1 Year 7 A*/A German Exam Logo 1 Kapitel 1 Week Commencing 6 th June 2016 Who? What? When? Where? Why? For Year 7 students in A*/A German classes. An exam paper testing in listening and writing skills with a translation from English into German. In a double lesson in the week beginning 6 th June German teachers will confirm the exact day with individual classes. Regular German classrooms. To give students the experience of sitting a formal German exam in 2 skills plus translation. It will also give German teachers an opportunity to assess these skills and create targets for how to develop further. How to revise for the Year 7 German Exam Listening Skills Make sure that you have a vocabulary list or record that covers each unit included in Kapitel 1. Ask someone to read out words and phrases from the vocabulary list and test yourself can you write the English? Can you write in German? Build up your personal vocabulary by learning a small number of new words every day and get someone to test you or use Quizlet. Listen to and learn the pronunciation of the German alphabet by either accessing a language website or on you tube German alphabet. Ask someone to spell words in German for you to write down and test yourself. In the exam: Take a positive approach to your listening. Concentrate on what you can understand, not on difficult words and phrases. Listen to the excerpt before attempting to answer any questions but try to make notes as you go. Writing Skills Students will be expected to write about themselves and what they have in their schoolbag based on vocabulary in Kapitel 1Logo 1. Start practising writing sentences about yourself (name, age, where you live, birthday, what you got in your schoolbag). Do a mini test practise and get someone at home to test you and write out sentences with no help! Make sure you know structures after saying: ich habe. Revise punctuation. How many of these can you use accurately?.,?! : ;. Check you know your vocabulary for Kapitel 1 to help you with the translation. To help with translation and for general revision, go back in your Logo workbook and work again through all tasks; try to translate some of the longer passages. When you translate, make sure what you have written makes sense in English. Now translate it back into German and check with your workbook.
