5 Congratulazioni! Congratulazioni per l acquisto del montalatte SilverCrest SMA 500 B1 (di seguito definito montalatte ) e per la scelta di un prodotto di alta gamma. Prima di mettere in funzione l apparecchio per la prima volta è necessario leggere attentamente le istruzioni per l uso, in modo da acquisire dimestichezza con il montalatte. Prestare particolarmente attenzione alle avvertenze di sicurezza e utilizzare il montalatte esclusivamente secondo quanto descritto nelle presenti istruzioni, rispettandone la destinazione d uso indicata. Le istruzioni per l uso devono essere conservate con cura e consegnate insieme a tutta la relativa documentazione in caso di cessione del montalatte a terzi. 1. Destinazione d uso Il montalatte è un apparecchio destinato esclusivamente all uso domestico per scaldare e/o montare il latte. Si vieta l utilizzo all aperto e in regioni caratterizzate da climi tropicali. Il montalatte non è idoneo all utilizzo commerciale e/o all interno di aziende. Il montalatte è predisposto per il solo utilizzo domestico e privato. L impiego per altri scopi non è conforme alla destinazione d uso. Il montalatte rispetta tutte le norme e le direttive previste dalla dichiarazione di conformità CE. Tale conformità non è più garantita in caso di modifiche apportate al montalatte senza il consenso del produttore. Il produttore declina ogni responsabilità per danni o guasti derivanti dalla violazione di tali norme. Utilizzare unicamente gli accessori in dotazione forniti dal produttore. 6 2. Contenuto della confezione Estrarre il montalatte e tutti i rispettivi accessori dalla confezione. Rimuovere completamente i materiali di imballaggio, verificando la completezza e l integrità di tutti i componenti. Nel caso in cui la consegna risulti incompleta o danneggiata, contattare il produttore. Questo simbolo indica ulteriori informazioni sull argomento. Possibile utilizzo improprio Utilizzare il recipiente (7) esclusivamente con l apposita base (11). Non scaldare mai il recipiente sul fornello e non utilizzare basi di altri montalatte. Introdurre solo latte nel recipiente (7), non utilizzare il montalatte per liquidi diversi. Utilizzare esclusivamente latte fresco. Evitare il consumo di latte che è rimasto a lungo nel recipiente (7). Non scaldare nuovamente il latte raffreddato. Gettare sempre il latte se non è fresco. 9 Bambini e persone con disabilità Il presente montalatte può essere utilizzato da bambini dagli 8 anni in su e da persone con ridotte facoltà fisiche, sensoriali o mentali, nonché da persone prive di sufficiente esperienza o conoscenza dello stesso, solo se sorvegliati o istruiti in merito all utilizzo sicuro del montalatte stesso e consapevoli degli eventuali rischi derivanti da un utilizzo improprio. Non permettere ai bambini di giocare con il montalatte. La pulizia e la manutenzione a carico dell utente non possono essere eseguite da bambini, se non di età superiore a 8 anni e sorvegliati. Tenere il montalatte e il cavo di alimentazione (12) lontano dalla portata dei bambini di età inferiore a 8 anni. PERICOLO! Il materiale da imballaggio non è un giocattolo. Non permettere ai bambini di giocare con i sacchetti in plastica. Pericolo di soffocamento. Conservare il dispositivo fuori della portata dei bambini. Avvertenze generali per la sicurezza PERICOLO di ustioni Non toccare mai l alloggiamento del recipiente (7) durante o immediatamente dopo l utilizzo. Utilizzare sempre e solo l impugnatura (6) per afferrare o sollevare il recipiente (7). Durante la preparazione del latte possono verificarsi fuoriuscite di vapore molto caldo. Fare attenzione a non ustionarsi. Se necessario, indossare guanti da forno. Italiano - 7

10 Girare il recipiente (7) in modo tale da direzionare il flusso di vapore lontano dall utente. Pulire il recipiente (7) solo se completamente raffreddato. Non superare la quantità massima indicata dal segno MAX all interno del recipiente (7). L eccesso di latte in ebollizione potrebbe fuoriuscire provocando ustioni e danni materiali. Chiudere sempre il coperchio (2) del montalatte prima dell utilizzo per evitare la fuoriuscita del latte e il conseguente rischio di ustioni e danni materiali. Non rimuovere il coperchio (2) durante il funzionamento del montalatte. ATTENZIONE ai danni materiali Utilizzare il recipiente (7) solo con la rispettiva base (11). Non appoggiare oggetti sulla base dell apparecchio (11). Utilizzare il montalatte solo se posizionato su una superficie piana, stabile e refrattaria. Se la superficie di appoggio non è piana, il montalatte potrebbe ribaltarsi causando danni materiali e possibili ustioni. Non lasciare mai il montalatte incustodito durante il funzionamento. Scollegare sempre la spina dalla presa di corrente se il montalatte rimane incustodito. PERICOLO di scossa elettrica Il cavo di alimentazione (12) non deve essere danneggiato. Non sostituire mai un cavo di alimentazione (12) 8 - Italiano

