6 BRIEF DES PRÄSIDENTEN LETTER OF THE PRESIDENT Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, liebe Leserinnen und Leser, In einer Zeit des rückläufigen oder stagnierenden Saftkonsums, der zunehmenden Konzentration des Marktes und der gesteigerten Qualitätsansprüche der Verbraucher hatte SGF im Geschäftsjahr 2015 wieder enorme Herausforderungen zu bewältigen. Trotz relativ hoher Fluktuation konnte die Gesamtzahl der SGF Mitglieder bei etwa 600 weltweit stabilisiert und damit die Finanzierung unseres Verbandes sichergestellt werden. Neben dem Ziel, unsere Mitglieder durch unsere Services langfristig zu binden, bemühen wir uns ständig darum, im Markt präsent zu sein und neue Mitgliedsgruppen in unser freiwilliges Kontrollsystem zu integrieren, um unserem Anspruch der lückenlosen Kontrolle vom Baum bis in die Flasche gerecht zu werden. So konnten wir in 2015 erstmals ein deutsches Transportunternehmen mittels der neu entwickelten Checkliste erfolgreich auditieren und zertifizieren. Ein professionell gestalteter Imagefilm, der die Prozesse von SGF anschaulich und komprimiert darstellt und der erstmals auf der Mitgliederversammlung 2015 präsentiert wurde, soll potentielle Interessenten ansprechen und dazu anregen, sich im Detail über die Vorteile einer Mitgliedschaft bei SGF zu informieren. Mit den drei Serviceelementen Zertifizierung, Beratung und Information ist SGF für alle qualitätsbewussten Akteure im globalen Markt für Säfte auf Obst- und Gemüsebasis ein attraktiver Partner. Das herausragende Know-how der Mitarbeiter, ihre Professionalität und Flexibilität gewährleisten die stetige Anpassung und Optimierung unserer Dienstleistung. Zum Beispiel stellen wir jetzt die Ergebnisse aus den Audits online in unserem Mitgliederportal zur Verfügung, d.h. die Mitglieder haben jederzeit Zugriff auf ihre Auditchecklisten und können individuell entscheiden, sie für andere zugänglich zu machen. Das Gleiche gilt für die Ergebnisse der Analytik. Auch die Audit-App, mit deren Hilfe wir die Durchlaufzeiten von 8 Wochen auf 7 Tage reduzieren konnten, wird kontinuierlich aktualisiert. Dies ist ein Beispiel für den effektiven Einsatz der jährlichen Finanzmittel, die uns durch die Mitgliederschaft zur Verfügung gestellt werden, um den digitalen Auditprozess zu ermöglichen und weiterzuentwickeln. Zudem arbeitete SGF 2015 gezielt auf die ISO-Zertifizierung nach ISO 9001:2015 hin, wobei messbare Qualitätsziele definiert und die Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Readers, In a time of declining or stagnating juice consumption, increasing concentration of the market and growing quality demands from consumers, the business year 2015 once again presented SGF with huge challenges. Despite a relatively high fluctuation rate, the total number of SGF members has stabilised at around 600 worldwide, thus safeguarding the funding of our association. Besides looking to tie our members to us in the long term through our services, we are constantly endeavouring to maintain a market presence and to integrate new member groups in our voluntary control system in order to live up to our aspiration for a total control chain from the tree into the bottle. For the first time in 2015, we carried out successful auditing and certification of a German transport company using the new checklist. A professionally produced image film that takes an illustrative, compact look at the SGF processes and was first shown to the 2015 General Assembly aims to address potentially interested parties and encourage them to obtain detailed information about the advantages of joining SGF. The three service elements of certification, consulting and information make SGF an attractive partner for all quality-conscious players on the global market for juice based on fruit and vegetables. The outstanding know-how of our staff in addition to their professional and flexible approach ensures that the services we provide are constantly adapted and optimised. For example, audit results are now made available online in our member portal, i.e. members can access their audit checklists at any time and decide in each individual case whether to make them accessible to others. The same applies to the analysis results. The audit app that helped us reduce the lead times from 8 weeks to 7 days is also constantly updated. This is indicative of the effective use of the annual funds provided by the members in order to enable the digitised audit process and to develop it further. Furthermore, in 2015 SGF worked specifically towards the objective of ISO certification pursuant to ISO 9001:2015. This entailed defining measurable quality targets with critical querying and standardisation of internal processes and workflows to make these more effective. In the end, our members will benefit from the optimised 6

7 internen Prozesse und Arbeitsabläufe kritisch hinterfragt, standardisiert und effektiver gestaltet wurden. Unsere Mitglieder werden letztlich von dem optimierten Qualitätsmanagement profitieren, da ihre Beiträge nun noch wirkungsvoller für den SGF Kernprozess der industriellen Selbstkontrolle auf dem Fruchtsaftmarkt eingesetzt werden können. Ein weiteres großes Thema im Geschäftsjahr 2015 war für SGF International der Komplex Nachhaltigkeit, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), soziale Verantwortung der Unternehmen, der immer mehr ins Bewusstsein des Verbrauchers rückt. SGF hatte schon früh die Notwendigkeit erkannt, in diesem Bereich tätig zu werden und bereits vor einigen Jahren einen Code of Conduct entwickelt, mit dem unsere Mitglieder etablierte Standards der nachhaltigen Unternehmensführung und des ethischen Verhaltens anerkannten. Auf dieser Basis hat der europäische Fruchtsaftverband AIJN einen neuen Unternehmensführungskodex (AIJN Code of Business Conduct) der Fruchtsaftindustrie konzipiert und am 29. April 2015 verabschiedet. SGF wird diesen neuen AIJN CoBC nach und nach in die Kontrollarbeit einbinden und machte als ersten Schritt die Anerkennung der Prinzipien des AIJN CoBC durch die Mitglieder zur Voraussetzung für die Erteilung künftiger SGF-Zertifikate. Mit der Mitgliederversammlung im Oktober 2015 endete auch meine erste Amtszeit als Präsident von SGF International. Ich freue mich, dass ich drei Jahre einen so lebendigen, kompetenten, mitgliederorientierten Verband repräsentieren konnte und möchte mich besonders bei den Mitarbeitern und Vorstandskollegen für ihr außerordentliches Engagement und ihre Servicebereitschaft bedanken. Sie alle tragen wesentlich dazu bei, dass SGF schon seit über 40 Jahren erfolgreich als unabhängige Kontrollinstanz im internationalen Fruchtsaftmarkt tätig ist. Zugleich bedanke ich mich herzlich für das Vertrauen, das mir das SGF Präsidium durch meine Wiederwahl als Präsident entgegengebracht hat. Ich bin zuversichtlich, dass wir auch in Zukunft mit den Entwicklungen der Industrie Schritt halten können und allen Herausforderungen des Marktes gewachsen sein werden. Nun wünsche ich Ihnen viel Vergnügen beim Lesen dieses informativen Geschäftsberichtes. Another major issue for SGF in the 2015 business year was the whole area of sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), which is something that consumers are also increasingly aware of. SGF saw the need early on to do something in this context. A Code of Conduct was developed already a few years ago for our members to acknowledge established standards for sustainable business management and ethical conduct. On this basis, the European Fruit Juice Association AIJN drew up a new business management code (AIJN Code of Business Conduct) for the fruit juice industry which was adopted on 29 April SGF will integrate this new AIJN CoBC gradually in its control work. As a first step, the members will have to acknowledge the principles of the AIJN CoBC in order to be granted SGF certificates in future. The General Assembly in October 2015 also brought to an end my first period in office as President of SGF International. It has been my pleasure to represent such a lively, competent and member-oriented association over the last three years, and I would like to extend my special thanks to the staff and my colleagues on the Board for their extraordinary commitment and willingness to serve. They all make an essential contribution to the success of SGF over more than 40 years as an independent control body on the international fruit juice market. At the same time, I am also very grateful for the confidence that the SGF Executive Committee has placed in me by re-electing me as President. I am sure that in future too we will continue to keep pace with developments in the industry and be able to respond to all the challenges coming from the market. 12 FINANZEN FINANCES Im Geschäftsjahr 2015 hat SGF International e. V. einen Überschuss von 2.153,34 erzielt. Damit ist das Jahresergebnis trotz steigender Kosten positiv ausgefallen. 24 MITGLIEDER MEMBERS SGF International e. V. ist für Mitglieder aus allen Bereichen der Produktion und des Handels von Frucht- und Gemüsesäften, -nektaren und anderen Produkten auf Frucht- und Gemüsebasis zugänglich. Gemäß 4 der Satzung werden die Mitglieder in ordentliche, außerordentliche und fördernde Mitglieder eingeteilt. Ordentliche und außerordentliche Mitglieder nehmen am Freiwilligen Kontrollsystem (FKS) teil. SGF International e. V. accepts members from all areas involved in the production and trading of fruit and vegetable juices, nectars and other products based on fruit and vegetables. According to Section 4 of the Statutes, the members are split into the categories of ordinary, extraordinary and supporting members. Ordinary and extraordinary members take part in the Voluntary Control System (VCS). Im Jahr 2015 haben 44 neue Unternehmen die Mitgliedschaft bei der SGF beantragt. Es handelt sich sowohl um 29 Halbwarenlieferanten als auch um 1 Händler/Makler, 8 Fertigwarenhersteller, 1 Transportunternehmen, 1 angemietete Produktionsstätte und 4 Fördermitglieder. Andererseits beendeten unter anderem aufgrund von Unternehmensfusionen, Geschäftsaufgaben, Produktionsstopps oder Verkaufs der Produktionsstätte zahlreiche Unternehmen ihre Mitgliedschaft bei der SGF. Die SGF hat satzungsgemäß auch die Möglichkeit, Unternehmen gegenüber die Mitgliedschaft zu kündigen, die entweder gegen die Regeln des Kontrollsystems verstoßen oder ihren satzungsmäßigen Pflichten nicht nachkommen (z. B. Beitragszahlung). Insgesamt haben im Berichtsjahr 45 Unternehmen ihre Mitgliedschaft aus unterschiedlichen Gründen beendet. 14 davon wurden per Präsidiumsbeschluss ausgeschlossen. SGF International e. V. hat einen geringfügigen Rückgang der Mitgliederzahl zu verzeichnen. In 2015, 44 new companies applied for membership of SGF. These include 29 suppliers of semi-finished goods, 1 trader/broker, 8 manufacturer of finished goods, 1 Forwarding companies, 1 rented plant and 4 supporting members. On the other hand, a number of companies cancelled their membership with SGF due to mergers, cessation of business, stop of production or sale of production site. According to the Statutes, SGF also has the possibility of terminating the membership of companies who either break the rules of the control system or fail to fulfil their statutory obligations (e. g. contribution payments). 45 companies terminated their membership for various reasons in the year under review. 14 thereof have been excluded by the Executive Committee. SGF International faces a slight decrease of membership figures. A primary objective for SGF therefore continues to consist of canvassing new members in order to cover the fruit juice market with audits and SGF certification to the largest possible extent. 52 IRMA KOOPERATIONEN IRMA COOPERATION AGREEMENTS SGF hat seit 1996 den generellen Auftrag des European Quality Control Systems (EQCS) als zentrale Rohwarenkontrollinstitution für die europäischen Kontrollsysteme zu fungieren. Die Globalisierung des Rohwarenmarktes führt zur Notwendigkeit einer globalen Strategie der Branche zur Sicherung von Qualität und fairem Wettbewerb. SGF/IRMA bietet hier das passende Konzept. SGF hat daher Kooperationsvereinbarungen mit einer ganzen Reihe von Ländern außerhalb der EU geschlossen. Die Halbwarenlieferungen unserer Mitglieder in diese Länder werden daher ebenfalls kontrolliert. Since 1996, SGF has the general order of the European Quality Control System (EQCS) to act as the central raw material assurance institution for the European control systems. The globalisation of the raw material market leads to a need for a global industrial strategy for quality assurance and fair competition. SGF/IRMA is offering the right concept for that. SGF therefore has also entered into individual agreements with a number of individual countries outside the European Union. Hence, the semi-finished goods deliveries of our members to these countries are also controlled. 52

