Service If it is determined that the trunk lid harness is damaged beyond repair and a new harness is required, it is no longer necessary to replace a complete harness. New sectioned harnesses are available as listed below: Part No. 3D AH 3D AJ Harness Type without trunk lid closing button with trunk lid closing button Note: Part numbers listed in this bulletin are for reference only. Always check with your Parts Dept. for the latest parts information. Splice in new sectioned harness as follows: Disconnect both batteries. See Repair Manual, Battery, Starter, Generator, Cruise Control Group 27, Battery, disconnecting and connecting. Remove trunk lid trim. See Repair Manual, Body Interior, Group 70, Trunk lid trim, removing and installing. Remove rear lock carrier. Lower hat shelf. Do not completely remove. Remove trunk lid portion of wiring harness. 97-A641 Unclip wiring harness from rear shelf. 97-A642 Separate trunk lid harness from convenience control harness as follows: Remove 3 tie straps. Always follow crimping and sealing instructions outlined in VAS 1978 Wire Harness Repair Kit. Note: Review and follow Safety Precautions in VAS 1978 Instruction Manual prior to performing any wiring harness repairs. 97-A645 Wrap spliced section of wire harness together. C A646 Install wire harness in original location. Reverse remaining procedure to complete repair. Lösen Sie mit der Demontagezange die Abdeckleiste -3- im Bereich der Befestigungsklammern. Trennen Sie, bei Fahrzeugen mit elektrischer Klappenbetätigung, die Steckverbindung am Betätigungsschalter -4-. Drehen Sie die zwei Schrauben -1-, in den Griffmulden, heraus (2 Nm). Lösen Sie, mit der Demontagezange , die Verkleidung -2- im Bereich der Befestigungsklammern.

6 vw-wi://rl/v.de-de.k wi:: xml?xsl=3 Page 1 of 1 Ausbauen Schalten Sie die Zündung aus. Drehen Sie die zwei Schrauben -1- heraus (6 Nm) und entfernen Sie die Verzurröse -2-. Drehen Sie die zwei Schrauben -3- heraus (6 Nm) und entfernen Sie die Verzurröse -4-. Lösen Sie die Abdeckung im unteren Bereich -Pfeile A-. Ziehen Sie die Abdeckung nach oben vom Schloßträger herunter -Pfeile B-. Trennen Sie den Leitungsstrang von der Gepäckraumbeleuchtung.

7 vw-wi://rl/v.de-de.k wi:: xml?xsl=3 Page 1 of 1 Ausbauen Abdeckung Schloßträger, hinten, ausbauen Seite Kapitel. Ziehen Sie die seitlichen Verkleidungen -1- und -2- aus den Aufnahmen heraus. Ziehen Sie die mittlere Verkleidung, Regenrinne, -3- aus den Aufnahmen heraus.

8 vw-wi://rl/v.de-de.k wi:: xml?xsl=3 Page 1 of 2 Ausbauen Schalten Sie die Zündung aus. Drehen Sie die Schrauben -1- (9 Stück) heraus (1,5 Nm). Hinweis Es sind Schrauben unterschiedlicher Länge verbaut, achten Sie daher beim Einbau, auf den korrekten Einbauort der Schrauben. Ziehen Sie die Hutablage, Unterteil, -2- aus den Aufnahmen -Pfeil A- heraus. Trennen Sie, falls auf der Hutablage, Unterteil, Elektrik-Komponenten verbaut sind, die entsprechenden Steckverbindungen. Hinweis Um beim Einbau die korrekte Kabelstrangverlegung sicherzustellen, ist es erforderlich, die getrennten Steckverbindungen entsprechend zu kennzeichnen. Ziehen Sie die Hutablage, Unterteil, aus den Aufnahmen heraus -Pfeile-.

10 vw-wi://rl/v.de-de.k wi:: xml?xsl=3 Page 1 of 1 Ausbauen Schalten Sie die Zündung aus. Abdeckung Schloßträger, hinten, ausbauen Seite Kapitel. Verkleidungen Regenrinne ausbauen Kapitel. Staukasten, rechts, ausbauen (nur erforderlich beim Ausbau der rechten Kofferraumverkleidung) Seite Kapitel. Drehen Sie die zwei Schrauben -1- heraus (6 Nm) und entfernen Sie die Verzurröse -2-. Entfernen Sie die Stopfen -3- (7 Stück) und lösen Sie die Verkleidungen -4- im Bereich der Klammern. Trennen Sie die Leitungsstränge von der Steckdose -5- und der Gepäckraumbeleuchtung -6-.
