1 Smart Backup Ntebk :: Backup & Restre Advanced Optins - Ntebk User Adding Backup Cntent By default, the cntent f the flder specified by the Administratr will get backed up. If yu want t backup files r flders ther than the flder(s) specified by the Administratr, use the fllwing steps: 2. Click Change cntent t back up t add r mdify additinal cntent t backup. 3. In the Manage Cntent dialg bx, perfrm either f the fllwing t specify the cntent: Click Brwse icn t brwse fr cntent e.g., Dcument r Music e.t.c., in Brwse dialg bx and click OK. The cntent will be displayed in the Manage Cntent dialg bx. Click Add icn t type the path in the Manage Cntent. Yu can als use the wildcard characters t specify the file r flder patterns. Fr example: C:\*.dcx C:\temp\dc* C:\temp\dc*\** The cntent will be displayed in the Manage Cntent. Default cntent set by administratr will be shwn in red highlight and can nt be edited. 2 The cntent specified fr backup will be displayed in the Cntent area. 5. Click OK. Filtering Cntents frm Backups Prir t backups, yu can set filters t prevent specific type f files frm being backed up. Filters can als be used t exclude certain system-related files and applicatin files which cnsistently fail during a backup peratin and are nt integral t the peratin f the system r applicatin. CONFIGURING EXCLUSIONS TO FILTERS Yu can set filters t prevent specific type f files frm being backed up. Fllw the steps given belw t cnfigure filters frm backups: 2. Click Change cntent t back up t add r mdify additinal cntent t backup.

3 Under Exclude these files/flders/patterns, perfrm either f the fllwing t exclude the cntent frm backups: Click Brwse icn and click file, flder, r directry that yu want t exclude frm backup peratin and click OK. The cntent will be displayed in the Manage Cntent. Click Add icn t type the path t files and flders that yu want t exclude. Yu can als use the wildcard characters t specify the file r flder patterns. Fr example: *.dcx C:\temp\dc* C:\temp\dc*\** The cntent will be displayed in the Manage Cntent. Default cntent set by administratr will be shwn in red highlight and cannt be edited. 4. The cntent specified fr exclude will be displayed in the Cntent area.

SUPPORTED WILDCARDS IN REGULAR EXPRESSIONS The fllwing wildcard characters can be autmatically detected in regular expressin when backing up r excluding the files r flders: Wildcards Descriptin * Any number f any characters. Example *.dc - any file name w ith the extensin ".dc" (e.g., status.dc, missin.dc) a*.dll - any file name that begins w ith "a" and has the extensin.dll (e.g., alsvc.dll, advdcc.dll)? Any ne character. access? - any file name that begins w ith- "access" fllw ed by any ne character (e.g., access1, access5). ** Any directry level. C:\**\mve.cpp - the file named mve.cpp lcated at any directry level under the c: drive. (e.g., c:\inf\cm\mve.cpp) C:\sys*\** - all directries starting w ith sys w ill be filtered. [ ] Any range f characters. [ei]nsure.dc - any file name that ends w ith "nsure.dc" and begins either "e" r "i". (e.g., ensure.dc, insure.dc) [a-m].dc - any file name that ends w ith ".dc" and begins w ith the letters "a" thrugh "m" inclusive. [! ] The negatin f a range f characters. [!ei]nsure.dc - any file name that ends w ith "nsure.dc", but des nt begin w ith "e" r "i". (e.g., unsure.dc) Perfrm An On-Demand Backup Use the fllwing steps t perfrm an n-demand backup: FROM BACKUP MONITOR 1. Frm the System Tray, duble-click the Backup Mnitr utility icn. 2. Click Backup Nw buttn. 3. The jb status changes t Backup in prgress n Server, Transferring Data. Yu can track the prgress f the jb frm the mnitr.

5 - 5 - FROM WEB CONSOLE 2. Click Run backup nw in the right-pane. 3. Yu can track the prgress f the jb frm the Current backup status. 4. T view the details f the current backup jb, click Shw details. 5. When the backup jb is cmplete, the Current backup status shwsbackup cmpleted successfully.

6 - 6 - Managing Jbs Jbs can be managed in a number f ways. The fllwing sectins prvide infrmatin n the different jb management ptins available: CONTROLLING JOBS The fllwing cntrls are available fr running jbs in the Jb Cntrller windw: SUSPEND Temprarily stps a jb. A suspended jb is nt terminated; it can be restarted at a later time. RESUM E Resumes a jb and returns the status t Waiting, Pending, Queued, r Running. The status depends n the availability f resurces, the state f the Operatin Windw s, r the Activity Cntrl setting.