70 ZERTIFIZIERUNG VON TANKREINIGUNGSANLAGEN CERTIFICATION OF TANK CLEANING STATIONS Der neue Kontrollbereich umfasst die Reinigung von Tankwagen, Behältern und ausschließlich für flüssige Lebensmittel bestimmten Großbehältern (Intermediate Bulk Container = IBCs). Die Reinigungsstationen müssen eine außerordentliche SGF Mitgliedschaft beantragen, bevor der Zertifizierungsprozess eingeleitet werden kann. Die Reinigungsstationen sollten nur dann eine Zertifizierung beantragen, wenn sie folgende Anforderungen erfüllen: 1. Es muss eine vollständige HACCP-Analyse vorliegen. 2. Es muss ein geeignetes Prozessdaten-Überwachungssystem vorhanden sein. 3. Das Säubern der Tanks und Behälter von Lebensmitteln darf nur mit Trinkwasser erfolgen. 4. Die Reinigungsanlagen für Lebensmittel müssen klar von den chemischen Reinigungsanlagen getrennt sein. Sind diese Anforderungen nicht erfüllt, ist keine Zertifizierung möglich. Reinigungsstationen, die eine SGF Mitgliedschaft beantragt haben, können sich an eine von der SGF anerkannte und akkreditierte Zertifizierungsstelle wenden und ein Audit zur Überprüfung der Einhaltung der Audit-Checkliste der SGF beantragen. Daraufhin wird der Audit- und Zertifizierungsprozess eingeleitet, der von der Zertifizierungsstelle selbst überwacht wird. Hierbei können qualifizierte und geschulte externe Prüfer als Unterauftragnehmer eingesetzt werden. Die SGF wird über das Ergebnis informiert und lädt bei einem erfolgreichen Audit Prüfberichte und Zertifikat in das Mitgliederportal. Damit sind diese Informationen für alle ordentlichen (IQCS, IRMA) und außerordentlichen SGF Mitglieder (Händler, Transportunternehmen und Reinigungsstationen) sichtbar. Im Hinblick auf die Prozessdatenüberwachung akzeptieren wir zwei Arten, die wie folgt beschrieben werden können: Klassische Datenüberwachung, bei der die Daten nur an den Reinigungsstationen verfügbar sind und während des Audits geprüft werden können. Ein Datenüberwachungssystem, das mit einer Online-Plattform kombiniert ist. Diese wird entweder von der Reinigungsstation selbst (dies wird beim Audit überprüft) oder von einem unabhängigen Anbieter verwaltet. The scope is the cleaning of tank cars, containers and intermediate bulk containers (IBC s) for liquid foodstuff only. Cleaning stations must apply for SGF Extraordinary membership before the certification process can start. Cleaning stations are recommended only to apply for certification if they at least fulfil the following requirements: 1. A complete HACCP analysis must be present 2. A suitable process data monitoring system must be installed 3. The food cleaning must exclusively carried out with drinking water 4. Food cleaning bay s must be clearly separated from chemical cleaning bay s Without fulfilling these requirements certification will not be possible. Cleaning stations, when applied for SGF membership, can contact a SGF recognized and accredited certification body for carrying out an audit in order to verify compliance with the SGF audit checklist. The audit and certification process then starts and is managed by the certification body itself whereby subcontracted qualified and trained auditors can be used. SGF will be informed about the result and when successful SGF will upload audit reports and certificate to the SGF member portal. This information will then be visible for all SGF Ordinary Members (IQCS, IRMA,) and Extra-Ordinary Members (Traders, Transport companies and cleaning stations). Regarding process data monitoring we accept two types of data monitoring systems which can be described as follows: The classical data monitoring with data available only at the cleaning stations and which can be verified during the audit. A data monitoring system combined with an online platform either managed by the cleaning station itself (checked during the audit) or by an independent third party. At the moment and to our knowledge only one third party system is available. 70

Indem wir das Netzwerk der SGF zertifizierten Reinigungsstationen in Europa weiter ausbauen, können wir alle gemeinsam an eine Lieferkette hochwertiger und sicherer Lebensmittel arbeiten. 74 JUICE SAFETY KAMPAGNE 2015 JUICE SAFETY CAMPAIGN 2015 Im Rahmen der Lebensmittelsicherheits-Kampagne 2015 der SGF wurden 33 Muster Ananassaft/-konzentrat der Jahre 2014 und 2015 aus verschiedenen Herkunftsländern (Thailand, Costa Rica, Südafrika, Brasilien, China, Vietnam, Indonesien, Philippines, Panama, Honduras, Ghana und Kenia) auf Pestizide, Schwermetalle (darunter Mangan, Nickel und Chrom) und Arsen geprüft. Die Liste der ungefähr 600 Substanzen, auf die durch verschiedene Methoden analysiert wurde, beinhaltete auch diejenigen Pestizide, bei denen nach Erkenntnissen aus der FRAPP (Fruit Risk Assessment Programme for Pesticides) Datenbank eine hohe Wahrscheinlichkeit besteht, dass sie angewendet wurden. Bezüglich der Rückstände von Pflanzenschutzmitteln gemäß der EU-Verordnung Nr. 396/2005 gab es keinen Anlass zu Beanstandungen. Bei vier der 600 analysierten Substanzen wurden positive Befunde ermittelt: - In fast allen Proben war das Fungizid Phosphonsäure nachweisbar (Abbauprodukt von Fosetyl-Aluminium, welches bei Ananas eines der meist angewandten Pestizide ist). - Der Wachstumsregulator Ethephon, der bei FRAPP bei 85 % der Ananassaftproduzenten weltweit genannt wird, konnte in der Hälfte der analysierten Proben nachgewiesen werden. Dabei lag jedoch der höchste Wert bei ca. 10 % der EU-Rückstandshöchstmenge. - Das Herbizid Glyphosat wurde in zwei Proben in Spuren festgestellt. - Das Fungizid Triadimenol wurde ebenfalls in zwei Proben detektiert. Allerdings waren die in der EU zulässigen Höchstgrenzen bei keiner Probe überschritten. Interessant dabei ist, dass sich die erfassten Substanzen (mit der Ausnahme von Triadimenol) nicht in den aktuellen Pestizidscreenings befinden, sondern anhand der vorliegenden FRAPP Information in dieser Kampagne mittels individueller Methoden As part of the SGF Food Safety Campaign 2015, 33 samples of pineapple juice/-concentrate from the 2014 and 2015 harvests from various origins (Thailand, Costa Rica, South Africa, Brazil, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, Panama, Honduras, Ghana and Kenya) were tested for pesticides, heavy metals (also including manganese, nickel and chromium) and arsenic. The list of about 600 target substances for analysis by various methods also included those pesticides with a high probability of use according to findings resulting from the FRAPP (Fruit Risk Assessment Programme for Pesticides) database. No reasons for objections were found in terms of pesticide residues pursuant to EU Regulation No. 396/2005. Positive findings were obtained for four of the 600 analysed substances: - The fungicide phosphonic acid was detected in nearly all samples (decomposition product of fosetyl aluminium, one of the most frequently used pesticides for pineapples). - The growth regulator ethephone, which is named in FRAPP for 85% of pineapple juice producers worldwide, was detected in half the analysed samples. However, the maximum value was about 10% of the EU maximum residue limit. - Traces of the herbicide glyphosate were found in two samples. - The fungicide triadimenol was also detected in two samples. However, the maximum limits permitted in the EU were not exceeded in any sample. It is interesting to note that apart from triadimenol, the detected substances are not present in the current pesticide screenings but were analysed in this campaign using individual methods, on the basis of the available FRAPP information. This underlines the relevance of the FRAPP database in daily risk management. 74