11 danneggiato, rivolgersi sempre al servizio di assistenza clienti (vedere il capitolo Avvertenze sulla garanzia ). Nel caso in cui il cavo di alimentazione (12) risulti danneggiato sussiste il pericolo di scossa elettrica. Non aprire mai l alloggiamento della base (11), non contiene alcun componente che necessiti di manutenzione. L apertura dell alloggiamento comporta il pericolo di scossa elettrica. Se si nota la presenza di fumo, rumori o odori anomali, spegnere immediatamente il montalatte e scollegare la spina dalla presa di corrente. In questi casi non utilizzare il montalatte prima di averlo sottoposto a un controllo approfondito da parte del personale specializzato. Non inalare i fumi derivanti da un eventuale incendio del dispositivo. In caso di inalazione accidentale dei fumi, consultare un medico. L inalazione dei fumi può arrecare danni alla salute. Assicurarsi che il cavo di alimentazione (12) non venga danneggiato da spigoli vivi o superfici calde. Assicurarsi che il cavo di alimentazione (12) non venga stretto o schiacciato. Scollegare sempre il montalatte dalla rete elettrica se incustodito, nonché prima dell assemblaggio, dello smontaggio o della pulizia dello stesso. Afferrare sempre la spina per disinserire il cavo di alimentazione dalla presa di corrente, non tirare mai il cavo stesso (12). In caso di danni visibili al montalatte o al cavo di alimentazione (12), spegnere immediatamente il montalatte, Italiano - 9

12 scollegare la spina dalla presa di corrente e rivolgersi al servizio di assistenza clienti (vedere il capitolo Avvertenze sulla garanzia ). Collegare la base (11) esclusivamente a prese di corrente facilmente accessibili e a norma, la cui tensione di rete corrisponda a quella indicata sulla targhetta del modello. Dopo aver collegato l apparecchio alla presa di corrente, assicurarsi che questa resti facilmente accessibile, in modo da poter staccare rapidamente la spina in caso di pericolo. Non immergere mai la base (11) o il recipiente (7) in acqua o altri liquidi. Nel caso in cui siano penetrati liquidi nella base (11), scollegare immediatamente la spina dalla presa di corrente e rivolgersi al servizio di assistenza clienti (vedere il capitolo Avvertenze sulla garanzia ). PERICOLO di incendio Introdurre nel recipiente (7) una quantità minima di latte sufficiente al raggiungimento del segno MIN. Una quantità eccessivamente ridotta di latte può causare il surriscaldamento dell apparecchio e il conseguente pericolo di incendio. 5. 13 6. Prima della messa in esercizio Estrarre dalla confezione il montalatte SMA 500 B1 e tutti gli accessori e verificare che la dotazione sia completa. Rimuovere tutte le pellicole protettive. Tenere il materiale da imballaggio fuori dalla portata dei bambini e smaltirlo correttamente. 7. Messa in esercizio Prima di riscaldare per la prima volta il latte per il consumo è necessario pulire il montalatte, in modo da rimuovere polveri ed eventuali residui del materiale di imballaggio. Procedere come descritto nel capitolo Manutenzione e pulizia. PERICOLO di scossa elettrica Tenere la base dell apparecchio (11) lontano dall acqua. Pericolo di scosse elettriche mortali. ATTENZIONE: pericolo di scottature Chiudere sempre il coperchio (2) del montalatte prima dell utilizzo. ATTENZIONE: pericolo di lesioni Utilizzare esclusivamente latte fresco. Evitare il consumo di latte che è rimasto a lungo nel recipiente (7). Nota: Se il recipiente (7) viene sollevato dalla base (11) durante il funzionamento, la preparazione si arresta automaticamente. Posizionare nuovamente il recipiente (7) sulla base (11) e riavviare la preparazione utilizzando il pulsante on/off (10). La frusta (4, 5) non utilizzata per la preparazione può essere conservata sull apposito supporto (1), che si trova nella parte inferiore del coperchio (2) Funzioni del pulsante on/off Il pulsante on/off (10) consente di selezionare la modalità di funzionamento del montalatte. 