7 SUSPENDING A JOB FROM BACKUP MONITOR 1. Frm the Backup Mnitr dialg bx, click the Stp buttn. 2. The jb status may change t Stpping.. fr a few mments while the peratin cmpletes. Once cmpleted, the jb status then changes t The backup jb has been suspended. FROM WEB CONSOLE 1. Frm the Current backup Status f the Web Cnsle, click Suspend. 2. The jb status then changes t Backup Suspended. RESUMING A JOB FROM BACKUP MONITOR 1. Frm the Backup Mnitr dialg bx, click Backup Nw buttn. 2. The jb status changes t Backup in prgress n Server, Transferring Data.

8 - 8 - FROM WEB CONSOLE 1. Frm the Current backup Status f the Web Cnsle, click Resume. 2. The jb status changes t Sending resume request... Install Updates 1. Frm the System Tray, duble-click the Backup Mnitr utility icn. 2. Frm Backup Mnitr dialg, click Install Updates link. Install Updates link will appear nly if the updates are available.

9 Yu will be prmpted with a message install update jb has been submitted. 4. The Backup Mnitr dialg will be clsed. Schedule a Backup Use the fllwing steps t schedule a backup: 2. Click the Add new schedule. 3. Frm the Add new backup schedule dialg bx that appears, select the apprpriate scheduling ptins. Fr example: Click Autmatic. Specify the number f hurs in Minimum hurs between jbs bx t start a backup jb if the belw criteria is/are satisfied. Specify the number f hurs in Maximum hurs between jbs bx t start a jb even if the belw criteria is/are nt satisfied. Set the fllwing criteria's t run an autmatic backup: Select Start nly n AC pwer t run the jb nly when the cmputer is n A/C pwer. Select Stp if battery mde begins t stp the jb if the cmputer is switched t battery mde. Select Start nly if CPU usage percentage is belw ptin and specify the number t run the jb when CPU utilizatin is belw the specified percentage. Select Start nly if free disk space percentage drps belw and specify the number t run the jb when disk space is belw the specified percentage. Click OK t save the schedule.

10 The backup jb will execute as per the schedule. 4. The newly created schedule will be displayed under Schedules as Based n autmatic schedule settings. Default autmatic schedule set by administratr will be shwn in red highlight and cannt be edited. View Backup Jb Details Use the fllwing steps t view the details f backup jb: The summary f the client cmputer will be displayed in the right-pane. 2. If any backup jbs are running, yu can track the prgress f the jb frm the Current backup

11 status. 3. T view the details f the running jb, click Shw details. 4. T view all the jbs ran n this client cmputer, click Shw all jbs r Shw recent jbs. Jbs fr <client_cmputer> dialg bx will be displayed with recent jbs. 5. Click Clse. Dwnlad a File Use the fllwing steps t dwnlad a file: The summary f the client cmputer will be displayed in the right-pane. 2. Click Select files t restre. 3. Navigate and select a file.

12 Click Dwnlad icn. 5. Specify the lcatin where the file needs t be dwnladed in the Web Brwser's dwnlad dialg bx. 6. Yu will be prmpted with a message restre jb has been submitted. Restre Data Frm a Specific Time Range Fllw the steps described belw t brwse and restre data that was backed up sme time earlier r within a specific time range: 2. Frm Change Date list select ne f the fllwing ptins: This Week Last Week Tw Weeks ag Last Mnth Custm - Fr custm perfrm the fllwing Select the time range in T list.

13 Select Frm bx and specify the time range. Click OK. 3. Navigate t the file t be restred n the right pane. 4. Click Restre icn. 5. Frm the Destinatin Cmputer list, click the name f the client cmputer. 6. By default, Restre t same flder will be selected. Clear the Restre t same flder checkbx if yu wish t restre at different lcatin. 7. Specify the path in the Specify Destinatin Path bx t change the default lcatin. 8. Click OK. 9. Yu will be prmpted with a message restre jb has been submitted. Yu can mnitr the prgress f the restre jb by clicking the <Client> in the left pane t see the status f the submitted jb. Finding Data within a Specific Flder

14 Click Find Files t restre n the right pane. 3. In Find ptins dialg bx, type the file name r flder name in thefile/pattern bx. 4. Click OK. Finding Data with a Specific Mdified Time 2. Click Find files t restre n the right pane. 3. In Find ptins dialg bx, type the file name r flder name in thefile/pattern bx. Frm the Backup Time list, select the time range (such as Latest Data, This Week, Last Week, etc.) when the files were mdified. 4. Click OK.

15 Deleting a Schedule 2. Frm the Schedules, click the schedule yu wish t delete. 3. Click Delete Schedule buttn. 4. Frm the Cnfirm Delete dialg bx, click Yes.