Arsen und Blei wurden jeweils in 10 Proben nachgewiesen, jedoch ebenfalls weit unter den aktuellen CoP-Maximalwerten. Bei Cadmium, Eisen und Zink wurden die empfohlenen Maximalwerte auch nicht überschritten. Zinn und Quecksilber waren in keiner Probe nachweisbar. Weiterhin wurde in allen auf Schwermetalle analysierten Proben Mangan festgestellt. Die erhaltenen Werte entsprechen den bisherigen SGF-Statistiken über Ananassaft/-konzentrat (159 Werte: meistens unter 40 mg/l, mit Einzelwerten bis 62 mg/l). Nickel wurde in 16 Proben und Chrom in 5 Proben detektiert. Bei den Übergangsmetallen Mangan, Nickel und Chrom existieren in der EU momentan keine Grenzwerte. Where heavy metals are concerned, all values were below the maximum limit values of the AIJN/CoP or corresponding recommendations. Although copper was detected in nearly all samples, the values were well below the recommended maximum level of 5 mg/l stated in the AIJN/CoP. Arsenic and lead were also detected in 10 samples each, but again well below the current CoP maximum values. Nor were the recommended maximum values exceeded for cadmium, iron and zinc. Tin and mercury could not be detected in any sample. Moreover, manganese was detected in all samples analysed for heavy metals. The obtained values correspond to the previous SGF statistics for pineapple juice/-concentrate (159 values: mostly below 40 mg/l, with individual values up to 62 mg/l). Nickel was detected in 16 samples and chromium in 5 samples. The EU currently does not have any limit values for the transition metals manganese, nickel and chromium. 76 Authentizität von Orangensaft aus China Authenticity of Chinese oranges In Kooperation mit dem Citrus Research Institut in Beibei, Chongqing, China, hat SGF seit 2013 die Authentizitäts- und Safety-Kriterien von chinesischen Orangen und Orangensäften bestimmt und erfasst. Ziel des gemeinsamen Projektes war es, umfangreiche Informationen zur chemischen Zusammensetzung von chinesischen Orangensäften und -Konzentraten zu erhalten und diese mit den internationalen Erwartungen für authentische Orangensäfte zu vergleichen. Dabei sollten ggf. beobachtete Abweichungen von der allgemeinen Erwartung sachgerecht und fundiert aufgrund von SGF veranlassten Analysen dokumentiert werden. Basierend auf einem für das 3-jährige Projekt ausgearbeiteten Musterziehungsplan wurden während der Orangenverarbeitung in China (Anfang, Mitte und Ende der Saison) jeweils authentische Orangendirektsäfte sowie die dazugehörigen Konzentrate von einem durch SGF trainierten, unabhängigen Auditor direkt aus der laufenden Produktion gezogen. 8 verschiedene orangenverarbeitende Betriebe haben sich an diesem Projekt beteiligt und die erforderlichen Muster zur Verfügung gestellt. Analysiert wurden die authentischen Muster in einem von der SGF akkreditierten und in der Fruchtsaftanalytik überaus erfahrenen Kooperationslabor. Somit konnte sichergestellt werden, dass die ermittelten Kennzahlen basierend auf dem AIJN Code of Practice (CoP) für Orangensaft, einschließlich Schwermetalle und Pestizide, auch verlässlich gemessen wurden. In cooperation with the Citrus Research Institute in Beibei, Chongqing, China, since 2013 the SGF has been ascertaining and recording the authenticity and safety criteria of Chinese oranges and orange juice. The aim of the joint project was to obtain comprehensive information about the chemical composition of Chinese orange juice and concentrated orange juice for comparison with the international expectations for authentic orange juice. Any observed deviations from the general expectations were to be recorded in an appropriate, sound manner on the basis of analyses commissioned by SGF. On the basis of a sampling plan drawn up for the three-year project, samples were taken from authentic NFC orange juice and also from the corresponding concentrated juice by an independent auditor trained by the SGF during on-going production at the start, middle and end of the orange processing season in China. Up to 8 different orange processing companies took part in the project and provided the necessary samples. The authentic samples were analysed in a cooperation laboratory accredited by the SGF with plenty of experience in fruit juice analysis. This ensured reliable measurement of the KPIs based on the AIJN Code of Practice (CoP) for orange juice, also including heavy metals and pesticides. An initial evaluation shows that by and large, Chinese orange juice fulfils the criteria of the AIJN/CoP. Individual deviations result from regional conditions with plausible explanations. SGF International e. V. ist Mitglied in diesem Verband. Dem EQCS obliegt eine Koordinations- und Harmonisierungszuständigkeit, die volle Kontrollverantwortung für die Fertigwarenmärkte und Abfüller liegt bei den nationalen bzw. regionalen Kontrollsystemen, den Mitgliedern des EQCS. Als ein solches Mitglied betreibt SGF mit dem IQCS ein regionales Kontrollsystem. Im Jahr 2015 sind diesem regionalen Kontrollsystem die Länder Deutschland, Estland, Litauen, Österreich, Portugal, Ungarn und Die Niederlande angeschlossen. Darüber hinaus hat das IQCS einzelne Mitgliedsfirmen in den Ländern Finnland und der Schweiz. Alle Mitgliedsunternehmen werden gemäß den EQCS Guidelines mindestens einmal jährlich durch die SGF Auditoren auditiert. The EQCS (European Quality Control System) is the umbrella association for European market and packer controls. SGF International e. V. is a member of this association. The EQCS bears responsibility for coordination and harmonisation; full control responsibility for the finished goods markets and for bottlers and packers remains with the national or regional control systems, which are the members of the EQCS. In its role as EQCS member, SGF operates the IQCS as a regional control system. In 2015, the countries of Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, Austria, Portugal, Hungary and The Netherlands were affiliated to this regional control system. Furthermore, individual companies in Finland and Switzerland also belong to the IQCS. All member companies are audited according to the EQCS Guidelines by the SGF auditors at least once a year. 96 DIREKTSAFT-KAMPAGNE 2015 NFC JUICE-CAMPAIGN 2015 SGF führte im Jahr 2015 zum ersten Mal eine Direktsaft-Kampagne von Handelsmarken bei Säften aus Orange und Blutorange aus dem Kühlregal durch. Der Konsum von Direktsäften innerhalb der Europäischen Union wächst seit einigen Jahren kontinuierlich was unter Berücksichtigung des seit einigen Jahren anhaltenden leicht rückläufigen Konsums von Fruchtsaft einen wachsenden Marktanteil der Direktsäfte ausmacht. Diese Tatsache zum Anlass nehmend, untersuchte SGF jeweils 6 Marktmuster (Orange und Blutorange) von Handelsmarken im Lebensmitteleinzelhandel in Bezug auf Authentizitäts- und Fruchtgehaltsparameter sowie Wasserzusatz bzw. Konzentratverwendung. Bei Blutorange wurde zusätzlich das Vorhandensein von synthetischen Farbstoffen und über das Anthocyan-Spektrum ein eventueller Fremdfruchtzusatz überprüft. Erfreulicherweise konnte SGF auf Grundlage der durchgeführten Analytik keine Abweichungen feststellen. Authentizitäts- und Fruchtgehaltsparameter bewegten sich im Rahmen der normalen Schwankungen. In keinem der Muster konnte ein Wasserzusatz nachgewiesen werden. Alle untersuchten Blutorangensäfte waren innerhalb der Nachweisgrenze frei von synthetischen Farbstoffen. SGF behält dieses Marktsegment auch in Zukunft im Blick. In 2015, for the first time SGF held a campaign with private label NFC juice products (orange and blood orange juice) from the cooling shelf. Consumption of NFC juices in the European Union has been growing steadily in recent years. For some time now there has been a persistent slight decline in fruit juice consumption, so that juice NFC accounts for a growing market share. SGF took this fact to investigate 6 market samples each (orange and blood orange) of private label products in food shops with regard to authenticity and fruit content parameters together with the addition of water or use of concentrate. Blood orange juice was also examined for the presence of synthetic colour additives as well as possible addition of foreign fruit using the anthocyanin spectrum. Fortunately SGF found no deviations on the basis of the analyses that were carried out. Deviations in the authenticity and fruit content parameters remained within the framework of normal fluctuations. No addition of water was detected in any of the samples. All tested blood orange juices were free of synthetic colour additives within the detection limit. SGF will continue to keep an eye on this market segment in future. 96

