9 OpenPOWER Foundation Lösungsbeispiele OpenPOWER stellte auch neue Wege vor, wie sich POWER-basierte Technologien verwenden lassen, um geschäftskritische Big Data-, Cloud- und Anwendungsaufgaben moderner Rechenzentren zu bewältigen. Dazu gehören: Mellanox RDMA Exploitation on POWER: Mit RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) konnte eine zehnfache Durchsatz- und Latenzzeit-Verbesserung bei Key Value-Store-Anwendungen beschrieben werden. Eine LiveDemonstration wird auf der IBM Impact 2014 Global Conference in Las Vegas Nevada, vom 27. April bis zum 1. Mai durchgeführt. Diese Möglichkeiten lassen sich durch die zukünftige Nutzung von POWER8- Fähigkeiten noch weiter ausbauen. NVIDIA GPU-Beschleuniger-Integration: NVIDIA informierte über Details zur ersten Implementierung von GPUBeschleunigung bei der POWER-Technologie sowie über das erste GPU-Accelerator-Framework für Java. Eine erste achtfache Performance-Verbesserung bei Hadoop-Analytics-Anwendungen wurde erreicht. Xilinx und Altera FPGA-Beschleuniger mit CAPI-Erweiterung: IBM beschrieb zwei CAPI-(Coherent Accelerator Processor Interface-) Beschleunigerlösungen, einen memcached Key Value Store, der eine fünfunddreißigfache Verbesserung der Leistung in Bezug auf den Stromverbrauch in Kombination mit einer Latenzzeit-Verbesserung im Faktor zehn zeigte. Monte Carlo Finanzinstrument-Modelle konnten mit einer zweihundertfachen Beschleunigung unter Einsatz von Altera-FPGAs mit einer CAPI-Erweiterung beschrieben werden. Micron, Samsung Electronics und SK Hynix-Memory: Jedes dieser innovativen Unternehmen im Gebiet der Hauptspeicher unterstützt die OpenPOWER-Foundation durch die Bereitstellung von Hauptspeicher-und Speicherkomponenten für ein offenes Ökosystem.