14 7.2. Segno MIN e MAX All interno del recipiente (7) si trovano tre segni. Il segno MIN (non presente nell illustrazione) corrisponde alla quantità minima che deve essere introdotta. Il segno MAX inferiore corrisponde alla capacità massima per l utilizzo della frusta B (5). Il segno MAX superiore corrisponde alla capacità massima per l utilizzo della frusta A (4) Preparazione uniforme di latte caldo Montare la frusta A (4) sul perno posto all interno del recipiente (7), inserendola fino al punto di arresto. Rimuovere il recipiente (7) dalla base (11) e versarvi una quantità minima di latte sufficiente al raggiungimento del segno MIN all interno del recipiente (7). Al fine di evitare la possibile fuoriuscita di latte bollente, non superare la quantità indicata dal segno MAX. Posizionare il coperchio (2) sul recipiente (7). Posizionare il recipiente (7) sulla base (11). Premere brevemente il pulsante on/off (10). Il LED rosso (9) si accende e la frusta A (4) inizia a girare per garantire che il latte venga scaldato in modo uniforme. Non appena il latte è caldo, il montalatte si arresta automaticamente e il LED rosso (9) si spegne. Premendo brevemente il pulsante on/off (10) è possibile fermare la preparazione in ogni momento. Sollevare il recipiente (7) dalla base (11), rimuovere il coperchio (2) e utilizzare il latte caldo a piacimento. Attendere 2-3 minuti prima di utilizzare nuovamente il montalatte Consigli per una schiuma ottimale Si consiglia l utilizzo di latte vaccino. Altri tipi di latte si comportano diversamente durante la montatura e potrebbero fuoriuscire dal montalatte. Il contenuto di grassi del latte utilizzato dovrebbe essere preferibilmente compreso tra l 1,5 % e il 3,5 %. Latte magro e latte scremato non sono adatti alla preparazione di schiuma. Utilizzare latte freddo. Non provare a montare il latte per la seconda volta se non si è soddisfatti della schiuma ottenuta. Si rischia di far bruciare il latte. Se la schiuma non risultasse sufficientemente densa, lasciarla riposare per circa 30 secondi. In questo modo si consente al latte ancora liquido di scendere verso il fondo e la consistenza della schiuma migliora Italiano

15 7.5. Preparazione della schiuma a freddo SilverCrest SMA 500 B1 Montare la frusta B (5) sul perno posto all interno del recipiente (7), inserendola fino al punto di arresto. Rimuovere il recipiente (7) dalla base (11) e versarvi una quantità minima di latte sufficiente al raggiungimento del segno MIN all interno del recipiente (7). Il volume del latte, una volta montato, aumenta. Pertanto, al fine di evitare la possibile fuoriuscita di latte bollente, non superare la quantità indicata dal segno MAX. Posizionare il coperchio (2) sul recipiente (7). Posizionare il recipiente (7) sulla base (11). Premere il pulsante on/off (10) per circa 3 secondi. Il LED blu (8) si accende e la frusta B (5) inizia a girare. La preparazione della schiuma ha inizio. Non appena la schiuma è pronta, il montalatte si arresta automaticamente e il LED blu (8) si spegne. Premendo brevemente il pulsante on/off (10) è possibile fermare la preparazione in ogni momento. Attendere circa 30 secondi per lasciare che il latte ancora liquido si depositi sul fondo del recipiente (7). Sollevare il recipiente (7) dalla base (11), rimuovere il coperchio (2) e utilizzare la schiuma di latte a piacimento. Attendere 2-3 minuti prima di utilizzare nuovamente il montalatte Preparazione della schiuma a caldo Montare la frusta B (5) sul perno posto all interno del recipiente (7), inserendola fino al punto di arresto. Rimuovere il recipiente (7) dalla base (11) e versarvi una quantità minima di latte sufficiente al raggiungimento del segno MIN all interno del recipiente (7). Attendere circa 30 secondi per lasciare che il latte ancora liquido si depositi sul fondo del recipiente (7). Sollevare il recipiente (7) dalla base (11), rimuovere il coperchio (2) e utilizzare la schiuma di latte a piacimento. Attendere 2-3 minuti prima di utilizzare nuovamente il montalatte. 16 7.7. Spunti per l utilizzo della schiuma di latte La schiuma di latte appena preparata può essere utilizzata per le bevande più disparate. Ecco alcune ricette da imitare: Melange viennese caffè appena fatto latte caldo schiuma di latte Versare in una grande tazza il caffè nero appena fatto e il latte caldo in pari quantità, fino a lasciare circa 1 cm di spazio dal bordo della tazza. Aggiungere la schiuma di latte appena preparata. Latte Macchiato 150 ml di latte per la schiuma 1 espresso (25-30 ml) Preparare sul momento la schiuma di latte e versare il latte montato in un bicchiere per latte macchiato, fino a riempirlo per circa 3/4. Versare lentamente e con cautela l espresso sulla schiuma. Per un caffè dal gusto più forte è sufficiente usare un doppio espresso. Il caffè dovrebbe idealmente concentrarsi in uno strato centrale. Il latte ancora liquido rimarrà sul fondo, mentre uno strato spesso di schiuma ricoprirà la bevanda. Se il bicchiere non è completamente colmo è possibile aggiungere con