Objectives and Main Areas of Work Objectives Testing, demonstration and transfer of applicability of conventional and innovative technologies and methods to process woody wastes and residues Production of raw materials and resources for utilization as material and energy Determine and evaluate best practices and technologies in the field to develop economically and ecologically efficient material flows Target areas Forestry Landscape conservation Agriculture
Project Organization Project work packages are oriented toward the biomass value chain Elements are analyzed separately, yet integrated in an overall concept Technologies, prototypes and processes are tested in their respective positions in chain Regional best practices are developed throughout the entire chain, thus incorporating interrelationships
Project Design The project concept involves Field tests and analysis with a demonstration character Integrated field tests for forestry, agriculture and landscape conservation incorporating all aspects of the value chain Harvesting technology and processes Storage methods and influences on assortment quality Transport technology and logistics concept for biomass Methods of material and energy recovery Integrated prototypes Slow Chipper and Qualification Concept for Disadvantaged Individuals (Harvesting) LNP Marking and Logistics Concept (Logistics) Wood Waste Biomass in MDF Board Production (Utilization)
Anticipated Results Transparent presentation of novel, innovative and sustainable methods to process, supply and utilize forestry, agricultural and landscape conservation wastes and residues Presentation of realistic opportunities and best practices to develop unutilized biomass residues as a raw material Diversification of the raw material base for users by preparing woody wastes and residues according to quality requirements Determination of ecological and economic best practices in the overall context of the supply process (harvest, storage, transport) to eliminate technical and economic barriers