102 EQCS ANALYSENKAMPAGNEN 2015 EQCS ANALYTICAL CAMPAIGN 2015 Aus Betriebs- und Marktkontrollen von SGF/IQCS stammten insgesamt 15 Ananassäfte (8 Muster aus Betriebskontrollen, 7 Muster aus Marktkontrollen) und 10 Granatapfelsäfte (1 Muster aus einer Betriebskontrolle, 9 Muster aus Marktkontrollen). Die Ergebnisse beider Analysenkampagnen spiegeln die Beobachtungen der SGF bei Fertigwarenkontrollen in den letzten Jahren wider. So konnte bei den Analysen der Ananassäfte keine Überschreitung gesetzlicher Rückstandshöchstmengen bei Pestiziden und Schwermetallen beobachtet werden. Ebenfalls positiv ist, dass bei keinem der Ananassäfte im Rahmen des durchgeführten Analysenumfanges Verfälschungen wie Zucker- oder Säurezusätze festgestellt werden konnten. Beobachtete leichte Abweichungen zum AIJN Code of Practice waren in dieser Kampagne erhöhte Natrium- und Nitratgehalte (4 Muster) und ein ungewöhnliches Zuckerprofil (Glucose und Fructose aufgrund von Saccharoseinversion leicht erhöht). Drei der analysierten Ananassäfte sind jedoch klar auffällig: bei drei Ananassäften aus Ananassaftkonzentrat war der gesetzlich vorgegebene Mindestbrixwert von 12,8 Brix deutlich unterschritten. Eine dieser Fertigwaren wies zudem einen Gehalt an 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural von 48 mg/l (gemessen via SGF-ProfilingTM) auf. 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural ist kein Verfälschungskriterium, sondern ein Indikator für eine vermeidbare Wärmebelastung im Verlaufe der Herstellung und/oder Lagerung. In sachgemäß hergestellten, gelagerten und abgefüllten Fruchtsäften ist 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural nur in Spuren nachweisbar. Aus diesem Grund stellt diese Kennzahl auch eines der A-Kriterien (unbedingt einzuhaltendes Qualitätskriterium) des AIJN Code of Practice dar. Konnten die in der Ananassaftkampagne beobachteten Abweichungen in den meisten Fällen als Produktionsmängel gewertet werden, ergab sich jedoch bei den untersuchten Granatapfelsäften Altogether 15 pineapple juices (8 samples from plant inspections, 7 samples from market controls) and 10 pomegranate juices (1 sample from a plant inspection, 9 samples from market controls). were taken from plant inspections and market controls by SGF/IQCS. The results of both analysis campaigns reflect the observations made by SGF during finished goods inspections in recent years. The statutory maximum residue levels for pesticides and heavy metals were not exceeded at all in the pineapple juice analyses. Another positive result is that no cases of adulteration such as the addition of sugar or acid were ascertained in any of the pineapple juices in the framework of the analysis scope. This campaign revealed slight deviations from the AIJN Code of Practice for sodium and nitrate levels (4 samples) as well as one unusual sugar profile (slight increase in glucose and fructose because of sucrose inversion). However, three of the analysed pineapple juices are clearly conspicuous: three pineapple juices from concentrated pineapple juice fell way below the statutory minimum Brix value of 12.8 Brix. One of these finished products also had a 5-hydroxymethylfurfural level of 48 mg/l (measured by SGF-ProfilingTM). 5-hydroxymethylfurfural is not an adulteration criterion; however, it does indicate avoidable heat load in the course of production and/or storage. In fruit juices that have been correctly made, stored and bottled, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural can only be detected in traces. As a result, this KPI also constitutes one of the A-criteria (quality criteria that must be strictly observed) of the AIJN Code of Practice. While for the most part the deviations observed in the pineapple juice campaign were seen to be production faults, the situation was different with the tested pomegranate juices. Although none of the finished goods tested here exceeded the statutory maximum 102

Zwar waren auch bei den hier untersuchten Fertigwaren keine Überschreitungen gesetzlicher Rückstandshöchstmengen bei Pestiziden und Schwermetallen zu beobachten, jedoch sind die anderen erhaltenen Analysenergebnisse als ernüchternd zu beschreiben. Nur zwei der zehn analysierten Fertigwaren konnten als nicht zu beanstanden bewertet werden. Bei zwei Mustern sind aufgrund leicht erhöhter Natriumgehalte weitere Recherchen der SGF zur Klärung nötig. Die schwerwiegenden Abweichungen bei den im Rahmen dieser EQCS-Kampagne untersuchten Granatapfelsäften bestätigen die Ergebnisse der SGF aus Vorjahren, nämlich, dass der Markt für Granatapfelsäfte durch erhebliche Authentizitäts- und Qualitätsmängel charakterisiert ist. So fanden wir hier die klassischen Verfälschungen Fremdwasser- bzw. Konzentratzusatz bei als Direktsaft deklarierten Fertigwaren (2 Muster) sowie Zuckerzusatz (1 Muster, durch zusätzliche Untersuchung des Verhältnisses stabiler Kohlenstoffisotopen 12C/13C bestätigt). 5 Muster wiesen deutlich erhöhte Gehalte an 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural auf. 2 Muster lagen in ihrem residue levels for pesticides and heavy metals, the other analysis results must be described as rather sobering. Only two of the ten analysed finished goods could be evaluated as "unobjectionable". Two samples require further clarifying research by SGF because of slightly elevated sodium levels. The serious deviations in the pomegranate juices tested in this EQCS campaign confirm the results obtained by SGF in previous years, namely that the market for pomegranate juice is characterised by considerable authenticity and quality deficiencies. Here we discovered the classic adulterations of adding foreign water or concentrate to finished goods declared as "juice NFC" (2 samples) as well as adding sugar (1 sample, confirmed by additional testing of the ratio of stable carbon isotopes 12C/13C). 5 samples revealed clearly elevated levels of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural. 2 samples exceeded the guideline for iron stated in the AIJN Code of Practice, while at the same time an aluminium level of 26.7 mg/l was also measured in one of these 2 samples. The Health Assessment No. 034/2008 dated 18 June 2008 issued by BfR (Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) comes to the conclusion that for average fruit 103

104 EQCS ANALYSENKAMPAGNEN 2015 EQCS ANALYTICAL CAMPAIGN Gehalt an Eisen oberhalb des im AIJN Code of Practice beschriebenen Richtwertes, bei einem dieser beiden Muster konnte parallel ein Aluminiumgehalt von 26,7 mg/l gemessen werden. Das BfR (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung) kommt in seiner gesundheitlichen Bewertung Nr. 034/2008 vom 18. Juni 2008 zu dem Schluss, dass für den durchschnittlichen Verzehr von Fruchtsäften ein Gehalt von 8 mg Aluminium pro Liter als wissenschaftlich begründeter Höchstgehalt insbesondere in Apfelsäften vertretbar sei. Dieser Gehalt ist hier um ein Vielfaches überschritten. 2 Fertigwaren zeigten zudem erhöhte Gehalte an Sorbit, die auf die Verwendung von schlechter Fruchtqualität oder auf die Mitverwendung sorbithaltiger Früchte wie z.b. Sauerkirsche, Apfel oder Birne hinweisen. SGF wird im Rahmen der satzungsgemäßen Aufgabe in allen Fällen von Abweichungen zunächst weiterführende Analysen und Recherchen durchführen und gegebenenfalls entsprechende Korrekturmaßnahmen ergreifen. Die Ergebnisse beider Analysenkampagnen zeigen sehr eindrücklich, dass es hinsichtlich der Pro-duktauthentizität große Unterschiede zwischen verschiedenen Handelsartikeln mit größerer Marktbedeutung wie z.b. Ananas und Handelsartikeln mit einer Nischenbedeutung wie z.b. Granatapfel gibt: Bei Produkten mit größerer Marktbedeutung beschränken sich Abweichungen von gesetzlichen bzw. industriellen Standards auf punktuelle Produktionsmängel und ggf. erntebedingte Besonderheiten. Das wird am Beispiel Ananas deutlich. Bei Nischenartikeln wie Granatapfel sind eher erhebliche Probleme zu beobachten: Neben Produktionsmängeln sind auch handfeste Produktverfälschungen wie Zuckerung und Fremdwasserzusatz festzustellen. Aus diesem Grund wird SGF/IQCS neben Produkten mit großer Marktbedeutung auch weiterhin Nischen im Fertigwarenbereich beobachten und auf ihre Authentizität und Sicherheit prüfen. juice consumption, a level of 8 mg aluminium per litre is acceptable as the scientifically justified maximum level, particularly for apple juices. On the other hand, considerable problems are observed with niche products such as "pomegran-ates". Here production faults are also accompanied by substantial product adulterations such as the addition of sugar or foreign water. SGF/IQCS will therefore continue to observe niche products as well as products with greater market significance in the finished goods segment, testing them for authenticity and safety.