cautela l eventuale schiuma avanzata. Carajillo, versione spagnola del caffè corretto 1 espresso 1 cl di brandy o rum 1-2 cl di liquore all uovo 1 cucchiaino colmo di zucchero di canna fine schiuma di latte Mescolare l espresso con il brandy, facendovi sciogliere lo zucchero di canna. Versare il liquore all uovo in un bicchiere sufficientemente grande, quindi versarvi molto lentamente il caffè con l aiuto di un cucchiaino. In questo modo si formeranno due strati. Aggiungere la schiuma di latte appena preparata fino a colmare il bicchiere. Caffè con crema di nocciola 1 tazza di caffè appena fatto 2 cucchiaini di crema di nocciola schiuma di latte Mescolare la crema di nocciola direttamente nel caffè bollente appena fatto, prima che si raffreddi. Aggiungere la schiuma di latte appena preparata. Gli amanti del piccante possono provare una variante al peperoncino: basta aggiungere un pizzico di peperoncino in polvere da mescolare insieme al caffè e un altro pizzico per guarnire la schiuma. 17 8. Manutenzione e pulizia PERICOLO di scossa elettrica Prima di procedere con pulizia della base dell apparecchio (11), scollegare la spina dalla presa di corrente. In caso contrario sussiste il pericolo di scossa elettrica. Non versare o spruzzare liquidi sulla base (11) e non immergere questa in acqua o altri liquidi. In caso contrario sussiste il pericolo di scossa elettrica e incendio da cortocircuito. PERICOLO di ustioni Aspettare che il recipiente(7) sia completamente raffreddato prima di pulirlo. In caso contrario sussiste il pericolo di ustioni. ATTENZIONE ai danni materiali Non utilizzare detergenti abrasivi o corrosivi per la pulizia, evitare l uso di oggetti abrasivi (ad es. spugne in metallo). In caso contrario si rischia di danneggiare il montalatte. Non lavare il montalatte (7) o gli accessori in lavastoviglie per evitare danni permanenti all apparecchio. Per una pulizia ottimale dell apparecchio, eseguire la pulizia direttamente al raffreddarsi del recipiente (7), in modo da impedire ai residui di latte di seccarsi Pulizia semplice Lasciare inserita la frusta (4, 5) utilizzata. Riempire il recipiente (7) di acqua prestando attenzione ai segni MIN e MAX, quindi chiuderlo con il coperchio (2). Accendere il montalatte per circa 30 secondi. Risciacquare quindi il recipiente (7) con abbondante acqua pulita e lavare il coperchio (2) con acqua corrente Pulizia approfondita: Scollegare il cavo di alimentazione (12) dalla presa di corrente. Rimuovere la frusta utilizzata (4, 5). Pulire l interno del recipiente (7) con acqua calda e un poco di detersivo per piatti. Utilizzare una spugna o un panno morbido. Fare attenzione soprattutto a rimuovere i residui di latte depositati intorno al perno. Risciacquare quindi il recipiente (7) con abbondante acqua pulita. Rimuovere la guarnizione (3) dal coperchio (2) e pulire entrambi i pezzi con acqua e un detersivo delicato. Risciacquare con acqua pulita, asciugare completamente entrambi i pezzi, quindi inserire nuovamente la guarnizione (3) sul coperchio (2). Pulire le fruste A e B (4, 5) con acqua e detersivo, e risciacquarle con acqua pulita. Risciacquare quindi il recipiente (7) con abbondante acqua pulita e lavare il coperchio (2) con acqua corrente. 18 Le superfici esterne, la base (11) e il cavo di alimentazione (12) devono essere puliti con un panno morbido e leggermente umido. In caso di macchie ostinate utilizzare un detersivo delicato. Lasciare asciugare completamente tutti i componenti. ATTENZIONE ai danni materiali Terminata la pulizia, prima del successivo utilizzo verificare che il contatto sul lato inferiore del recipiente (7) sia completamente asciutto e privo di residui di detersivo. In caso contrario, posizionando il recipiente (7) sulla base (11), si rischia di provocare un cortocircuito e il conseguente guasto del montalatte. 9. Conservazione in caso di inutilizzo prolungato In caso di inutilizzo prolungato del montalatte, conservarlo in un luogo sicuro, pulito e asciutto. Prima di riporre l apparecchio, effettuare una pulizia approfondita secondo quanto descritto nel capitolo precedente. 10. Risoluzione di problemi In caso di funzionamento anomalo del montalatte, provare a risolvere il problema consultando le seguenti avvertenze. Al persistere del problema, anche dopo aver adottato i seguenti accorgimenti, contattare la nostra hotline di assistenza (vedere il capitolo Avvertenze sulla garanzia ) Il montalatte non funziona La spina di alimentazione non è inserita. Inserire la spina in una presa di corrente. La presa di corrente è guasta. Provare a collegare il montalatte a un altra presa, per la quale si è sicuri del buon funzionamento. Il montalatte non è acceso. Premere il pulsante on/off (10) per accendere il montalatte. Il montalatte è surriscaldato e la protezione contro il surriscaldamento ne impedisce l accensione. Attendere che il montalatte si sia raffreddato. Introdurre una quantità minima di latte sufficiente al raggiungimento del segno MIN La schiuma del latte non si forma Verificare che la frusta B (5) sia inserita. In caso contrario, inserire la frusta B (5). La frusta B (5) utilizzata non è fissata al perno. Inserire la frusta B (5) sul perno fino al punto di arresto Italiano

