Komplettiert wird das Team durch international reputierte Gastprofessoren sowie Lehrbeauftragte aus der Management-Praxis. Daneben unterstützen studentische Hilfskräfte die Institutsarbeit. Prof. Dr. Thomas Hess leads the team of the Institute for Information Systems and New Media at Ludwig-Maximilians- Universität München. The team consists of about ten scientific/teaching assistants and Hannelore Wimmer who is in charge of administration. The Institute is complemented by visiting professors and researchers with international reputation as well as lecturers from the industry. A number of student assistants support our work.

3 Über uns About Us 8 Das Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik und Neue Medien (WIM) versteht sich als Forschungs- und Lehrzentrum der Wirtschaftsinformatik und angrenzender Gebiete der klassischen Betriebswirtschaftslehre. Inhaltlich konzentrieren wir uns auf Digitalisierungsstrategien, d. h. auf unternehmerische Antworten auf die Möglichkeiten und Herausforderungen durch neue Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien. Als Teil der Fakultät für Betriebswirtschaft an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München tragen wir durch unser Forschungs- und Lehrprogramm zum Schwerpunkt Information & Innovation bei. Das Institut engagiert sich im Zentrum für Internetforschung und Medienintegration (ZIM), dem Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) und ist Teil der Software Economics Group (SEG). The mission of the Insitute for Information Systems and New Media (WIM) is to pool management and computer science skills with the goal to contribute to the scientific body of knowledge as well as to a solution space in practice. We aim at generating research based answers to the oppurtunities and challenges resulting from new information and communication technologies. Within the Munich School of Management WIM s research and teaching curriculum contributes to the the field of Information & Innovation. We engage in various projects and activities such as the Center for Internet Studies and Media Integration (CIM), the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) and the Software Economics Group (SEG).

4 Forschung Research 8 Auf unsere langfristigen Forschungsziele der Erklärung und Gestaltung von Digitalisierungsstrategien ausgerichtet, arbeiten wir momentan in drei Bereichen. Innerhalb des Schwerpunkts Digital Media Management erforschen wir z. B. Trends und Geschäftsmodelle des Web 2.0, Modelle der Superdistribution, Möglichkeiten der Content-Mehrfachverwertung in Produktion und Distribution sowie User Generated Content. Im Bereich Software Economics fokussieren wir auf Geschäftsmodelle und Wertschöpfungsketten von Softwareanbietern, Software as a Service und Open Source. Unter New Management Systems subsumieren wir unsere Forschungstätigkeiten hinsichtlich IT-basierten Controllingsystemen und Unternehmensnetzwerken. Wir bedienen uns ökonomischer Frameworks und einem breiten Portfolio vorwiegend empirischer sowohl qualitativer als auch quantitativer Forschungsmethoden. Within Digital Media Management we are currently investigating web 2.0 trends and sustainable business models, models of superdistribution, reuse of content in production and distribution as well as user generated content. Within Software Economics our interest lies with value chains in the software industry, Software as a Service and Open Source Software. New Management Systems New Management Systems Controlling Systems, Data Warehouses, Data Mining, Business Intelligence, Cooperation and Business Networks at WIM stands for IT-based Controlling Systems, Cooperation and Business Networks. The foundation of our research is made of economic frameworks and a large portfolio of mostly empirical quantitative as well as qualitative methods. Our benchmark is international standards in Information Systems Research.

5 Lehre Teaching 8 Wir bieten vielfältige Lehrveranstaltungen in drei Bereichen an. Zum Umfang unseres Angebots für Bachelor-Studenten zählen eine Grundlagenveranstaltung zur Wirtschaftsinformatik, eine Veranstaltung zur Organisationsökonomie sowie eine ganze Reihe weiterer Veranstaltungen aus unserem Schwerpunkt Neue Medien. Für Studenten mit absolviertem Bachelorabschluss bieten wir Kurse im Rahmen des Master of Science in Management und in fünf spezialisierten Masterstudiengängen, wie z. B. dem European Master oder dem Insurance Master an. We offer a large variety of courses in three different fields. As part of our undergraduate curriculum we offer an introductory course in Information Systems and one in New Organizational Forms. Also, students can choose our sub-specialization New Media Management which includes a number of related courses. On the graduate level we offer courses within the LMU Master of Science in Management and within a number of specialized Masters Programs such as the European Master or the Insurance Master.
