This unit requires no software installation. You only have to connect the cables and switch on the devices. The CPU Switch LITE supports two ways of switching between the connected computers: via keyboard hotkeys and by pressing the switch on this device. The CPU Switch LITE emulates the keyboard, monitor and mouse connections for all connected PCs permanently. This prevents error messages when switching between connected PCs. 4 English Manual INSTALLATION Before you start please switch off all devices to be attached. Apart from the PCs to be connected you only need one keyboard, monitor and PS/2 mouse and the standard connection cables (male to male) to connect the keyboard, monitor and mouse ports of your PCs to the LINDY CPU Switch LITE. If some cables are not long enough we recommend that the complete cable is replaced with a longer length rather than using extension cables. Extension cables introduce additional plug to socket connections, which always lowers the signal quality. When using high resolution or long distances this should be noted. Connect the keyboard, monitor and mouse directly to sockets of the LINDY CPU Switch LITE named CONSOLE. If your keyboard has a 5 pin DIN connector you can use a PS/2 adaptor (LINDY Art.No ). Serial Mice with 9 Way D connectors are not supported and cannot be used, even with an adapter. Connect the PCs keyboard, monitor and mouse ports directly to the appropriate sockets on the LINDY CPU Switch LITE named CPU A, B, C or D. The mouse port on your PC has to be PS/2 type (6 pin Mini DIN socket). When you have made all connections switch on the monitor first and then the PCs.
5 English Manual OPERATION Your monitor will only display one PC signal at any one time. All keyboard and mouse commands are sent to this PC. After initial power up, port A is active by default. When a PC is connected to this port and it is not switched on or is in sleep mode, the monitor will not show any signal. Please note that this is not the sign of a faulty CPU Switch! Operation via hotkey varies for the 2- and 4-port version. Version 1:4 (Art. No ): To switch between the connected computers either press the appropriate switch on the CPU Switch LITE or use a hotkey from your keyboard. The following hotkeys are available: (Note: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT keys have to be pressed simultaneously, then released before the additional keys are pressed one after the other.) Direct port selection: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT followed by 1 or 2 (or 3 or 4 for the 1:4 version) and ENTER. The LINDY CPU Switch LITE will then switch to the selected port. Auto-Scan Mode: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT followed by 0 and ENTER. The LINDY CPU Switch LITE switches into the scan mode and scans through each CPU signal in sequence. Pressing the SPACE will terminate this mode. All other keyboard and mouse inputs will be ignored. Last/Next mode: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT followed by 9 and ENTER. The LINDY CPU Switch LITE switches into the Last/Next mode. By pressing the left SHIFT key, the LINDY CPU Switch LITE switches to the previous port. Pressing right SHIFT key switches to the next port. Pressing the SPACE will terminate this mode. All other keyboard and mouse inputs will be ignored. Version 1:2 (Art. No ): Direct port selection: Instead of ALT + CTRL + SHIFT press CTRL twice. This allows the switch to alternate the active channel.
6 English Manual Auto-Scan-Mode: You may select this mode by pressing and releasing in succession the LEFT SHIFT and RIGHT SHIFT key.when in Auto-Scan-Mode, press LEFT SHIFT for PC 1 and RIGHT SHIFT for PC 2. To exit from the Auto-Scan-Mode press the SPACEBAR. After initial power up port A is active by default. When the PC is connected to this port and it is not switched on or is in sleep mode the monitor will not show any signal. Please note that this is not a sign of a faulty CPU Switch! Please also note that the LINDY CPU Switch LITE will not respond to keyboard and mouse commands in Auto-Scan or Last/Next mode. Pressing the spacebar can only terminate this mode. All other keyboard and mouse inputs will be ignored. If this does not solve your problems please follow the steps on the following two pages.

