5 Grusswort des Präsidenten der swiss orthopaedics Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen Vom 28. bis 30. Juni 2017 findet in St.Gallen der 77. Jahreskongress der swiss orthopaedics statt. Das Organisationskomitee, die wissenschaftliche Kommission und unsere Gesellschaft arbeiten mit vereinten Kräften daran, dass dieser Kongress allen Teilnehmern im Gedächtnis bleiben wird. Wann ist eine Operation nötig, wann ist sie unnötig? Wird zu schnell operiert? Wird zuviel operiert? Was ist Qualität in der Chirurgie? Das sind Fragen, die aktuell vermehrt im Fokus von Medien und Politik sind und leider oft nicht sachgemäss und meist polemisierend öffentlich diskutiert werden. Swiss orthopaedics setzt sich schon lange differenziert mit diesen Fragen auseinander. Dies zeigt besonders die Auswahl unserer Hauptthemen, die notabene bereits vor mehreren Jahren festgelegt wurden. «Hot topics in indications to surgery» lautet das diesjährige Hauptthema I. Geht es hier nicht gerade um die Beantwortung der oben gestellten Fragen? Die Professoren C. Gerber und D. Hannouche und deren eingeladenen Referenten werden sicher einige evidenzbasierte Antworten liefern können. Im Rahmen des zweiten Hauptthemas werden wir «Prosthetic surgery for patients younger than 50» behandeln. Hier werden sich die beiden Verantwortlichen PD P. Koch und Professor M. Beck und die eingeladenen Referenten mit der Frage auseinander setzen, wann der richtige Zeitpunkt für eine Prothese gekommen ist und was von einer in jungen Jahren implantierten Prothese im Langzeitverlauf zu erwarten ist. Zudem bietet auch dieser Jahreskongress der swiss orthopaedics mit seinen zahlreichen Vorträgen, freien Mitteilungen und nicht zuletzt den Symposien und Präsentationen in Zusammenarbeit mit unseren Partnern aus der Industrie wieder exzellente Fort- und Weiterbildungsmöglichkeiten. Qualität, Fortschritt und Innovation zugunsten des Patienten dies ist das Leitbild der Orthopädie und Traumatologie in der Schweiz. 7 Bienvenue du Président de swiss orthopaedics Chères et chers collègues, Le 77ème congrès annuel de swiss orthopaedics se tiendra à St-Gall du 28 au 30 juin Le comité d organisation, le comité scientifique et notre société ont réuni leurs efforts pour que cet événement restera gravé dans les mémoires. Quand est-ce qu une opération est utile, quand inutile? Est-ce qu on opère trop vite? Est-ce qu on opère trop? Que signifie la qualité dans la chirurgie? Celles-ci sont des questions sur lesquelles l accent est mis dans les médias et en face de la politique qui sont malheureusement souvent discuté en public dans un sens inadéquat et polémique. Swiss orthopaedics depuis longtemps se penche sur ces questions. Vous le constatez notamment dans les thèmes principaux qui ont été choisis il y a déjà quelques ans. «Hot topics in indications to surgery» est le thème principal I. Ceci traitera exactement les questions posées au-dessus. Les professeurs C. Gerber et D. Hannouche et leurs orateurs invités seront certainement capable de fournir quelques réponses fondées sur des preuves. Dans le cadre du deuxième thème principal nous traiterons «Prosthetic surgery for patients younger than 50». Les deux responsables PD P. Koch et professeur M. Beck avec leurs orateurs invités discuterons la question du moment opportun pour une prothèse et les attentes à long terme d une prothèse implantée dans le jeune âge. Le congrès annuel de swiss orthopaedics apportera également un enseignement postgradué et continue de grande valeur, en particulier par le biais de conférences d enseignement, de communications libres et sans oublier les symposiums et présentations en collaboration avec nos partenaires industriels. Qualité, progrès, innovations au bénéfice des patients, constituent des valeurs auxquelles l orthopédietraumatologie Suisse reste très attachée. 