Interviewer: Do you have many rules in your family, Simon? Well, let me think, yeah, I have to clean my shoes every week, and I have to keep my room tidy. And I have to put out the dustbins on dustbin day. Interviewer: Do you have to help in the kitchen? I don t do any cooking because I can t cook. But it s usually my job to unload the dishwasher. Interviewer: What about watching TV? Are there any rules about that? Not really. I ve got a TV in my room and I watch what I like. But I have to switch it off at bedtime. Interviewer: Are there any rules which your parents are especially strict about? Oh, yes. When I go out, I have to tell my mum or dad or leave a note. Interviewer: When you go out, do you have to be back by a certain time? Yes, I m not allowed to stay out after seven o clock, but I am allowed to stay out longer on Saturdays. Interviewer: Do you think that your parents are strict? I think they re quite strict, but if there s a problem, they ll always listen to me. So I think my parents are okay, really. 70