Please note especially at higher resolutions or longer cable lengths you have to use high quality SVGA cables instead of standard VGA cables. SVGA cables can easily be identified by the larger diameter of the cable. Please also avoid using extension cables and use long connection cables. Every
8 English Manual plug/socket connection lowers the signal quality. Symptom The mouse is not recognised by Windows or does not work Probable reason You can ONLY use a mouse with a PS/2 connector and ONLY PS/2 style mouse ports on the computer are supported. Serial to PS/2 mouse adaptors are NOT supported. Action to take You have to use a PS/2 style mouse and a PS/2 mouse port on your computer. Incorrect installation of cables Incorrect or missing mouse drivers Please check if all cables are properly connected. When using a PS/2 mouse or pointing device you must ensure that the proper device driver has been loaded into your operating system. Please check your computer and make sure that the driver is installed correctly. Note: the LINDY CPU Switch LITE supports many special pointing devices such as wheel mice etc. These devices usually use their own specific drivers individual bus protocols. For this reason it cannot be guaranteed that any of these non standard protocols are supported.

11 Deutsche Anleitung ÜBERSICHT Der LINDY CPU-Switch LITE ermöglicht die Bedienung von 2 bzw. 4 PCs von einem Arbeitsplatz mit Monitor, Maus und Tastatur. Maus und Mausanschluß am PC müssen dem PS/2 Standard entsprechen. Sie sparen mit dem LINDY CPU-Switch LITE bares Geld für überzählige Monitore, Mäuse und Tastaturen. Und zugleich wird Ihr Arbeitsplatz deutlich übersichtlicher und aufgeräumter! Kein ungewolltes Verwechseln mehr von Mäusen und Tastaturen. Diese Lösung beruht allein auf Hardwareumschaltung und ist damit unabhängig vom Betriebssystem. Es wird keine Software eingesetzt. Nur die Kabel anschließen, fertig. Der CPU-Switch LITE unterstützt zwei Arten des Umschaltens: per Tastatur-Hotkey-Eingabe (Tastenkombinationen siehe Seite 5 Bedienung) und durch Drücken der Umschalttasten am CPU-Switch. Der CPU-Switch LITE emuliert für alle angeschlossenen PCs permanent Maus-, Tastatur- und Monitoranschluß, so daß die angeschlossenen Rechner vom Umschaltvorgang nichts bemerken und daher auch keine Fehlermeldungen über nicht angeschlossene Peripheriegeräte erzeugen. 12 Deutsche Anleitung INBETRIEBNAHME Zur Installation des kompletten Systems schalten Sie bitte alle Geräte aus. Sie benötigen neben den anzuschließenden Rechnern lediglich einmal Monitor, Maus und Tastatur sowie die Monitor-, Maus- und Tastatur- Anschlußkabel jeweils in der Stecker-an-Stecker Ausführung. Bei zu kurzen Kabeln verwenden Sie bitte keine Verlängerungskabel sondern Anschlußkabel mit der benötigten Länge. Der Einsatz von Verlängerungskabeln führt zur Verschlechterung der Signalqualität, was sich besonders bei hohen Grafikauflösungen oder größeren Kabellängen bemerkbar machen kann. Schließen Sie Monitor, Maus und Tastatur direkt an die Stirnseite des LINDY CPU-Switch LITE an. Sollte Ihre Tastatur einen 5poligen DIN Anschlußstecker haben, so können Sie sie mit einem Adapter anschließen, z.b. LINDY Art. Nr (Adapterkabel, 15cm, unsere Empfehlung) oder Art. Nr (Steckeradapter). Mäuse mit 9poliger Sub-D Anschlußbuchse können nicht verwendet werden. Auch nicht unter Verwendung eines Adapters. Schließen Sie die Rechner mit den entsprechenden drei Anschlußkabeln für >Monitor, Maus und Tastatur an die Anschlüsse an den weiteren Buchsen des LINDY CPU-Switch LITE an. Der Mausanschluß am Rechner muß ein PS/2 Anschluß (6polge Mini-DIN Buchse) sein. Sollte Ihr Rechner diese Buchse nicht aufweisen, so können Sie im Handbuch der Hauptplatine des Rechners überprüfen, ob auf der Platine eine Steckerleiste zum nachträglichen Anschluß eines PS/2 Mausanschlusses vorgesehen ist. Dies ist seit vielen Jahren bei der Mehrzahl aller Rechner der Fall. Lassen Sie in diesem Falle den PS/2 Mausanschluß von einem versierten Fachhändler nachrüsten. LINDY bietet dazu die notwendigen PS/2 Slotblechadapter an, z.b. Art. Nr , 33133, 33134, Welches der richtige für Ihre Hauptplatine ist, ergibt sich aus dem Handbuch. Wenn Sie alle Verbindungen hergestellt haben, können Sie den Monitor und die angeschlossenen Rechner einschalten.