Auf unauffällige Analysenbefunde folgen so genannte OK Feedbacks. Alle untersuchten Parameter entsprechen in diesen Fällen den gesetzlichen Anforderungen bzw. den bestehenden Industriestandards, wie zum Beispiel dem AIJN/Code of Practice zur Beurteilung von Frucht- und Gemüsesäften. Bei Abweichungen von der Authentizität oder bei der Deklaration mit geringer Auswirkung auf die Wettbewerbssituation erhalten die betroffenen Firmen entsprechende Hinweisschreiben mit der Bitte um Beachtung und der Aufforderung zur Korrektur. Daraus soll das Mitgliedsunternehmen entsprechende Korrekturmaßnahmen ableiten. Bei Nachkontrollen wird die Umsetzung der Korrekturvorschläge entsprechend überprüft. SGF/IQCS versandte im Jahr 2015 insgesamt 617 Feedbacks. Davon waren 556 OK-Feedbacks und 61 mit entsprechenden Korrekturhinweisen versehene Feedbacks. SGF/IRMA versandte im Jahr Feedbacks, wovon in 153 Fällen Korrekturhinweise gegeben werden mussten waren Feedbacks ohne Beanstandung. Bezüglich der Ergebnisse aus Audits nach der SGF/IRMA Audit Checkliste STANDARD werden ebenfalls Feedbacks erstellt. 326 Feedbacks konnten versandt werden. 312 Feedbacks waren Feedbacks ohne Beanstandung.... in less servere of objections Every company, whether SGF member or not, receives feedback about every analysed sample together with an evaluation and summary of the results of the chemical analysis and/or labelling check. Inconspicuous analysis findings are followed by so-called OK feedbacks. In these cases, all examined parameters comply with the statutory requirements respectively existing industrial standards, such as the AIJN/Code of Practice for the assessment of fruit and vegetable juice. In the case of nonconformities with the authenticity or labelling with minor effects on the competition situation, the affected companies receive corresponding information letters with the request to comply with the rules and correct the nonconformities. Member companies are expected to derive corresponding corrective actions accordingly. Follow-up controls then check implementation of the correction suggestions as the case may be. SGF/IQCS sent all together 617 feedbacks in 2015 of which 556 were OK feedbacks. 61 feedbacks contained respective corrective hints. In 2015 SGF/IRMA sent 1894 feedbacks, with correction instructions having to be issued in 153 cases feedbacks were sent without objections. Feedbacks were also issued on the results of the Audits on basis of the SGF/IRMA Audit checklist STANDARD. 326 feedbacks were sent. 312 feedbacks were sent without objections. 108

110 SGF/IRMA UND IQCS KORREKTURMAßNAHMEN SGF/IRMA AND IQCS CORRECTIVE MEASURES... in schwerwiegenden Beanstandungen Im Falle schwerer Abweichungen von den gesetzlichen Vorgaben oder den Industriestandards bezogen auf Authentizität, Deklaration oder Sicherheitsparameter, muss die SGF satzungsgemäß Korrekturmaßnahmen einleiten. Je nach Schwere der festgestellten Abweichungen erhalten die kontrollierten Betriebe Beanstandungsschreiben mit Korrekturmaßnahmen, wie Verpflichtungserklärungen oder strafbewehrte Unterlassungserklärungen. Der Grad der Korrekturmaßnahme wird nicht willkürlich gewählt. Der Maßnahmenkatalog der SGF orientiert sich an der EQCS Guideline für Korrekturmaßnahmen. Hierin ist detailliert festgelegt, wie die SGF im Falle von Beanstandungen vorgeht. Das Sekretariat richtet sich im Falle von Beanstandungen nach diesem Katalog. Wird eine Beanstandung ausschließlich zwischen dem betroffenen Unternehmen und dem Sekretariat abgehandelt, handelt es sich um eine so genannte interne Maßnahme. Es sind keine weiteren Beteiligten in das Verfahren involviert. Interne Maßnahmen können die Verpflichtungserklärung sowie die Unterlassungserklärung sein. Werden jedoch weitere Beteiligte von der Korrekturmaßnahme betroffen, so handelt es sich um eine externe Maßnahme. Externe Maßnahmen können z. B. sein: Gerichtsverfahren, Einbeziehung des Handels, Information an die Behörden usw. Als ultima ratio kann durch das Präsidium auch ein Ausschluss aus dem Freiwilligen Kontrollsystem beschlossen werden. Solche externen Maßnahmen greifen nur in Wiederholungsfällen oder wenn die betroffenen Betriebe nicht bei der Beseitigung der Wiederholungsgefahr bei festgestellten Mängeln kooperieren.... in cases of major objections The statutes stipulate that the SGF has to initiate corrective actions in cases of serious nonconformities in the authenticity, labelling or safety parameters concerning the legal requirements or those stipulated by the industrial standards. Depending on the severity of the ascertained nonconformities, the inspected plants receive objection letters stating corrective actions, such as obligation acknowledgements or negative covenants. The level of corrective action is not an arbitrary choice. The SGF s catalogue of action is based on the EQCS Guideline for Corrective Action. This stipulates in detail how the SGF is to proceed in cases of objections. The office proceeds according to this catalogue when objections occur. If an objection is dealt with solely between the affected company and the office, this is a so-called internal corrective action. No one else is involved in the procedure. Internal corrective actions can consist of obligation acknowledgements and negative covenants. However, if additional parties are involved in the corrective action, this is then an external corrective action. External corrective actions can include for example: court procedures, involvement of the retail trade, information to the authorities, etc. As ultima ratio, the Executive Committee can also decide to exclude the corresponding company from the Voluntary Control System. Such external actions only come into effect in cases of repetition or if the affected companies fail to cooperate in eliminating the risk of repetition after faults have been ascertained. Because of quality faults ascertained in 55 samples, SGF/IRMA and SGF/IQCS had to take internal corrective actions in Affected 110

112 MARKTKAMPAGNE ZU FRUCHT- UND GEMÜSESAFTPRODUKTEN MARKET CAMPAIGN ON FRUIT AND VEGETABLE JUICE PRODUCTS In diesem Jahr haben wir eine Marktkampagne zu Frucht- und Gemüsesaftprodukten für Kleinkinder durchgeführt. Im Fokus standen jeweils 3 Apfel- und Karottensäfte sowie eine Apfelsaftschorle. Hinsichtlich der Produktauthentizität und der getätigten Deklarationen ergeben sich im Vergleich mit Literaturwerten, unserer Datenbank authentischer Muster und dem AIJN Code of Practice keinerlei Auffälligkeiten bei den untersuchten Fertigwaren. Auch Pflanzenschutzmittelrückstände konnten im Rahmen der durchgeführten Analysen und Bestimmungsgrenzen in keinem der von uns untersuchten Produkte oberhalb der Nachweisgrenze detektiert werden. Das Mykotoxin Patulin konnte bei keinem der untersuchten Apfelsäfte oberhalb der Bestimmungsgrenze von 10 µg/l nachgewiesen werden. Zusätzlich wurde bei den Karottensäften der Parameter Benzol untersucht. Als Schadstoff gelangt Benzol hauptsächlich über Autoabgase in die Umwelt, und kann so auch als Verunreinigung im Trinkwasser und in Lebensmitteln vorkommen. Laut BfR (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung) stellt die Atemluft den größten Anteil an der Gesamtexposition von Benzol dar. Diese liegt in Abhängigkeit des Verkehrsaufkommens in ländlichen Gebieten bei 15,3 µg pro Tag, in urbanen Gebieten bei 19,7 µg und bei Passivrauch-Exposition bei 25,9 µg. Bei Karottensäften für Säuglinge und Kleinkinder kann durch eine höhere und längere Hitzeeinwirkung, welche für die Produktsicherheit notwendig ist, aus in der Karotte natürlich vorkommenden Verbindungen Benzol entstehen. Daher wird es in diesem Zusammenhang auch als sogenanntes "food-born-contaminant" bezeichnet. Bei Kleinkindern ist die Benzolaufnahme aus Karottensäften deut- This year we conducted a market campaign on fruit and vegetable juice products for small children, focusing on 3 apple juices, 3 carrot juices and 1 apple juice spritzer. In terms of product authenticity and labelling, the examined finished products do not reveal any non-conformities in comparison with literature values, our database of authentic samples and the AIJN Code of Practice. Nor were any pesticide residues found above the detection limit in any of the products that we examined in the framework of the analyses and limits of determination. None of the examined apple juices was found to contain the mycotoxin Patulin above the detection limit of 10 µg/l. In addition, the carrot juices were tested for the presence of benzene. Benzene is an environment contaminant that comes primarily from car exhaust fumes and can therefore also contaminate drinking water and food. According to the BfR (Federal Institute for Risk Assessment), the air that we breathe accounts for most exposure to benzene. Depending on traffic volumes, this can amount to 15.3 µg per day in rural areas and 19.7 µg in urban areas, as well as 25.9 µg for passive smoke exposure. It is possible for compounds occurring naturally in carrots to turn into benzene during the higher and longer heat exposure needed for product safety, so that benzene can therefore also be found in carrot juice for infants and small children. The expression "foodborn contaminant" is also used in this context. Small children absorb far less benzene from carrot juice compared to the quantity of benzene absorbed from the air that they breathe. 112

Der Gehalt ist so weit zu reduzieren, wie dies vernünftigerweise umsetzbar ist. Ein Höchstwert für Benzol in Getränken wurde bislang nicht festgelegt. Für Trinkwasser wird gemäß der Trinkwasser-Verordnung eine Konzentration von 1 µg Benzol pro Liter als Grenzwert toleriert. Der von der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) abgeleitete Richtwert ("guideline value") für Benzol in Trinkwasser beträgt 10 µg/l. Auf EU-Ebene wurde über das Vorkommen von Benzol in Erfrischungsgetränken 2006 und 2007 im Ständigen Ausschuss für die Lebensmittelkette und Tiergesundheit der EU-Kommission beraten. After assessing the monitoring data available at that point in time, the committee saw no need to derive limit values for soft drinks. 113

