23 XPages neue Technologie ab Domino 8.5 zur raschen Entwicklung von modernen (Web 2.0), leistungsfähigen Web Anwendungen. Durch XPages ist Lotus Domino nun auch in diesem Bereich wieder absolut konkurrenzfähig und als Web Applikationsserver (siehe auch XWork Server) ernst zu nehmen. Um Xpages entwicklen zu können ist neben Lotus Notes vor allem Web Know How notwendig (HTML, XML, Javascript) In einem visuellen Designer können fertige Komponenten (z.b. Eingabefelder, Ansichten, Tabellen...) auf die XPage gezogen (Drag & Drop) und verdrahtet werden. Eine Vielzahl von fertigen Komponenten erleichtern dem Entwickler dabei die Arbeit wesentlich und erlaubt den schnellen Bau von Prototypen. Bestehende Lotus Notes Anwendungen können mit wenig Aufwand um eine XPages / Web Version erweitert werden, ohne eine neue Datenbank erstellen zu müssen (es muss in die Quelldatenbank nicht eingegriffen werden). 23

Allows partners and ISVs to deliver their existing IBM Lotus Domino applications to new customers Delivers exceptional Work experiences Offering is based on Lotus Domino Utility Server but with license restrictions 4 applications only 4.NSFs per application Additional applications supported via additional license (up to 8 apps) Replication is restricted to other IBM XWork Servers 24

57 Die Zukunft von Mail Alle aktuell am Markt verbreiteten systeme sind von den Funktionalitäten her vergleichbar Es gibt sehr wenig Innovationen im Bereich des klassischen s Mail ist Commodity geworden Der Drang nach immer mehr Features wurde durch Smartphones und Tablets in Frage gestellt -> die Tendenz geht zu einfachen und intuitiven Interfaces Die Zukunft von Mail ist Social es werden zusätzliche Informationen (z.b. Activity Streams) neben Mail an Wichtigkeit gewinnen -> Welches wird das führende System werden? IBM wird mit Lotus Notes Mail diesen Weg verfolgen und es kontinuierlich weiterentwickeln Mit der embedded Experience in Lotus Notes Social Edition ist hier wieder ein innovativer Ansatz im Spiel 57