13 Deutsche Anleitung BEDIENUNG Auf Ihrem Monitor sehen Sie grundsätzlich nur das Bildsignal von einem der angeschlossen Rechner. Die Maus- und Tastatureingaben werden auch nur an diesen gerade ausgewählten Rechner weitergegeben. Nach dem Einschalten ist Port A aktiv. Das heißt Sie sehen das Monitorsignal des Rechners, der am Port A angeschlossen ist. Wenn dieser Rechner nicht eingeschaltet ist oder sich im Power- Save Modus mit dunkelgeschaltetem Monitorsignal befindet, bleibt Ihr Bildschirm dunkel. Dies ist KEIN Zeichen für einen defekten Umschalter! Zum Umschalten zwischen den Rechnern drücken Sie entweder die zugehörige Wahltastaste am LINDY CPU-Switch LITE oder drücken Sie auf der Tastatur einen Umschalt-Hotkey. Die Bedienung per Hotkeys unterscheidet sich bei der 2- und der 4- Port-Version. Für Version 1:4 (Art. Nr.32823): Folgende Hokeys sind möglich (Anmerkung: : ALT + CTRL + SHIFT Tasten gleichzeitig drücken, loslassen und dann die weiteren Tasten nacheinander drücken, auf deutschen Tastaturen werden die Tasten mit Alt + Strg + Großschreibung bezeichnet): - Direkte Portauswahl: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT und 1 oder 2 (oder 3 oder 4 für die 1:4 Version) und ENTER/RETURN. Der LINDY CPU- Switch LITE schaltet auf den eingegebenen Port um. - Auto-Scan-Modus: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT und danach 0 und danach ENTER/RETURN. Der LINDY CPU-Switch LITE schaltet in den Scanmodus und stellt im permanenten Wechsel die Bilder aller angeschlossenen Rechner dar. Dieser Modus kann nur beendet werden durch Drücken der LEERTASTE. Alle anderen Eingaben werden ignoriert. - Vorheriger/Nächster-Kanal-Modus: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT, und danach 9 und danach ENTER/RETURN. Der LINDY CPU-Switch LITE schaltet in den Modus Vorheriger/Nächster. Durch Drücken der linken SHIFT Taste wird zum vorherigen Rechner geschaltet, durch Drücken der rechten SHIFT Taste zum numerisch nächsten Kanal.
14 Deutsche Anleitung - Dieser Modus kann nur durch Drücken der LEERTASTE, wieder verlassen - erden. Alle anderen Eingaben werden in diesem Modus ignoriert. Für die Version 1:2 (Art. Nr ): -Direkte Portauswahl: Statt ALT + CTRL + SHIFT drücken Sie bitte zweimal kurz hintereinander CTRL-Taste. Hierauf wird zum jeweils anderen PC umgeschaltet. -Auto-Scan-Modus: Diesen erreichen Sie durch Betätigen der linken und rechten SHIFT-Taste kurz hintereinander. Aus dem Auto-Scan- Modus heraus erreichen Sie direkt PC1 mit der rechten und PC2 mit der linken SHIFT-Taste. Mit der LEERTASTE verlassen Sie den Auto- Scan-Modus; es bleibt der momentan aktive Kanal zugeschaltet. Bitte beachten Sie ferner, daß der LINDY CPU-Switch LITE im Scanmodus und im Modus Vorheriger/Nächster nicht auf Tastatur- und Mauseingaben reagiert. Diese Modi können nur durch Drücken der Leertaste beendet werden.