114 MARKTKAMPAGNE ZU FRUCHT- UND GEMÜSESAFTPRODUKTEN MARKET CAMPAIGN ON FRUIT AND VEGETABLE JUICE PRODUCTS Ausschuss hat nach Beurteilung der damaligen Monitoringdaten keine Notwendigkeit für die Ableitung von Grenzwerten für Erfrischungsgetränke gesehen. In einem der drei von uns analysierten Muster Karottensaft lag der Benzolgehalt unter dem für Trinkwasser festgesetzten Grenzwert von 1 µg/l. Hier hat der Hersteller durch die Absenkung des ph-wertes mittels Zitronensaft Einfluss auf die Produktsicherheit genommen, wodurch er seine Heißhaltezeit reduzieren konnte um die Benzolbildung zu minimieren. Bei den beiden anderen Mustern ohne Ansäuerung wurden leicht höhere Benzolgehalte nachgewiesen, die zwar über dem Grenzwert der Trinkwasser-Verordnung, jedoch unterhalb des WHO-Richtwertes lagen. Im Sinne des vorbeugenden Verbraucherschutzes muss eine Minimierung der Gehalte an Benzol vor allem bei Produkten für sensible Verbraucher wie Säuglinge und Kleinkinder Aufgabe und Anspruch der gesamten Industrie sein. Daher sind wir mit diesen Ergebnissen an die Inverkehrbringer der untersuchten Fertigwaren herangetreten. In one of the three samples that we analysed, the benzene level was below the limit value of 1 µg/l stipulated for drinking water. Here the manufacturer influenced product safety by reducing the ph level with lemon juice to decrease the heat holding time in order to minimise benzene formation. Slightly higher benzene levels were detected in the two other samples without acidification: although these exceeded the limit value of the Drinking Water Ordinance, they remained below the WHO guideline value. In the interests of preventive consumer protection, the whole industry must endeavour and aspire to minimise benzene levels particularly in products for sensitive consumers such as infants and small children. We have therefore brought these results to the attention of those responsible for placing the examined finished goods on the market. In future too, we will continue to keep an eye on benzene in carrot juice and/or fruit juice/vegetable juice products for small children, on your behalf. 116 AUTHENTIZITÄT VON KOKOSWASSER AUTHENTICITY OF COCONUT WATER In den letzten Jahren wird Kokoswasser verstärkt als Energie- oder Sportgetränk vermarktet. Besondere Eigenschaften werden dem Produkt nachgesagt: gesund, natürlich, isotonisch, reichhaltig an vielen wertvollen Nährstoffen und Mineralien, niedriger Kaloriengehalt, wenig Fett und Cholesterin, geeignet zur Prävention und Linderung vieler gesundheitlicher Probleme. Inwieweit die nachgesagten gesundheitlichen Eigenschaften wissenschaftlich geprüft und bestätigt sind, soll aber nicht Gegenstand dieser Betrachtung sein. Uns beschäftigt die Frage: Ist alles, was als Kokoswasser auf dem Markt erhältlich ist, authentisch, d.h. 100 % reines Kokoswasser? In Deutschland sind zahlreiche unterschiedliche Kokoswasser erhältlich, sowohl im Lebensmitteleinzel- wie auch via Internethandel. Aufgrund eines Hinweises an SGF über Verfälschungen von Kokoswasser in den USA durch nicht deklarierte Zusätze von Zucker wurden von SGF/IQCS 12 Marktproben im Internet- sowie im LEH eingekauft und mit folgendem Analysenumfang untersucht: Relative Dichte D20/20 Brix (Tabelle) Lösliche Trockensubstanz Glucose Fructose Saccharose Oligosaccharide Maltose/Maltotriose δ 13C Titr. The product is said to have unique qualities: healthy, natural, isotonic, full of valuable nutrients and minerals, low in calories, little fat and cholesterol, suitable for preventing and alleviating many health problems. However, this article does not intend to offer a scientific review and confirmation of the health claims. Instead, we are more concerned about whether the product available on the market as coconut water is actually authentic, i.e. 100% pure coconut water. In Germany, various different types of coconut water are available both in food stores and through the internet. Obwohl es sich bei Kokoswasser von der Marktbedeutung her um ein Nischenprodukt handelt, ist SGF aufgrund dieser Ergebnisse und der zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen zu diesem Produkt bestrebt, sich weiterhin ein Bild über die Authentizität auf dem Markt befindlicher Produkte zu verschaffen und ggf. auch hier mit den erforderlichen Korrekturmaßnahmen unfairen Wettbewerb abzustellen. The six other tested finished products give no cause for objections with regard to the analysed parameters. Although coconut water is a niche product in terms of market significance, these results and the many publications about this product prompt SGF to continue its efforts to obtain an impression of the authenticity of the products available on the market; if applicable, necessary corrective action will be introduced here too in order to remedy unfair competition. 117

120 CHEMISCH-PHYSIKALISCHE ANALYSEN VON APFELSAFT PHYSICO-CHEMICAL ANALYSES OF APPLE JUICE Wie in den vergangenen Jahren organisierte SGF auch im Jahr 2015 einen kostenlosen Laborvergleich für alle Mitgliedsunternehmen und Kooperationslabore. Die Probenmatrix, ein Apfelsaft aus Apfelsaftkonzentrat, wurde uns von einer unserer Mitgliedsfirmen zur Verfügung gestellt. Als Partner konnten wir wieder BIPEA (www. bipea.org) gewinnen, eine seit 45 Jahren bestehende, unabhängige Organisation für Laborvergleichsuntersuchungen. Insgesamt 107 Mitgliedsunternehmen und Kooperationslabore aus 23 Ländern nahmen an den Untersuchungen teil, deren Umfang sich aus den Parametern der SGF-Kurzanalyse für Apfelsaft, dem GMP-Indikator 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural, sowie den Metallen Kupfer und Eisen zusammensetzte. Eine im Vergleich zum Vorjahr um 15 % höhere Teilnehmerrate zeigt, dass unsere Mitgliedsfirmen dieses Angebot gerne nutzen. SGF wertete die in den Laboren der 107 Teilnehmer ermittelten Untersuchungsergebnisse aus und stellte sie den Teilnehmern zur Verfügung. Daneben erhielten die Teilnehmer auch eine Auswertung von BIPEA gemäß DIN ISO 13528: Statistische Verfahren für Eignungsprüfungen durch Ringversuche. Die Auswertung von SGF fußt auf den Ergebnissen ausgewählter Kooperationslaboratorien, die sehr große Erfahrung auf dem Gebiet der Fruchtsaftanalytik haben: hier wird für jeden einzelnen Analysenparameter ein wahrer Wert ermittelt. Anhand dieses Wertes und der jeweiligen Vergleichsgrenze R aus den IFU-Methoden wird eine obere und eine untere Grenze für jeden Parameter bestimmt. Innerhalb dieser Grenzen gilt der von den Laboren der Mitgliedsunternehmen und der anderen Kooperationslabore in einer Doppelbestimmung ermittelte Wert als richtig. Liegt ein Messwert außerhalb der jeweiligen Vergleichsgrenze, empfiehlt SGF die Überprüfung der Analyse. As in the previous years, once again in 2015 SGF organised a laboratory comparison free of charge for all member companies and cooperating laboratories. We were provided with the sample matrix, consisting of apple juice from concentrated apple juice, by one of our member companies. Once again, our partner was BIPEA (www. bipea.org), an independent organisation for laboratory comparison tests since 45 years. Altogether 107 member companies and cooperating laboratories from 23 countries took part in the tests which comprised the parameters of the SGF short analysis for apple juice, the GMP indicator 5-hydroxymethylfurfural and the metals copper and iron. The participation rate was about 15% higher than last year, showing that our member companies gladly use this service. SGF evaluated the test results obtained in the laboratories of the 107 participants and made them available to the participants. In addition, the participants also received a BIPEA evaluation pursuant to DIN ISO 13528: "Statistical methods for use in proficiency testing by interlaboratory comparisons". The SGF evaluation is based on the results of selected cooperating laboratories, which offer a wealth of experience in the field of fruit juice analysis; here a "true value" is ascertained for every single analysis parameter. This value is taken together with the corresponding reproducibility limit R from the IFU methods to obtain an upper and lower limit for every parameter. Within these limits, the value ascertained in duplicate determination by the laboratories of the member companies and the other cooperating laboratories is deemed to be correct. If a measured value is outside the corresponding reproducibility limit, SGF recommends that the analysis should be checked. 120

Größtenteils jedoch lagen die abgegebenen Werte erfreulicherweise innerhalb der akzeptablen Vergleichsgrenzen, was die Reproduzierbarkeit der analytischen Ergebnisse bestätigt und unseren Mitgliedern Sicherheit bei der Ausführung ihrer täglichen Arbeit gibt. Die Verschickung der Muster und die Datenverwaltung wurden vom Deutschen Referenzbüro für Lebensmittel-Ringversuche & Referenzmaterialien (DRRR) koordiniert, bei dem wir uns für die Zusammenarbeit bedanken. Die Teilnehmer erhielten verschiedene Muster zur Analyse der folgenden Parameter in einer Fruchtsaftkonzentratmatrix: Aerobe Gesamtkeimzahl (IFUMB02) Hefen (IFUMB03) Schimmelpilze (IFUMB04) Milchsäurebakterien (IFUMB05) sowie Nachweis von Alicyclobacillus sp. (IFUMB12) Last year for the first time, SGF international conducted a microbiology laboratory comparison test. The sampling sending and data management have been coordinated by the Deutsche Referenzbüro für Lebensmittel-Ringversuche & Referenzmaterialien (DRRR) to whom we thank for the co-operation. The participants got different samples to analyse the following parameters on a fruit juice concentrate matrix: Aerobic total count (IFUMB02) Yeasts (IFUMB03) Moulds (IFUMB04) Lactic acid bacteria (IFUMB05) and presence/absence of Alicyclobacillus sp. (IFUMB12) 124

