7 Groundwater management programme Hessian Ried Objectives: permanent guarantee of water for population, industry and agriculture sustainable groundwater protection efficient use of existent ressources Strategy: No endangering vegetation dependend on groundwater levels Restoration of forests and wetland habitats that are already damaged due to sinking groundwater levels Avoid disadvantages for agriculture and forestry caused by extreme changes in groundwater levels No damage in buildings and installations caused by soil drop off Prevent water logging on buildings and unacceptably high groundwater levels under landfill Seite 7