Serielle Mäuse werden auch mit Steckeradapter NICHT unterstützt. Prüfen Fehlerhafte Sie deninstallation korrekten der Kabel. Sitz der Monitorkabel. Falsche oder fehlende Installation der Maustreiber Maßnahme Leertaste drücken und den Modus verlassen Rechner überprüfen und aus Stromsparmodus aufwecken bzw. einschalten. Bitte beachten Sie die korrekte Eingabe: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT Tasten gleichzeitig drücken, loslassen und dann die weiteren Tasten nacheinander drücken. Verwenden Sie eine PS/2 Maus bzw. lassen Sie den PS/2-Mausanschluß an Ihrem Rechner nachrüsten, s.o.. Bei Bitte Auflösungen überprüfen Sie alle oberhalb Kabel auf von korrekten 640 x 480 Sitz. und Kabellängen oberhalb Überprüfen von 2m sollten Sie unter grundsätzlich WINDOWS höherwertige im Gerätemanager SVGA Kabel die verwendet korrekte werden. 19 Manuel Français Description Le LINDY CPU Switch Lite permet l utilisation de 2 à 4 PCs à partir d un poste avec moniteur, clavier et souris. Le clavier et la souris doivent posséder une connexion PS/2, ce qui permet un gain de place et une économie. Cette installation est indépendante du système d exploitation, pas d utilisation de logiciel, juste une connexion par câble. Le CPU Switch Lite permet de commuter entre les PCs par l intermédiaire d un raccourci clavier ou du bouton situé sur sa façade. Le CPU Switch Lite possède une fonction d émulation de la souris et du clavier sur tous les PCs connectés, ce qui permet de déconnecter un périphérique sans messages d erreur. 20 Manuel Français INSTALLATION Pour l installation complète du système, éteignez tous vos périphériques. Utilisez les sorties Moniteur, Souris et Clavier de votre PC, que vous connectez par l intermédiaire des câbles moniteur, souris et clavier sur le boîtier. N utilisez pas de rallonges mais les câbles adéquats pour chaque longueur. Les rallonges diminuent la qualité d affichage et ne vous permettent pas de travailler dans de hautes résolutions graphiques. Connectez le moniteur, la souris et le clavier directement sur la façade gauche du LINDY CPU Switch Lite. Si votre clavier possède une connexion DIN 5, vous pourrez utiliser notre adaptateur ref ou notre câble adaptateur ref Les souris avec une connexion Sub-D 9 ne pourront pas être utilisées. Connectez les trois câbles de connexion de votre PC sur le boîtier LINDY CPU Switch Lite. La connexion souris du PC doit être en PS/2 (Mini-Din 6). Si votre PC ne reconnaît pas la sortie, il faudra vérifier si votre PC est prévu pour une connexion PS/2. Cela s est déjà produit sur plusieurs PCs, surtout d anciennes générations. LINDY vous propose dans ce cas des adaptateurs de référence 33133, et Le bon adaptateur préconisé pour votre PC est indiqué dans votre manuel. Lorsque toutes les connexions sont établies, vous pourrez raccorder les moniteurs et les PCs.
21 Manuel Français UTILISATION Sur votre moniteur, vous verrez le signal d affichage lorsqu un PC est connecté. Après la mise en marche, le port A est actif. Vous verrez donc le signal moniteur de votre PC connecté sur le port A. Si votre PC n est pas connecté ou que votre écran est en mode veille, vous obtenez un écran noir. Cela ne veut pas dire que votre commutateur est défectueux. Version 1:4 (Article 32823) : Pour commuter entre les PCs, il est possible de commuter par l intermédiaire du CPU Swicth Lite ou par une combinaison de touches du clavier. Les raccourcis clavier sont les suivants : - Sélection directe du port : ALT+CTRL+SHIFT suivi du numéro du port puis ENTER. Le LINDY CPU SWITCH LITE commutera ensuite sur le port souhaité. - Mode Auto-Scan : ALT + CTRL + SHIFT puis 0 et ensuite ENTER vous permet de passer en mode AutoScan. Le LINDY CPU SWITCH LITE scannera régulièrement tous les ports actifs. Vous pouvez arrêter la commutation à tout moment en appuyant sur la barre espace. - Mode de déplacement de port en port : ALT + CTRL + SHIFT et 9 puis ENTER. Le CPU Switch Lite commute en mode déplacement. En appuyant sur la SHIFT gauche, vous reviendrez sur le port précédent et en appuyant sur SHIFT droit, vous vous déplacerez sur le port suivant. Ce mode peux être arrêté en appuyant sur la barre espace. Toute autre touche sera ignorée. Version 1:2 (Article 32822) : - Sélection directe du port : Appuyez sur la touche CTRL deux fois pour la commutation d un port à l autre.