125 Dieser Laborvergleichstest dient zur externen Qualitätssicherung und zeigt die Leistungen/Fähigkeiten der teilnehmenden Labors in den verschiedenen Testbereichen auf. 40 Labors aus 20 Ländern beteiligten sich und meldeten Ergebnisse. Einige Muster waren mit Alicyclobacillus sp. verunreinigt, andere mit Penicillium expansum. Mit nur wenigen Ausnahmen wurden die Ergebnisse für die Parameter Hefen und Milchsäurebakterien von den teilnehmenden Labors bestätigt. Bei den Parametern Schimmelpilze und aerobe Gesamtkeimzahl wurden verfahrens- und kulturmedienspezifische Evaluierungen angestellt. Abhängig von den verwendeten Nährmedien war eine deutliche Heterogenität der Ergebnisse zu verzeichnen, insbesondere bei den Schimmelpilzen. Mehrere Teilnehmer, die YGC- oder OSA-Medien verwendeten, erzielten Ergebnisse im erwarteten Bereich 10³ KBE/g, während andere Teilnehmer deutlich niedrigere Ergebnisse im Bereich von 10² oder noch niedriger erhielten. Derart niedrige Ergebnisse weisen auf systematische Abweichungen bei der Analyse hin (z.b. Homogenisierung oder Vorbereitung der Verdünnungsreihe). Beim Parameter aerobe Gesamtkeimzahl zeigen die Ergebnisse ein ähnliches Muster mit einer erhöhten Bandbreite der Daten, wobei weniger Teilnehmer auswertbare Ergebnisse einreichten und weniger uneinheitliche Verfahren angewendet wurden als beim Parameter Schimmelpilze. Was den Nachweis von Alicyclobacillus sp. in 3 Mustern von Fruchtsaftkonzentrat angeht, konnten die meisten der teilnehmenden Labors alle 3 Muster korrekt identifizieren. Nur 5 Teilnehmer konnten die Muster nicht korrekt identifizieren. Aufgrund der positiven Rückmeldungen der Teilnehmer wird SGF den mikrobiologischen Laborvergleichstest auch 2016 wieder anbieten. This interlaboratory comparison represents an ability test and it is used to be an external quality assurance and shows on each testing field the performance/ability of the participating laboratory. 40 participants from 20 countries participated and reported results, although not every one in all parameters. Some samples were contaminated with Alicyclobacillus sp. whereas some others were contaminated with Penicillium expansum. With only a few expections the results for the paramenters yeasts and lactobacili would be confirmed by the participating laboratories. For the moulds and aerobic total count paramenters method specific and culture media-specific evaluations were done. The heterogenity of results was very high depending on the used culture media, specially for moulds. Several participants using YGC- or OSA-media had results in the expected range of 10xp3 cfu/g whereas other participants show quite lower results in the range of 10xp2 or still lower. Such low results indicate a systematical deviation during the analysis (e.g. homogenisation or preparation of the dilution series). For the parameter aerobic total count the results show a similar pattern with increased spreading of the data situation whereby fewer participants submitted evaluable results and the method heterogeneity was lower than for the parameter moulds. As for the Alicyclobacillus sp. detection in 3 samples of fruit concentrate most of the participating laboratories were able to correctly identify all 3 samples. Only 5 participants were not able to correctly identify the samples. Due to the positive answer from the participants SGF decided to offer the microbiology interlaboratory test as well in

128 FRAPP FRAPP Im Rahmen der Food Safety Initiative FRAPP sammelt SGF seit 2005 Daten über Pflanzenschutzmittel, die während des Anbaus der in unserer Industrie verarbeiteten Früchte im Einsatz sind. Ziel ist es, proaktiv unsere Branchenprodukte zu schützen und imagebeeinträchtigende Lebensmittelskandale zu vermeiden. Außerdem soll dieser Datenpool ermöglichen, analytische Screeningmethoden zu optimieren. Halbwareneinkäufer werden so eine effizientere und kostengünstigere Qualitätskontrolle durchführen können. Sowohl das Vermeiden von Problemen durch die Anwendung kritischer Pestizide sowie die verbesserten Möglichkeiten der analytischen Kontrolle stehen auch für einen verbesserten Verbraucherschutz. Im Moment enthält die FRAPP-Datenbank ungefähr Einzeldaten, die zwischen 2010 und heute gesammelt wurden (1 Data = 1 Information über ein Pestizid/Jahr/Land/Lieferant). Diese Informationen beziehen sich auf 46 verschiedene Früchte- und Gemüsesorten und wurden von Halbwarenherstellern aus 42 Ländern weltweit geliefert. Auch in 2015 haben die Local hero Projekte in Spanien und in Polen ermöglicht, dass in diesen Ländern die Menge an FRAPP-Daten sowie die Qualität der gelieferten Daten kontinuierlich verbessert wurden. Als FRAPP-Ansprechpartner haben das spanische Labor Ecosur und das polnische Labor AGROLAB Polska mit allen SGF/IRMA-Mitgliedern vor Ort Kontakt aufgenommen und sie bei der Sammlung von Pestiziddaten unterstützt. In den letzten Jahren hat sich die FRAPP Initiative von einer reinen Unterstützung der Analysenauswahl zu einem wertvollen Service für die teilnehmenden Firmen entwickelt. Vorteile für die Mitgliedsunternehmen sind folgende: In the framework of the FRAPP Food Safety Initiative, since 2005 SGF has been collecting data about pesticides applied during production of the fruits processed in our industry. The aim is to take a proactive approach in protecting our branch products and preventing food scandals that would be detrimental to the image of the branch. In addition, this data pool should help to optimise analytical screening methods. It permits purchasers of semi-finished goods to proceed with more efficient and more cost-effective quality controls. Furthermore, both the elimination of problems resulting from the use of critical pesticides and the improved possibilities of analytical control vouch for improved consumer protection. The FRAPP database currently has 79,000 individual entries, which were collected between 2010 and today (1 entry = 1 piece of information about a pesticide/year/country/supplier). This information refers to 46 different types of fruits and vegetables and was provided by the manufacturers of semi-finished goods from 42 countries worldwide. Also in 2015 the local hero projects in Spain and in Poland have made possible that in those countries the quantity as well as the quality of the delivered data can be continuously improved. As FRAPP contacts the Spanish laboratory Ecosur and the Polish laboratory AGROLAB Polska have contacted all local SGF/IRMA members of the respective country and assisted them in collecting the pesticide documentation. In the last few years, the FRAPP initiative has developed from a pure support of the analysis selection to a valuable service for the participating companies. FRAPP confirmation On receipt of the pesticide documentation by SGF, the participant is issued a FRAPP confirmation. This document proves the participation in a proactive strategy for performing due diligence with regard to pesticide residues, the avoidance of safety risks and the commitment to consumer protection. This document is available in the member portal for every company that supplies a detailed FRAPP documentation. Consequently, the SGF/IRMA members can show their customers this document as proof of the participation in FRAPP without having to show them possibly sensitive pesticide data. 129

130 FRAPP FRAPP FRAPP Feedbacks Seit mehreren Jahren sendet SGF spezifische FRAPP-Feedbacks an jede teilnehmende Firma. Jedes FRAPP-Feedback ist ein detaillierter Extrakt aus der FRAPP-Datenbank zu einer bestimmten Kombination Frucht / Land. Damit kann jeder FRAPP-Teilnehmer seine eigenen Pestiziddaten mit den nationalen sowie globalen Statistiken der entsprechenden Fruchtart vergleichen und bequem die eigenen Daten mit den aktuellen Angaben zu den Rückstandshöchstmengen in Europa sowie über den gesetzlichen Status der angewendeten Pflanzenschutzmittel abprüfen. Diese Feedbacks können auch als fester Baustein im eigenen HACCP integriert werden und dienen der Bewertung der eigenen Lieferanten. Sie werden bei vielen Firmen schon heute als spezifische Dokumentation für Kundenaudits und als Beleg der Unterstützung eines proaktiven und nachhaltigen Food Safety Konzepts genutzt. Darüber hinaus wird sichtbar, falls in den Statistiken Substanzen benannt werden, die den europäischen Standards nicht entsprechen. In diesem Fall informiert SGF die betroffenen Mitgliedsunternehmen vertraulich, damit das Problem möglichst früh in der Produktionskette abgestellt oder überwacht werden kann. In 2015 konnten IRMA-Mitglieder aus 23 verschiedenen Ländern diesen Service nutzen: Es wurden insgesamt 170 verschiedene Extrakte der FRAPP-Datenbank verschickt. 33 verschiedene Fruchtund Gemüsesorten waren vertreten: FRAPP feedbacks Since several years, each participating company receives a specific FRAPP feedback from the SGF. Each FRAPP feedback is a detailed extract from the FRAPP database on a certain combination of fruit/ country. This enables all FRAPP participants to compare their own pesticide data with the national and global statistics for the corresponding varieties of fruit. It is now easy for them to check their own data with the current details about maximum residue quantities in Europe and with the legal status of the pesticides being used. This feedback can also be integrated as an established component in the company s own HACCP for appraisal of the corresponding suppliers. Today already, it is used in many companies as specific documentation for customer audits and as verification of a proactive, sustainable food safety concept. This process also makes it transparent whether substances appear in the statistics that do not comply with the European standards. In this case, SGF informs the affected member companies in a confidential manner so that the problem can be eliminated as early as possible in the production chain or monitored accordingly. In 2015, IRMA members from 23 different countries were able to use this service: A total of 170 extracts of the FRAPP database were sent to IRMA members. 33 different types of fruits and vegetables were represented. 130

