10 Charger for high-voltage battery in EV & PHEV Status: External charge spots not yet available on a wide scale Each power socket is a potential "filling station" High-voltage battery recharged over night or while at work Objective: "on-board" charger for global use Challenges: Mains voltages and frequencies worldwide Standards (vehicles and power grids) Efficiency, installation space, weight Service life and environmental conditions in the vehicle Use optimum charging to increase service life of high-voltage battery Standard charger for all power grids: one-phase, 3.3 kw charging capacity Bosch is developing scalable charger (3.3 3 kw, 6.66 kw, 10 kw) 10

11 Summary Bosch has integrated systems competence, and is developing all the components for electric driving, such as the electric motor, power electronics, battery (SB LiMotive), charger, and brake systems Efficiency, and how to improve it, plays a central role in the systematic optimization of the energy efficiency of hybrid and electric vehicles.
