Deadline for the intensive programme in the academic year 2015/2016: November 15 th, 2015 Dear international students, We are pleased to invite you to participate in the new programme of Fachhochschule Stralsund - University of Applied Sciences and Technology Centre Vorpommern (TZV) called Study & CoWork i Vorpoer Studyig ad Workig suessfully i Geray. This programme focuses on helping international students prepare for employment in Germany after graduation. It aims at supporting them by offering relevant training seminars, workshops and other events such as excursions to companies, information sessions with experts and many more to lay the groundwork for a successful career in Germany. Furthermore, we will provide participants with individual counselling and within the intensive programme with coaching and contacts to local companies. For further detail please check our Website. The Intensive Programme in the Academic Year 2015/2016 Within the intensive programme participants will complete 4-5 training units on the following topics: intercultural aspects of studying, living and working in Germany, applying for and getting jobs in Germany (finding vacancies, writing an application, CV and cover letter, preparing for interviews, negotiating with employers, etc.), working in Germany (German management culture, specifics of business communication and common conventions concerning salaries, labour regulations, contracts, etc.), rhetoric and presentation skills,

2 introduction to project management strategic business networking starting up a business in Germany visa regulations after graduate in Germany, etc. Furthermore, participants of the intensive programme will find individual support by systematic counselling throughout the whole period of the programme as well as specific coaching in small groups. This will help prospective graduates find out their personal strengths and give them a professional support at defining goals and individual strategies for a successful career after graduation. For participants, who are interested in contacts to companies in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the programme can also provide mentoring, support in applying for internships and so on. Who can apply? 3 The language in the training seminars is German/English, depending on the language skills of the participants. Please, find attached the schedule for the whole academic year 2015/2016 (appendix 2). Background The catalyst for this programme was a survey among international students in Germany. Its results show that almost 80 % of them are considering staying and working in Germany after their studies, at least for a few years. However, few of them have been successful in the German job market, even though they are highly qualified. Another problem is the above-average rate of university dropouts among international students. Obstacles for starting a career in Germany are often lack of information on the job market and visa regulations, unfamiliarity with the specifics of the German job market, few contacts to companies, etc. These are exactly the issues that "Study & CoWork in Vorpommern" wants to assist international students with.