L ordinateur est éteint ou en mode veille. Mauvaise saisie de la combinaison de touches Mesures Prises Appuyez sur la barre espace pour arrêter le mode. Vérifiez l ordinateur et sortez du mode veille Veillez à renter la combinaison correcte : ALT + CTRL + SHIFT au clavier et l un après l autre.
24 Manuel Français Symptôm e La souris n est pas reconnue sous Windows ou ne fonctionne pas Mauvaise qualité d affichage ou mauvaise image Solution ll est uniquement possible de connecter des souris PS/2 sur des ordinateurs incluant un port souris PS/2. Les souris série avec adataptateur PS/2 ne fonctionnent pas non plus. Echec lors de l installation des câbles. Mauvaise installation du pilote de la souris Vérifiez la bonne connexion du câble moniteur. Mesures Prises Vérifiez que vous ayez bien connecté une souris PS/2. Vérifiez que les câbles soient tous bien connectés et bien à leur emplacement respectif. 28 Manuale Italiano INTRODUZIONE Il LINDY CPU-Switch LITE permette la gestione di 2 oppure 4 PC da un posto di lavoro con Monitor, Mouse e Tastiera. Il mouse e il suo cavo di collegamento devono essere conformi allo standard PS/2. Si evita così l'acquisto di Monitor, Mouse e Tastiere superflui, il posto di lavoro diventa più ordinato senza il rischio di confondere i mouse e le tastiere. Questa soluzione si basa esclusivamente su un meccanismo di commutazione Hardware ed è perciò indipendente dal sistema operativo. Non occorre software, basta semplicemente collegare i cavi. Il CPU-Switch LITE supporta due modi di commutazione: tramite tastiera (combinazione Hotkey) oppure premendo l'apposito tasto sul CPU-Switch Il CPU-Switch LITE emula per tutti i PC collegati permanentemente la presenza di Mouse, Tastiera e Monitor, in maniera tale che i PC collegati non risentono della commutazione e non creano messaggi di errore per periferiche non collegate. CARATTERISTICHE - Supporta risoluzioni Monitor sino a 1600 x Emulazione permanente di Mouse, Tastiera e Monitor - Supporta PC con standard PS/2 - Mouse seriali e ingressi seriali sul PC NON vengono riconosciuti - Funziona con tutti i sistemi operativi standard - Collegamenti tramite cavi LINDY Standard per SVGA e PS/2 - Non occorre alimentatore esterno
29 Manuale Italiano INSTALLAZIONE Per l installazione del sistema occorre spegnere tutte le apparecchiature coinvolte. Oltre ai PC da collegare occorrono una Tastiera, un Mouse e un Monitor con i relativi cavi di collegamento nella versione maschio/maschio. Se i cavi dovessero risultare troppo corti, conviene usare cavi di collegamenti più lunghi. L'utilizzo di cavi prolunga comporta una dispersione del segnale, che si evidenzia particolarmente nel caso di risoluzioni grafiche alte oppure lunghezze di cavi maggiori. Collegate il Monitor, il Mouse e la Tastiera direttamente sulla parte frontale a sinistra del LINDY CPU-Switch LITE. Nel caso la tastiera fosse dotata di un connettore a 5 poli DIN maschio, è possibile collegarla tramite l'articolo LINDY cod (adattatore) oppure LINDY cod (cavetto adattatore, 15cm). I Mouse con connettore a 9 poli sub-d non possono essere utilizzati. Collegate i PC con i relativi tre cavi di collegamento agli ulteriori ingressi del LINDY CPU-Switch LITE. L'attacco per il mouse sul PC deve essere di tipo PS/2 (6 poli Mini-DIN femmina). Nel caso il PC non fosse dotato di tale uscita, occorre controllare nel manuale del PC se sulla scheda madre è previsto un tale attacco che permetta di collegare un Mouse PS/2. Fortunatamente quasi tutti i PC offrono da molti anni questa possibilità. In caso affermativo conviene farsi predisporre questa possibilità dal Vostro rivenditore di fiducia. LINDY offre gli attacchi esterni PS/2 nel suo catalogo, p.es. cod , 33133, 33134, Quale sia quello giusto si capisce dalle informazioni del manuale della scheda madre. Una volta stabiliti tutti i collegamenti, si possono accendere il monitor e i relativi PC.
