3 APPLICATION SOLENOID VALVE SOLENOID DRIVER Intrinsic Safe Connection between Solenoid Valve and Solenoid Driver 1 Intrinsic Safe Connection between Solenoid Valve and Solenoid Driver The AEXi4*6-100/T6 solenoid valve with the intrinsically safe solenoid M.Z from WANDFLUH AG ( is intended to use in hazardous areas. The following application note shows how to power the solenoid valve with an intrinsically safe isolated barrier from Pepperl+Fuchs. Due to the current requirement of the solenoid valve, the two field side outputs of the isolated barrier shall be used in parallel connection. The field side is rated then for gas group IIB. In the following sections, the connection between solenoid valve and solenoid driver is shown. T amb = 45 C + 10 C selfheating The following equation is used to calculate the maximum permissible cable length: R Lmax < (U s - U DIO ) / I min - (R i + v ) R Lmax < (22.7 V V) / 90 ma - (119 Ω Ω) This results in a cable length of approx. 380 m with 1 mm 2 copper cable. Note! The described application is approved by the solenoid manufacturer WANDFLUH AG. EN - 3

6 ANWENDUNG MANGETVENTIL VENTILSTEUERBAUSTEIN Eigensichere Zusammenschaltung von Magnetventil und Ventilsteuerbaustein 1 Eigensichere Zusammenschaltung von Magnetventil und Ventilsteuerbaustein DE Das Magnetventil AEXi4*6-100/T6 mit der eigensicheren Magnetspule M.Z der WANDFLUH AG ( soll im explosionsgefährdeten Bereich verwendet werden. Das folgende Anwendungsbeispiel zeigt, wie das Magnetventil mit einer eigensicheren Trennbarriere von Pepperl+Fuchs zusammengeschaltet wird. Aufgrund der Anforderungen des Magnetventils, sollen die beiden Ausgänge auf der Feldseite der Trennbarriere in Parallelschaltung angeschlossen werden. Die Feldseite ist dann für Gasgruppe IIB ausgelegt. In den folgenden Abschnitten ist die Zusammenschaltung von Ventil und Ventilsteuerbaustein dargestellt. 7 ANWENDUNG MANGETVENTIL VENTILSTEUERBAUSTEIN Eigensichere Zusammenschaltung von Magnetventil und Ventilsteuerbaustein 1.1 Berücksichtigung der Sicherheitsparameter Diese Anwendung ist für Gasgruppe IIB geeignet. Der schlechteste Fall wurde berücksichtigt. T amb = 45 C + 10 C Eigenerwärmung Die folgende Gleichung wird benutzt, um die maximal erlaubte Kabellänge zu berechnen: R Lmax < (U s - U DIO ) / I min - (R i + v ) R Lmax < (22,7 V - 0,7 V) / 90 ma - (119 Ω Ω) Die Kabellänge beträgt ca. 380 m bei der Verwendung von Kupferkabel mit 1mm 2 Querschnitt. Hinweis! Die beschriebene Anwendung ist durch den Hersteller des Magnetventils die WANDFLUH AG genehmigt. 3 - DE
