Aktualisiert am Der Wasserverbund Seeland ist besorgt über den Nitratgehalt im Grundwasser. Die Lösung: Mehr Wiesen statt Ackerbau. In vielen Gemeinden ist zu viel Nitrat im Grundwasser. Im Seeland liegt die Konzentration zwar noch im grünen Bereich. «Aber wir beobachten eine steigende Tendenz», sagt Alfred Brechbühler, Geschäftsführer des Wasserverbunds Seeland. 40 Milligramm Nitrat pro Liter ist der obere Grenzwert, zwischen 8 und 25 ist die Konzentration zurzeit im Trinkwasser des Wasserverbunds Seeland. Steige der Nitratgehalt im Grundwasser, könne man davon ausgehen, dass auch die Konzentration anderer Gifte zunehme. Der Hauptteil des Nitrats stammt aus der Landwirtschaft, sagt Brechbühler. Der Wasserverbund Seeland hat deshalb die Initiative ergriffen und 2008 die Interessengruppe Ressourcenschutz Gimmiz ins Leben gerufen. Mitglieder der Gruppe sind Fachleute aus der Landwirtschaft, dem kantonalen Gewässerschutz, Hydrogeologen und andere.