132 FRAPP FRAPP FRAPP Early Information System Seit 2011 profitieren aktive FRAPP-Teilnehmer von dem FRAPP Early Information System. Alle Dokumente über vorgeschlagene Änderungen von Rückstandshöchstmengen werden von SGF/FRAPP monatlich und systematisch mit den Einträgen in der FRAPP-Datenbank abgeglichen. Es wird dann jede Firma individuell informiert, sofern diese Angaben zu einem durch eine eventuelle MRL-Senkung betroffenen Pestizid gemacht hat. Da dies in einer sehr frühen und vorbereitenden Phase der Gesetzgebung stattfindet, erhalten FRAPP-Teilnehmer die Möglichkeit, die Situation in ihrer Firma im Voraus zu prüfen und ggf. proaktive Maßnahmen zu ergreifen. In 2015 wurden 83 Dokumente mit MRL-Änderungen geprüft. Dabei waren 15 Substanzen, die in FRAPP genannt wurden, von möglichen MRL-Herabsetzungen betroffen. Insgesamt konnten im letzten Jahr 50 FRAPP-Teilnehmer aus 19 verschiedenen Ländern diesen Service nutzen und hatten somit die Möglichkeit, proaktiv passende Maßnahmen zu treffen. SGF/FRAPP hofft damit insbesondere die Belange der verarbeitenden Industrie gegenüber dem Frischfruchtmarkt stärken zu können, z. B. durch eine veränderte Grenzwert-Festlegung aufgrund spezifischer landwirtschaftlicher Techniken oder durch geeignete Übergangsfristen für Säfte und Pürees, da diese eine längere Lebensdauer als Frischfrüchte haben. FRAPP Early Information System Since 2011, active participants have been able to use the FRAPP Early Information System. The SGF/FRAPP proceeds monthly and systematically in comparing all documents about suggested changes to maximum residue levels with the entries in the FRAPP database. Every company then receives individual information if it has submitted details about a pesticide affected by a possible MRL (Maximum Residue Level) reduction. As this takes place in a very early, preparatory phase of the legislation process, FRAPP participants have the chance of checking the situation in their company in advance so that they can take proactive measures if necessary. In 2015, 83 documents referring to MRL changes were checked. 15 substances listed in FRAPP were affected by possible MRL reductions. In total 50 FRAPP participants from 19 different countries could use this service last year and were therefore able to take necessary actions proactively. In this way, the SGF/FRAPP hopes in particular to reinforce the concerns of the processing industry towards the fresh fruit market, e.g. with changed limit value stipulations as a result of specific agricultural techniques or with suitable transition periods for juice and puree, as these have a longer lifecycle than fresh fruit. 132

Die Analysenwerte zu diesen Mustern werden in einer Datenbank gesammelt und stehen dort den SGF Mitgliedern und IRMA Kooperationspartnern zur Verfügung. Die SGF verfügt damit über die größte Datenbank authentischer Fruchtsaftmuster weltweit. Im geschützten Mitgliederbereich der SGF-Webseite können die authentischen, regionalspezifischen Daten folgender Früchte abgerufen und mit den eigenen Werten verglichen werden: During plant inspections in the companies of those participating in the SGF's voluntary control system, up to ten so-called authentic samples are regularly taken directly from the on-going production of a processing company. 144 QUALITHAI QUALITHAI SGF hat das Projekt zur Verbesserung der Produktsicherheit und -qualität für die thailändische Fruchtsaftindustrie (QUALITHAI) erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Projektpartner der SGF war die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Der Abschluss-Workshop in Bangkok Anfang März, verbunden mit der SGF/IRMA Konferenz Thailand und Far East, war mit rund 50 Teilnehmern gut besucht und markiert den Schlusspunkt des Projektes. Ziel des Projektes war die Aufnahme von neuen thailändischen Fruchtverarbeitern ins Freiwillige Kontrollsystem der SGF. Lokale Laboratorien und Auditoren sollten rekrutiert werden, um die Audits vor Ort eigenständig und nachhaltig durchzuführen. Ebenfalls sollten geeignete und den Anforderungen der SGF entsprechend qualifizierte Laboratorien innerhalb des Projektes für die Fruchtsaftanalytik gewonnen werden. Wenn auch nicht alle gesetzten Ziele vollumfänglich umgesetzt werden konnten, so sind doch wichtige Ergebnisse erzielt worden. Es konnten unter anderem 5 neue SGF/IRMA Mitglieder gewonnen werden, die in der Teilnahme am Freiwilligen Kontrollsystem der SGF einen wichtigen Baustein für ein erfolgreiches Exportgeschäft sehen. Ferner konnte die Projektmanagerin zur Auditorin ausgebildet werden und hat sich damit für künftige Audits in Thailand und Fernost qualifiziert. Des Weiteren wurde ein FRAPP Online Tool entwickelt, das die Verwaltung und Nutzung der Pestiziddaten wesentlich erleichtert und mit dem nach Eingabe der Daten direkt ein Benchmarking erfolgen kann. SGF has meanwhile successfully concluded the project to improve product safety and quality for the fruit juice industry in Thailand (QUALITHAI). The project partners were the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and SGF. The Final Workshop in Bangkok at the start of March, combined with the SGF/ IRMA Conference Thailand and Far East, was well attended with around 50 participants and brought the project to a close. The project aimed to get new Thai fruit processing companies involved in the Voluntary Control System of the SGF. Local laboratories and auditors were to be recruited to conduct the audits on site on a self-sufficient, sustainable basis. The intention was also to acquire suitable laboratories qualified according to the SGF's requirements for fruit juice analysis within the project. Although it was not possible to implement all the objectives to the full extent, even so important results have been obtained. Among others, 5 new SGF/IRMA members were acquired who see participation in the Voluntary Control System of SGF as an important element in successful export business. Furthermore, the project manager has been trained as an auditor so that she is now qualified to carry out future audits in Thailand and the Far East. Moreover, a FRAPP online tool has been developed to make it much easier to enter the pesticide data, and for benchmarking immediately after the data have been entered. Discussions are currently in progress on a follow-up project as the GIZ and SGF intend to continue their cooperation. 148 AUSBLICK PERSPECTIVE Fluktuation unseres Mitgliederbestandes aufgrund verschiedener Einflussfaktoren ist weiterhin ein beherrschendes Thema für uns: In den meisten Fällen sind die Gründe für eine Beendigung der Mitgliedschaft Geschäftsaufgaben oder Fusionen. Das erschwert unsere Finanzplanung natürlich immens. Aus diesem Grund suchen wir immer weiter nach neuen Geschäftsfeldern, die unseren Finanzbedarf sicherstellen. So wollen wir unser Kontrollsystem weiterhin Nachbarindustrien (wie z.b. der fruchtzubereitenden Industrie) anbieten, da diese Unternehmen ebenso wie unsere Fruchtsaftabfüller ein Interesse an sicherer, authentischer Halbware haben. Ein ganz wesentlicher Schritt für unseren Verband wird im kommenden Jahr die angestrebte Zertifizierung nach ISO 9001:2015 sein. Wir haben in den vergangenen Jahren viel Zeit in die Restrukturierung unserer Prozesse und in die Dokumentation unserer Arbeitsabläufe investiert und erwarten einen großen Schritt vorwärts in Bezug auf kontinuierliche Verbesserung unserer Performance zum Wohl unserer Mitglieder. Gerne nehmen wir hierzu auch immer Hinweise aus dem Kreis der Mitglieder an. Membership fluctuation as a result of various factors continues to be one of our key issues. For the most part, the reasons consist of business closures or mergers. This is naturally a huge problem for our financial planning. We are therefore still constantly looking for new lines of business to safeguard our financial needs. For example, we want to continue offering the use of our control system to adjoining industries (such as the fruit processing industry), as they are just as interested as our fruit juice bottlers and packers in having, safe, authentic semi-finished goods. One major step for our association over the next twelve months will be the intended certification to ISO 9001:2015. In recent years, we have invested lots of time in restructuring our processes and in documenting our workflows and expect to take a large step forwards in terms of constantly improving our performance for the sake of our members. We are also always glad to take up information provided by our members. 148

149 Das Setzen von Qualitätszielen und das Arbeiten entlang von definierten Prozessen und Arbeitsabläufen erleichtert aber auch die Einarbeitung neuer Kollegen. Dies ist zunehmend wichtig für die Beständigkeit der hohen Servicequalität, da wir derzeit einen Generationenwechsel mit unseren Kollegen in der Geschäftsstelle vollziehen. Auch im kommenden Jahr werden wir versuchen, für einen Teil unserer Forschungstätigkeiten und Projekte Fördermittel von öffentlichen Stellen zu erhalten. Dies wollen wir sowohl auf nationaler Ebene in Deutschland als auch auf EU Ebene angehen. Um unsere Leistungen den Anforderungen der Industrie anzupassen, beabsichtigen wir im kommenden Jahr, eine große Umfrage zur Mitgliederzufriedenheit zu starten. Hiervon erhoffen wir uns viele Hinweise darauf, was wir an unseren Services verbessern können und ob wir mit unserem Kontrollsystem die Erwartungen unserer Mitglieder erfüllen. Ich möchte mich bei den Damen und Herren der SGF-Vorstände und nicht zuletzt bei meinen überaus engagierten Kollegen in der Geschäftsstelle für die vertrauensvolle Zusammenarbeit im letzten Jahr bedanken und sehe weiteren spannenden und hoffentlich ebenso erfolgreichen Jahren mit Freude entgegen. Setting quality targets and working according to defined processes and workflows also helps with the familiarisation phase for new colleagues. This is increasingly important when it comes to maintaining a constantly high standard of service quality, given the current change of generation in the office staff. Next year too we will endeavour to obtain public funding for some of our research activities and projects on a national level here in Germany and also in the EU. We intend to start a major survey on member satisfaction next year in order to bring our services in line with industry requirements. We hope that this will provide us with lots of information about how we can improve our services and whether our control system fulfils the expectations of our members.