Observe the safety instructions and only use the milk frother in the manner described in these operating instructions and for the indicated fields of application. Keep these operating instructions in a safe place. Hand over all documents in the event that you pass on the milk frother to a third party. 1. Intended use This milk frother is a household device and is only intended for heating/frothing milk. It must not be used outside of closed rooms or in regions with a tropical climate. The milk frother is not intended for business or commercial use. Use the milk frother solely for private purposes in living areas; any other use is deemed improper. 27 Children and people with disabilities This milk frother may be used by children aged eight and over and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or who lack experience and knowledge, provided that they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the device and understand the resulting dangers. Children must not play with the milk frother. Cleaning and maintenance by the user may not be performed by children, unless they are over eight years of age and supervised. General safety instructions DANGER of burn injuries Never touch the housing of the canister (7) during and immediately after operation. Only use the handle (6) to hold or carry the canister (7). If you pour in too much milk, it can boil over and cause burn injuries and damage to property. Only operate the milk frother with the lid (2) on. Otherwise milk can escape and cause burn injuries and damage to property. Do not remove the lid (2) when the milk frother is being used. WARNING of damage to property Only use the canister (7) with the correspond base (11). Do not put any objects on the base (11). Only operate the milk frother on a flat, stable and fire-proof surface. If the milk frother is not placed on a level surface, it can tip over and cause damage to property and under certain circumstances may also cause burn injuries. 29 DANGER of electric shock The power cable (12) must not be damaged. Never replace a damaged power cable (12). Instead contact the service department (see Warranty information section). If the power cable (12) is damaged, there is a risk of electric shock. Never open the housing of the base (11), as this does not contain any parts to be maintained. If the housing is open, there is a risk of electric shock. If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or smells, switch off the milk frother immediately and remove the plug from the socket. In a case like this, you must stop using the milk frother until it has been checked by a specialist. Do not inhale smoke possibly caused by a burning device. If you inhaled smoke, consult a physician. Inhaling smoke can be harmful to your health. Ensure that the power cable (12) cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot surfaces. Ensure that the power cable (12) is not jammed or squashed. The milk frother must always be disconnected from the mains if left unattended, prior to assembly and disassembly or cleaning. Never remove the plug from the socket by pulling the power cable (12); only ever pull the plug. English - 27

30 If you find visible damage on the milk frother or the power cable (12), switch off the milk frother immediately, remove the plug from the socket and contact the service department (see Warranty information section). Only plug the base (11) into a power socket that is properly installed and easily accessible and whose mains voltage corresponds with the rating plate specifications. Following connection, the power socket must continue to be easily accessible so that the plug can be quickly removed in an emergency. Never immerse the base (11) or the canister (7) in water or any other liquid. If liquid enters into the base (11), remove the plug from the socket and contact the service department (see Warranty information section). DANGER of fire Fill the canister (7) up to the MIN marking with milk. If you do not pour in enough milk, there is a risk of fire due to overheating. 