9 Grusswort des Ortspräsidenten Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen Nach einem Jahreskongress 2016 mit internationaler Einbindung und Grösse freuen wir uns, Sie 2017 in St.Gallen zu begrüssen. Man könnte sagen zurück in die Provinz, vielleicht aber liegt gerade in der Einfachheit die Essenz? Finden Sie es heraus! Viele orthopädische Grössen haben die Entwicklung der Orthopädie von St.Gallen aus geprägt, seien dies M. E. Müller, B. G. Weber, F. Magerl oder A. Gächter, eine medizinisch prägende Vergangenheit, der auch eine ausgesprochen interessante historische und städtebauliche Geschichte gegenüber gestellt werden darf. Das Klosterviertel mit der zum Weltkulturerbe gehörenden Stiftsbibliothek, die vielen Jugendstilund Riegelbauten der intakten Altstadt, die naturbelassene Umgebung machen das Entdecken dieser Stadt zu einem Erlebnis. St.Gallen ist aber keineswegs in der Vergangenheit stehen geblieben. Nach wie vor zählt die Klinik für Orthopädische Chirurgie und Traumatologie des Bewegungsapparates am Kantonsspital zu den Grössten der Schweiz, ergänzt wird das orthopädische Angebot durch etablierte niedergelassene Kollegen in modernen Kliniken. Wissenschaftlich ist St.Gallen aber auch durch die Uni St.Gallen in den Bereichen Wirtschaft und Recht längst auf internationalem Parkett renommiertest vertreten, plant nun auch, eine Ausbildung zum Medical Master aufzubauen. Von nationaler Bedeutung ist sicherlich auch das Bundesverwaltungsgericht, ein moderner Bau der Architekten Staufer&Hasler. Die übersichtliche Grösse, die persönliche Note und die offene Art der Bewohner wird es Ihnen leicht machen, sich in St.Gallen mindestens für einen Moment mal vom Drang nach mehr der modernen Gesellschaft abzuwenden und passend zum Kongressthema diesen Grundsatz umzukehren in ein weniger ist mehr : beim entschleunigten Schlendern durch die Altstadtgassen, beim gemütlichen Zusammensitzen in einem der vielen einladenden Restaurants und Bars, beim Auslüften in der naturbelassenen Umgebung, beim künstlerischen Dialog der Moderne in der Ausstellung Arp Gehr Matisse im Kunstmuseum oder gar einem Besuch des MoE, dem Museum of Emptiness. 11 Bienvenue du président local Chères et chers collègues, Après un congrès annuel 2016 de grande ampleur marqué par l intégration internationale, nous sommes heureux de vous accueillir à St-Gall en On pourrait parler de «retour en province», mais c est peut-être dans la simplicité-même que se trouve l essentiel? À vous de le découvrir! De nombreuses figures majeures de l orthopédie ont laissé leur empreinte sur le développement de la discipline à St-Gall, citons notamment M. E. Müller, B. G. Weber, F. Magerl ou A. Gächter, tout un passé marqué par la médecine qu on pourrait aussi confronter à un passé historique et urbanistique des plus intéressants. Le quartier de l abbaye et la bibliothèque collégiale inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l humanité, les nombreux édifices art nouveau et à colombages de la vieille ville encore intacte, la nature environnante tous autant qu ils sont transforment la découverte de notre ville en un véritable évènement. Mais St-Gall n est pas qu une ville du passé. Aujourd hui comme hier, la clinique de chirurgie orthopédique et de traumatologie de l appareil moteur de l hôpital cantonal compte parmi les plus importantes de Suisse, les soins en matière d orthopédie qu elle dispense sont complétés par les collègues établis à leur compte dans des cliniques modernes. Sur le plan scientifique aussi, St-Gall et son université sont depuis longtemps présents sur la scène internationale parmi les plus grands dans les domaines de l économie et du droit et prévoient de mettre en place une formation de médical master. Enfin, le Tribunal administratif fédéral apporte incontestablement une portée nationale à la ville avec son bâtiment moderne créé par les architectes Staufer&Hasler. La taille humaine, la touche personnelle et la nature ouverte de ses habitants vous aideront certainement à oublier, ne serait-ce qu un instant, la pression du «toujours plus» qui règne dans la société actuelle pour la transformer, dans le sens du thème choisi pour notre congrès, en «mieux vaut moins que plus» : à travers les lentes flâneries dans les ruelles de la vieille ville, les réunions chaleureuses dans l un des nombreux et engageants restaurants et bars, la fraîcheur de l air dans la campagne tout autour et le dialogue des artistes modernes à l exposition «Arp Gehr Matisse» du Kunstmuseum ou, pourquoi pas, une visite du MoE, le Museum of Emptiness.
