GÄF MEYE AGS 60849 Central unit in accordance with DIN EN60849 (VDE 0828) The purpose of the microprocessor-controlled central unit AGS 60849 is to monitor safety-relevant functions of voice alarm systems (VAS) or warning systems (electro-acoustic systems) in accordance with DIN EN 60849 (VDE 0828). It allows to initiate stored emergency announcements to broadcast information in unforeseeable situations to protect lives. Furthermore, it serves to monitor safety-relevant functions of electro-acoustic systems. For this purpose the central unit is connected in between the electro-acoustic preamplifier (if present) and the power amplifier. As the warning messages are broadcasted by the AGS 60849 in a hazardous situation, the preamplifiers and the connected system microphones are not necessarily required to be in accordance with DIN EN 60849 (VDE 0828). For this reason, the system is particularly suitable for retrofitting existing electro-acoustic control centres as well as for new installations. In an initial run, all connected components are detected and displayed consecutively in plain text on the LCD display. After the completion of this test, the functions of these components are continuously checked,as there are for example, the connection lines of 4 emergency MCPs (manual call point); the emergency system microphones (AGS SYS FH/ FT) are monitored for any broken wires and short circuits, as is the impedance of the emergency system microphones. In addition, the central unit AGS 60849 communicates through the emergency switchover unit AHM 60849 with up to 6 connected power amplifiers and switches to the emergency amplifier in case of an amplifier failure. Up to another 6 amplifiers can be monitored additionally with the extension module AGS 60849/K. Measurement of the speaker line monitoring system, for example by LINEGUAD Basic, can also be initiated by means of theahm 60849 to verify whether a suspected fault in the power amplifier could possibly be caused by a short circuit in the loudspeaker line. If an external MCP (manual call point) or a Fire Brigade system microphone is activated, the central unit will immediately disable the normal program send out (background music; advertisement) and one of the 4 available attention-raising signals (i.e. jingle, siren, gong) will sound. Subsequently the AGS 60849 will send one of 4 preproduced emergency announcements ( Fire DIN, Evacuation DIN, Escape DIN, Evacuation Text). The audio routing of all these audible signals, emergency announcement and all other functions can be freely programmed via the control keys on the front panel. TheAGS 60849 system has been designed to be a practical system for the needs of public spaces in which there are large numbers of people at different times, who may have to be evacuated, such as shopping centres, administrative buildings, industrial facilities, railway stations, airports, schools and hotels.

GÄF MEYE AGS60849/K Extension Module in accordance with DIN EN60849 (VDE 0828) The microprocessor-controlled extension module AGS 60845/K can be used autonomously or connected to the central unit AGS 60849. It enables the monitoring of up to 6 amplifiers. In addition, 4 inputs and outputs are available. The device is connected in between the electro-acoustic preamplifier (if present) and the power amplifier. If it is connected to the central unit the inputs are deactivated in a hazardous situation and the emergency announcements are routed to the outputs. Therefore, the preamplifiers present and the system microphones and additional programme sources connected to them are not necessarily required to be in accordance with DIN EN 60849 (VDE 0828). For this reason, the device is particularly suitable for retrofitting existing electro-acoustic control centres as well as for new installations. In an initial run, all connected amplifiers are detected. After the completion of this test, the functioning of these amplifiers is continuously checked. If a malfunction occurs, the corresponding red LED of the affected power amplifier will light up. Also, the malfunction LED will flash. If the central unit AGS 60849 is connected, the malfunction.-signal will be additionally transmitted to the AGS 60849 and shown on its display. The extension module AGS 60849/K can be connected to the emergency switchover unit AHM 60849 to switch loudspeakers from a defective amplifier over to a spare amplifier. Measurement of the loudspeaker line monitoring system, for example with LINEGUAD Basic, can also be initiated by means of the AHM 60849 to verify whether the suspected fault in the power amplifier could possibly be caused by a short circuit in the loudspeaker line. The extension module AGS 60849/K monitors its own functioning with a watchdog circuit.
GÄF MEYE AHM60849 Emergency Switchover Unit in accordance with DIN EN60849 (VDE 0828) Emergency announcements must be heard in all areas. Loudspeakers connected to a defective amplifier must therefore be switched automatically to a spare amplifier. For this purpose the emergency switchover unit AHM 60849 is connected to the central unit AGS 60849 or the extension module AGS 60849/K; it is able to switch over from up to 6 amplifiers to one or more spare amplifiers. The signal relays can also be connected to the measurement request input of the loudspeaker line monitoring system, e.g. with the LINEGUAD Basic. At the same time the LINEGUAD starts a measurement. LINEGUAD verifies whether a possible short circuit exists on the loudspeaker lines and whether the amplifier was therefore indicated as malfunctioning. In this is case, LINEGUAD will disconnect the affected line, the central unit will reset the AHM 60849 and the lines identified as operational will be routed to the standard amplifier. If the central unit AGS 60849 identifies an amplifier as defective, the AHM 60849 will switch the affected loudspeaker line to a spare amplifier.