5. 31 6. Before initial start-up Remove the SMA 500 B1 milk frother and all accessories from the packaging and check the completeness of the delivery. Remove the protective film. Keep the packaging material away from children and dispose of it in an environmentally-friendly manner. 7. Initial start-up Before you prepare milk for consumption for the first time, you must first clean the milk frother in order to remove dust and any remnants of the packaging material. Follow the procedure described in the Maintenance/cleaning section. DANGER of electric shock Keep the base (11) away from water. There is danger of electric shock. WARNING Risk of scalding Only operate the milk frother with the lid (2) on. WARNING Risk of injury Always use fresh milk. Do not consume milk that has been sitting in the canister (7) for a long period of time. Please note: If you lift the canister (7) off the base (11) during operation, the preparation process stops automatically. Place the canister (7) onto the base (11) again and restart the process using the On/Off button (10). You can conveniently store the whisk (4, 5) that is not currently in use in the whisk holder (1). 32 7.2. MIN and MAX markings There are three markings indicated inside the canister (7). The MIN marking (not shown) indicates the minimum fill capacity. The lower MAX marking indicates the maximum fill capacity when using whisk B (5). The upper MAX marking indicates the maximum fill capacity when using whisk A (4) Heating milk evenly Insert whisk A ( 4 ) up to the stop on the drive shaft inside the canister (7). Take the canister (7) off the base (11) and pour milk up to the MIN marking inside the canister (7). Only pour milk up to the upper MAX marking in order to prevent the hot milk from overflowing. Place the lid (2) onto the canister (7). Place the canister (7) onto the base (11). Press the On/Off button (10). The red LED (9) lights up and whisk A (4) begins to turn, which ensures even heating. As soon as the milk is hot, the milk frother automatically switches off and the red LED (9) goes out. You can stop the preparation process at any time by briefly pressing the On/Off button (10). Lift the canister (7) off the base (11), remove the lid (2) and use the hot milk as you wish. Wait two to three minutes before using the milk frother again Tips on how to make good milk froth We recommend using cow s milk. Other types of milk behave differently during the frothing process. This can result in milk overflowing out of the milk frother. It is best to use milk with a fat content of between 1.5 and 3.5 per cent. Low-fat milk and skimmed milk do not froth well. The milk should be cool. Do not try to froth the milk a second time if you do not like the milk froth the first time. This is because the milk can burn. If you find the milk froth to be too liquidy, we recommend leaving it to rest for around 30 seconds. During this time, the liquid milk can sink down and the milk froth achieves a better consistency English

Take the canister (7) off the base (11) and pour milk up to the MIN marking inside the canister (7). The volume of the milk increases during the frothing process. Only pour milk up to the lower MAX marking in order to prevent the milk froth from overflowing. Place the lid (2) onto the canister (7). Place the canister (7) onto the base (11). Press the On/Off button (10) for approximately three seconds. The blue LED (8) lights up and whisk B (5) begins to turn. The process of creating milk froth begins. As soon as the milk froth is ready, the milk frother automatically switches off and the blue LED (8) goes out. You can stop the preparation process at any time by briefly pressing the On/Off button (10). Wait around 30 seconds until any remaining fluid milk settles at the bottom of the canister (7). Lift the canister (7) off the base (11), remove the lid (2) and use the milk froth as you wish. 34 7.7. Ideas for using milk froth You can use your freshly made milk froth in various beverages. We have included some recipes for you here. Viennese Blend Freshly brewed coffee Hot milk Milk froth Place the same amount of freshly brewed black coffee and hot milk into a large cup until there is about one centimetre to the rim of the cup. Pour in the freshly made milk froth. Latte Macchiato 150 ml milk for the milk froth 1 portion of espresso (25 30 ml) Use the milk to make fresh milk froth and pour the froth into a latte macchiato glass until the glass is three quarters full. Next, slowly and carefully pour the espresso into the milk froth. Those who like strong coffee can add an extra portion of espresso at this