General approach and framework : The general aim of the training activities of the Pestalozzi Programme is to train education professionals to become multipliers for Council of Europe standards and values in education. The work is based on three main pillars - Content : standards and principles as well as project results of the Council of Europe - Methodology : learner-centred, peer-training, collaborative work on issues of common concerns to find fit solutions for diverse contexts - Four-fold concept of competences development : developing sensitivity and awareness, knowledge and understanding, individual practice, societal practice 2. 2 10. Focus of the training activity : Die Veranstaltung widmet sich aktuellen Formen sexualisierter Gewalt in den Medien. Sie geht der Frage nach, ob es heute eine neue Dimension der medialen Präsenz von gezeigter Sexualität im (Schul-)Alltag der Heranwachsenden gibt, die zu entsprechenden pädagogischen Reaktionen herausfordert. Darüberhinaus werden rechtliche Fragen und der Jugendschutz in den Medien behandelt. Möglichkeiten einer Prävention in Schule, die in erster Linie durch die Herausbildung von Medienkompetenz bei den potenziell gefährdeten Kindern und Jugendlichen, aber auch bei den Pädagogen realisiert wird, werden aufgezeigt. Praxisbeispiele sowie Übungen und Anschauung nehmen im Kurskonzept einen großen Raum ein. Current forms of sexualized violence in the media are in the focus of this training activity. The participants are to learn more about the new dimensions in presentations by media concerning the depiction of sex and sexuality in the every day life of youngsters. They will discuss which consequences this will have for school. Furthermore the seminar will provide information about restrictions set by law, not to sell or advertise media-content to the youth, that presumably may harm the mental development of children or adolescents. The participants will discuss ways of prevention e.g. by development of computer competencies among students. Except from lecturers and discussions contents will be seen in case contexts. 11. Expected results : Die Teilnehmer vertiefen ihre Kenntnisse zum Problemfeld "Sexuelle Ausbeutung von Schülern durch die neuen Medien". Sie diskutieren Strategien für eine wirksame Abwehr der Gefahren durch Medien kennen gelernt. Die Teilnehmer erarbeiten Strategien für einen adäquaten Umgang mit Problem- und Konfliktfällen. The participants expand their knowledge and understanding for the topic of sexual exploitation of pupils by the new media. They discuss strategies for an effective defence of violence through the new media. They work out schemes for an appropriate handling of problem- or conflict situations arising from the use of the new media. 12. Outline of programme : Programme attached see below. 13. Warm up, Vorstellung der Teilnehmer und Erwartungen Formen sexualisierter Gewalt in den Medien Montag Nachmittag: Auswirkungen sexualisierter Gewalt auf die Opfer Beweg- und Hintergründe der Täter, Typisierungen Regulierung und Ko-Regulierung jugendgefährdender und entwicklungsbeeinträchtigender Inhalte Dienstag Vormittag Strategien für einen adäquaten Umgang mit Problem- und Konfliktfällen. (begleitete Erarbeitung von Lösungsansätzen zu bestimmten Themenschwerpunkten Gruppenarbeit) Dienstag Nachmittag Präsentation und Diskussion der erarbeiteten Beispiele Mittwoch Vormittag Polizeiliche und strafrechtliche Verfolgung verbotener Inhalte Prävention durch Förderung von Mediennutzungskompetenz Chancen und Gefahren durch Handynutzungsvarianten, Internet und Chat Auswertung des Kurses/Feedback Mittwoch Nachmittag Erweiterte Auswertung des Kurses mit den ausländischen Gästen und weiterer Austausch zum Thema mit Organisator des Workshops 4

5 Monday morning: Warming up/getting to know each other Forms of of sexualized violence in the media Monday afternoon: Impact of sexualized violence on the victims Motives and background concerning the offenders/typification Regualtion and co-regulation of content that will harm the mental development of children or adolescents Tuesday morning: Strategies for an effective defence of violence through the new media and schemes for an appropriate handling of problem- or conflict situations arising from the use of the new media. (work in groups) Tuesday afternoon: Presentation and discussion of the results of different groups Wednesday morning: legal persecution of forbidden contents in the media ways of prevention e.g. by development of computer literacy at school chances and risks of the use of mobiles, Internet, blogs, chatrooms, etc. Wednesday afternoon: Evaluation of the course and possibility for more exchange about the topic with organizer of the seminar 5