30 Manuale Italiano UTILIZZO Sul monitor compare inevitabilmente solo l immagine creata dal PC selezionato. Subito dopo l accensione, è attiva di default la porta A. Quando un PC è collegato a questa porta e non è accesso oppure è in modalità Power-Save con monitor spento, non comparirà ovviamente nessuna immagine. Ciò non significa che il CPU Switch è difettoso! La commutazione tramite i tasti hotkey varia a seconda della versione del CPU Switch 2- e 4 porte. Versione 1:4 (Art. No ): Per passare tra i diversi computer collegati premere il tasto sul CPU Switch LITE o utilizzare un tasto hotkey dalla tastiera. Sono disponibili i seguenti tasti Hotkey: (Nota bene: premere simultaneamente i tasti ALT + CTRL + SHIFT, lasciare andare e premere gli altri tasti successivamente uno alla volta.) Selezione diretta della porta: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT seguito da 1 o 2 (oppure 3 o 4 per la versione 1:4) ed ENTER. Il LINDY CPU Switch LITE commuterà sulla porta selezionata. Modalità Auto-Scan: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT seguito da 0 ed ENTER. Il LINDY CPU Switch LITE entrerà in modalità Scan e mostrerà in sequenza ogni CPU collegata. Premere il tasto BARRA SPAZIATRICE per terminare quest operazione. Qualsiasi altro comando sarà ignorato. Modalità Precedente/Successivo: ALT + CTRL + SHIFT seguiti da 9 ed ENTER. Il LINDY CPU Switch LITE passerà alla modalità Precedente/Successivo. Premendo il tasto sinistro SHIFT, il LINDY CPU Switch LITE selezionerà la porta precedente. Premendo il tasto destro SHIFT verrà selezionata la porta successiva. Premere la BARRA SPAZIATRICE per terminare quest operazione Qualsiasi altro comando sarà ignorato. Versione 1:2 (Art. No ):

Quando si è in modalità di Auto-Scan, premere il tasto SINISTRO SHIFT per PC 1 e DESTRO SHIFT per PC 2. Per uscire dalla modalità Auto-Scan premere la BARRA SPAZIATRICE. SIGNIFICATO DEI LED Stato del LED ACCESO SPENTO Lampeggio regolare Lampeggio irregolare Significato Porta selezionata Porta non selezionata Porta selezionata nel modo SCAN Porta selezionata nel modo canale precedente/successivo CAUSE DI MALFUNZIONAMENTO Se dovessero verificarsi mal funzionamenti controllate innanzitutto che tutti i cavi siano ben collegati. Tenete inoltre presente che il LINDY CPU-Switch LITE non consente alcun comando tramite tastiera quando si trova nel modo Scan oppure canale precedente/successivo. Questi modi possono solo essere disinseriti tramite il tasto Barra spaziatrice.

Mouse seriali anche se dotato di un adattatore NON vengono supportati. Cavi installati in maniera errata. Installazione errata o mancanza del software Mouse driver Soluzione Utilizzate un Mouse PS/2 e/o fate installare sul Vostro PC un interfaccia PS/2 (vedi sopra). Controllate tutti cavi. Controllate sotto WINDOWS l installazione ed il corretto funzionamento del Mouse PS/2 su tutti i PC collegati. Nota bene: Il CPU-Switch LITE supporta anche una moltitudine di Mouse predisposti allo scrolling, nonché di altre periferiche di input. Poiché molte periferiche non standard utilizzano dei driver software con dei segnali BUS particolari, non possiamo possibilmente garantire il corretto funzionamento di tali periferiche. Cattiva immagine Controllate i cavi monitor. Lavorando con risoluzioni superiori a 640 x 480 e cavi con lunghezza superiore ai 2m, raccomandiamo l'utilizzo dei cavi LINDY SVGA Premium.