stage. Ideally, the espresso has now collected in the centre. The liquid milk is at the bottom and the top of the drink is crowned by a thick layer of froth. If there is any leftover milk froth and space in the glass, you can carefully add it to the rest of the milk froth. Carajillo A Spanish drink combining coffee with a shot 1 cup of espresso 1 cl brandy or rum 1 2 cl egg liqueur 1 heaped teaspoon of fine cane sugar Milk froth Stir the espresso with the brandy and dissolve the cane sugar in it. Put the egg liqueur into a large glass and then very slowly slide the espresso over a spoon onto the egg liqueur. This creates two layers in the glass. Fill the glass with the freshly made milk froth. Coffee with nut nougat cream 1 cup of freshly brewed coffee 2 teaspoons of nut nougat cream Milk froth Stir the nut nougat cream directly into the freshly brewed coffee, provided it is still very hot. Pour in the freshly made milk froth. If you like, you can stir some chilli powder into your coffee and sprinkle a little bit onto the milk froth. Enjoy! 32 - English

35 8. Maintenance/cleaning DANGER of electric shock Always remove the plug from the power socket before beginning to clean the base (11). Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock. Do not pour or spray any liquids onto the base (11) or immerse it into water or any other liquids. Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock and a fire hazard due to short circuits. DANGER of burn injuries Wait until the canister (7) has cooled down completely before cleaning it. Otherwise you could burn yourself. WARNING of damage to property Do not use any scratching or abrasive cleaning agents or abrasive objects (such as a metal scourer) for cleaning purposes. Otherwise the milk frother may be damaged. Do not clean the milk frother (7) and its accessories in the dishwasher, as this may cause irreparable damage. Ideally, cleaning is carried out directly after the canister (7) cools. This way, any milk residues cannot dry Simple cleaning process: Leave the whisk (4, 5) that was used in place. Fill the canister (7) with water considering the MIN and MAX markings and place the lid (2) onto it. Allow the milk frother to run for around 30 seconds. Next, rinse the canister (7) with plenty of clean water and rinse the lid (2) under running water Thorough cleaning process: Remove the power cable (12) from the power socket. Remove the whisk (4, 5) that was used. Clean the interior of the canister (7) with warm water and some washing up-liquid. Use a sponge or a soft cloth. Make sure to remove milk residue in and around the whisk drive shaft. Next, rinse the canister (7) with plenty of clean water. Remove the cover seal (3) from the lid (2) and clean the two parts in mild rinse water. Rinse with clean water, dry both parts thoroughly and position the cover seal (3) back on the lid (2). Clean whisks A and B (4, 5) in mild rinse water and rinse with clean water. Next, rinse the canister (7) with plenty of clean water and rinse the lid (2) under running water. Clean the outer surfaces, the base (11) and the power cable (12) with a soft, damp cloth, using a mild detergent for stubborn stains. Dry all of the parts thoroughly. English - 33

36 WARNING of damage to property After cleaning and before using the device again, ensure that the contact area on the underside of the canister (7) is absolutely dry and free from any detergent residue. If not, placing the canister (7) on the base (11) can cause a short circuit, which in turn will result in a defective milk frother. 9. Storing the device when not in use If the milk frother is not going to be used for a longer period of time, store it in a safe, clean and dry place. Before storing the device, clean it thoroughly as described in the previous section. 10. Troubleshooting If your milk frother does not work as usual, use the following instructions to try and solve the problem. If working through the following tips does not eliminate the fault, please contact our hotline (see the Warranty information section) The milk frother is not working The plug is not inserted. Insert the plug into the power socket. The power socket is faulty. Try the milk frother in another power socket that you know definitely works. The milk frother is not switched on. Press the On/Off button (10) to switch on the milk frother. The milk frother has overheated and the overheating protection is preventing the device from switching on. Wait until the milk frother has cooled down. Pour milk up to the MIN marking inside the milk frother The milk in the canister won t froth Check whether whisk B (5) is inserted.
